Making the LEGAL changes to “significant other”, that would really shift this whole thing....social security, tax benefits, visitations, and pensions and health insurance Can NOT now be adjusted legally
THAT is the problem. I can not get a “live in partner “ or a relative to get my soc sec benefits or tax benefits and the hospital visits, etc are not as easy as it sounds.
Marriage is between one man and one woman; It is tradition; It is a Sacrament.
The gay folk have Civil Unions. They are acting with tragic negligence if they think they can actually break tradition and impinge on a Holy Sacrament.
They are also acting very selfish and foolish with their laziness. They need to find another term for "Marriage" if they don't like "Civil Unions".
Correct you are. Let’s add too the facts. One; the government spends 20 million in funds, and only 12 million goes to it’s intended purpose. Two; the church takes the 20 million, and 19 million goes to it’s intended purpose.

By passing gay marriage, the City Council has put the Catholic Church, or more accurately, the Archdiocese of Washington, in an awkward position.
Uh no. It has put itself in an awkward position. As DC will have to carry the burden when all the Catholic services shut down.
Have fun city council.
I'm beginning to think that we need to ditch Catholic Charities altogether and come up with a different plan - without the leftists in the offices.
It seems to me that was a conflict of interest in the first place.
I am with you.
Here is her point to me (which I think I've devastated, but you never know...): "The church pays benefits to employees who are remarried after divorce, so how can they justify not paying gay partners, who are also in a married state the church doesn't recognize?"
Any serious answers would be helpful in case this flares up again (though I think I have her out for the count). Thank you.
