I would think they can but I’m wondering why they don’t. This is something Fox News should have picked up on and hammered it home.

"...Nothing prohibits doctors from caring for the poor, but they do not want to care for the poor for free. Friend, it is all about money. The medical profession is no different than prostitution they don’t give freebies..."

That is a pretty hateful statement against thousands of people you have no knowledge of. You should be ashamed of yourself.

What do you do for a living? Where the HELL do you get off telling other people what they should do for free? Are you a plumber? Should plumbers fix poor people's plumbing for free? How about car mechanics? Should THEY fix poor people's cars for free?

It is the PRECISE attitude of people like YOU that put us in this mess that our country is in today.

Unfair. Doctors now see Medicare and Medicaid patients for pennies on the dollar— have for years. They also write off billions in ARs that patients feel comfortable not paying. The AMA has been infiltrated with socialists. They do no represent hardworking doctors anymore than AARP represents retired people.

Think of the AMA as the equivalent for physicians, that the AARP is for seniors.

I don’t approve of the AARP just because I’m 58 years old, and I’m certainly not going to join the organization.

Physicians will be financially destroyed by government health care.

Who in their right mind will spend ten to fifteen years to become a physician with a $350,000 balance owed on the day they pass their boards, if they can only expect to make $80,000 a year?

Besides Joe and Jane Taxpayer, physicians will be the most hard hit group under OBumblerCare.

I called my Senator’s office.

I asked, “How are the subsidies handled? Do we get one rebate check at the end of the year with our income taxes? Or do we receive the rebate credit on a monthly basis? I hope we don’t have to wait until the end of the year. If we have a subsidy of several thousand dollars, that is a lot of money we have to float the government for 12-15 months.”

Staffer: “Oh... good point. I don’t think anybody has thought about that.”

But Jim, that’s the way liberals always work. They want to get moral credit for helping the unfortunate with your money while they themselves get rich from the institutionalized graft.

One of many reasons I never joined the AMA. The thing is, with physicians, they CAN’T reduce or give away care for free to indigent patients. We are required to submit a bill for services rendered.

Well, I’m getting an education about the AMA. I had no idea. Too bad FOX doesn’t fill us in with the straight skinny.

Thanks

Yes,these are sad times my friend.I hate that it has come to this but what do you do when your back is against the wall? You fight and fight hard, taking no prisoners. It is terrible that our nation is about to be ripped apart by yet another Civil War.In my mind, the tipping point will be next years mid term elections. If Soros and his communist crowd succeed in stealing the ‘10 elections, then Katy bar the door.Blood will run in the streets and chaos will reign for a time, till we can hobble back together our REPUBLIC

FOX news is STUPID for not pointing out that the AMA is not "doctors." The AMA is a communist-supporting, self-serving lobby for itself, and only a fraction of doctors are associated with it.

Our problem is not with evil government but with the media reporting their lies as facts. If Americans knew the truth, we would all be together and get rid of this government.

Maybe we should all ask our doctors if they belong to the AMA.

“The first thing that I ask when someone is for or against a government program is in whose best interest is it to pass such legislation. The medical profession is supported by the government’s wasteful Medicare and Medicaid programs. It is all about money, especially money in the doctor’s pocket. All this noble rhetoric about how much they care about the poor getting medical treatment is bulls**t. Nothing prohibits doctors from caring for the poor, but they do not want to care for the poor for free. Friend, it is all about money. The medical profession is no different than prostitution—they don’t give freebies.”

Friend, you are a flaming ignoramus if you think “it is all about money” for most physicians. You surely don’t know any personally if you say that as you do not see the hours worked, the family life foregone, the stress in helping make life and death decisions with a patient, the sadness with death of a patient, and on and on.

How many hours do you work a week? My wife actually works at minimum 12 hours daily 5-6 days a week, takes home charts to update nightly, is on-call every 5th weekend, makes rounds at the hospital every 3rd weekend, went to school until she was age 30, with a mound of debt at the end. If you calculate the hourly wage, she likely makes less than a Master Pipefitter, without benefits (She is on my insurance). How many hours do you work?

Sure, there are some docs who are in it for the wrong reason, but they are not common. You owe most an apology for your stupid ranting outburst.

The medical profession is no different than prostitution, they do not give freebies. I am not a medical doctor, but my wife has been one for nearly forty years. I am a hospital chaplain, and I am intimately connected with the health care industry. I have also spent many years sponsoring medical missionaries, who do work for free. Many of them live in places that are far worse than anything you would find in the United States. I have seen the medical profession up close and personal. So get off your high horse, and act like you have some sense. If you want to talk about hateful speech, what the heck are you doing? Is it only hateful speech if someone says something you do not like. That sounds like a fascists talking to me.

I have belonged to the AMA in the past to get group rates for insurance (how ironic is that)but I am no longer a member.

And even if you COULD give your services away, you shouldn't. We don't expect anyone to do that kind of thing (or we SHOULDN'T expect anyone to do that) but if someone has the means, desire and the legal framework to do so, that is a great thing, but it is their business. (See my post at #42)

What people in all walks of life in this country are going to discover, once they have killed off (figuratively speaking) all the entepreneurs and capitalists, that food will not be available on the shelves, gas will not be at the gas station, heating oil will not be there for your home, and medical care will be unavailable to you and your family.

The capitalist free-market society has done more to raise the quality of life for people than any other force in history. And we have people who are hell-bent on destroying it.

When people realize the damage that has been done, the perpetrators will be long gone. Everyone in government and industry will refuse to accept responsibility for it.

But it will be OUR responsibility for allowing it to happen.

Maybe we should all ask our doctors if they belong to the AMA. Be careful before you ditch your doctor just because they belong to the AMA. I used to belong to the ABA (I later quit) for various reasons. I didn't support their legistlative/political agenda, but they did provide lower insurance rates, CLE cources, etc. that were very difficult to get elsewhere at reasonable rates as a yong attorney. Plus, I do believe that the only way to change an organization is from the inside. I just figured out the ABA was unchangeable, and I no longer needed their benefits..

What the AMA doesn’t tell you is that not all doctors are members. The numbers were posted a few months back on FR.
