“that worked well for the iraqi army a few years back...”

Funny thing about that, we’re still there trying to defeat them.

Big diff though is that we ain’t illiterate, under armed, nor living in a sand dune. This is home base for the government. They attack us, they have no where to run or hide. We built the systems and weapons they need, we know how to diable and distrupt them.

Looks like they have been working on this one for awile.

The Myth of Posse Comitatus
Major Craig T. Trebilcock, U.S. Army Reserve

October 2000

Major Craig Trebilcock is a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps in the U.S. Army Reserve. He is assigned as an operational law attorney with the 153d Legal Support Organization in Norristown, PA. His area of specialization includes the laws applicable to U.S. forces engaged in operations in both the United States and abroad. Major Trebilcock is a graduate of the University of Michigan (A.B. with high honors, 1982) and the University of Michigan Law School (J.D., 1985). His military education includes the Judge Advocate General Basic Course (1988) and Advanced Course (1992), U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (1997), and the U.S. Navy War College International Relations Seminar (2000). Major Trebilcock is a civilian immigration attorney with the firm of Barley, Snyder, Senft, & Cohen in York, PA.

The Posse Comitatus Act has traditionally been viewed as a major barrier to the use of U.S. military forces in planning for homeland defense.[1] In fact, many in uniform believe that the act precludes the use of U.S. military assets in domestic security operations in any but the most extraordinary situations. As is often the case, reality bears little resemblance to the myth for homeland defense planners. Through a gradual erosion of the act’s prohibitions over the past 20 years, posse comitatus today is more of a procedural formality than an actual impediment to the use of U.S. military forces in homeland defense.

3 million divided by 50 states is 60 thousand per state.

I suspect the majority of these "troops" would desert the ranks if they were told to open fire on American civilians.

...And the hard-core "troops" who shoot US civilians will eventually be destroyed by the justifiably angry civilian population.

When the shooting does finally begin? It will be Americans versus obamanistas, just as it has always been in the debates at the local water cooler.

American military personnel will not shoot fellow Conservatives, but the obamanistas probably will.

However, the obamanistas will meet the same fate as Napoleon's troops did when they shot the civilians in Spain.

The Conservatives will defeat the obamanistas if it does come down to a Nationwide shoot-out.

Remember who we're dealing with.

The obamanistas would be wise to remember who THEY ARE DEALING WITH.

Once things get ugly, it is the cornered, pissed-off and well-armed American citizen protecting his family and his home who will win.

Pray for America! Obama is the opposite of Reagan and I don’t expect him to do anything to reduce the power of the federal government. They know their back is against the wall and they will LOSE BIG in Nov 2010. So, I expect them to do everything possible to bring socialism to America before then.

The obamanistas will be destroyed if they open fire on American civilians.

I just cannot see how the Conservatives in the military would open fire on the US civilian population en masse. If orders like that came down, I could see massive disobedience and desertions. There would even be Juan Martin Diez types in the ranks. Diez led the guerilla forces that eventually threw the French out of Spain.

Regarding the resilience of an angry and cornered civilian population, even Hollywood has noted that civilians turned guerilla fighters will defeat a hostile and invasive force once the shooting starts:

Some of my favorite movies regarding this topic of discussion:

Defiance

The Patriot

Red Dawn

friend of ours is fedleo. He once said he’d never enforce illegal orders upon US citizens. My reply was that the orders would come under dire circumstances. What if the economy collapsed and there were no jobs? Either obey orders or you are fired and maybe prosecuted. How many, with good values now, would sell out, knowing they need to feed and house and clothe their family? His gaze turned away and he essentially had no reply. That is what will happen to many LEO minds should things go very badly. Self-preservation kicks in.

Makes no difference to me.

If your LEO friend shoots civilians so that he can feed his family, then your LEO friend would eventually be killed by the angry American civilians.

...and justifiably so.

It's a matter of values, principles and integrity versus becoming a thug who shoots a gun for a tyrant's silver coins.

You may want to consider making new friends.

Hmmmmmm. On a lighter note, here's a piece of satire on obama's EO: Whereas Said Barack Obama Orders Up a New Council of Governors to Talk Security Stuff

WHEREAS, the duly-elected President of these United States, Barack Obama, a Democrat, has determined that,

a) there is an insufficient number of advisory bodies among the gazillion already in existence for the federal government in general and said president and his White House specifically; and,

b) he chooses to ignore the existence of the National Governors Assn., the Republican Governors Assn., the Democratic Governors Assn. and the secure telephones within arms-reach of virtually everywhere said president chooses to sit and/or recline, and having duly decided that,

c) one more meaningless advisory body probably couldn't hurt anything, and might actually look good, and, ..................................

Do the Bonus Army and Waco fiascos ring a bell?

Bingo. Americans forget IT HAS HAPPENED HERE BEFORE. Look up the Bonus Army event in 1932. These were WWI vets who were SLAUGHTERED by the FedGov for doing nothing but marching for their promised war bonus, which the Congress didn't think they would actually have to pay, since the payout was 13 years in the future. Best account of this event I have read is in John Ross's novel, "Unintended Consequences."

That's also a good place to get a good account of the Waco disaster in 1993. Another slaughter, this time over unconstitutional gun laws.

Point is, there will always be unscrupulus Fed LEO's who are willing to open fire on civilians. Next time, we have to fight back.

Henry Bowman, where are you?

How much will this cost the taxpayers ?

There will have to be a special "Office of the Council of Governors" with an Adminstrative Assistant to prepare agendas, schedule meetings, take phone calls, etc.

Special stationary, special protection, on and on.

Another layer of bureaucracy, at a time when we should be slashing and burning a good portion of governent costs.

Will they all need to be flown to international soirees, such as the Copenhagen Conference ?

I can hardly wait, truly, for the Federal government to join the State governments in bankruptcy, and end all this nonsense.

Versaille, as in Louis and Antoinette, had NOTHING on these guys (And that loathesome woman Pelosi).

I'm going to the garage to sharpen my pitchfork.

***”More than two years ago I wrote a letter to all 535 members of Congress in which I implored them to find and set aside $200 billion in actual cash - not for “hand outs” in the traditional sense, but rather for the provision of emergency food, shelter and clothing, possibly to be provided on formerly-closed military facilities for up to 25% of the American population for a period of one year or more. They of course ignored that entreaty to the best of my ability to discern, but the reason for it was clear to me at the time and still is - a hungry and homeless population is a dangerous population, and “discontent” when married to an empty belly can easily turn to armed rebellion, especially if and when the “rabble” discern (and they eventually will) that they have been systematically robbed for decades by Wall Street, K Street and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.”
