The High Price of Ben Nelson's Low Vote
The American Thinker Blog ^ | December 19, 2009 | Marc Sheppard

Democrat Ben “Dover” Nelson, who had previously threatened to join a GOP filibuster of the Senate Health Care Bill, proved today that everything has a price – including a man’s values. The Nebraska Senator just accepted what I’ll generously describe as an enormous “monetary incentive” to do a complete 180 on his long-time position on abortion funding and thereby gave this awful legislation life with his 60th all-Democrat vote.

Earlier this month, Nelson insisted that he would not support a bill without stronger anti-abortion language:

One word describes Nelson: Whore

One has to wonder the thoughts of the other "Girls", who gave their vote away for free, are thinking this morning?

The old adage rings true today, as it has forever:

Once you identified yourself as a whore, it is just a matter of setting the price.

As a P.S., I wonder if Nelson has slept with Tiger to get a better handle on his putter club (golf, of course!)

Wonder what Webb is going to demand for his vote.

One by one the whores are lining up for their payment.

I’ll generously describe as an enormous “monetary incentive”.So much for democrats being for the people they want you to die so they can say hey we cut costs for medical care.

From the article:
While 49 other states will be forced to scramble and cut and tax and reappropriate in order to meet the new mandates, Nelson’s home state won’t.

Just thinking out loud here...I wonder if another state(s) could file a lawsuit that would need to go all the way to the Supreme Court over this. That would throw a monkey wrench in this bill for a long time.

Any merit to this idea?

My thoughts about this is of a rather dim sort, I think that in the near future there will be an attempt upon his life, this decision of his is the most potent of fuels for a lone wolf wack job, seriously this is how a Timothy McVeigh is created.

I’ll kindly steer clear of Nebraska thank you.

Yes there is a lot of merit to the idea IF we actually had a Supreme Court that upheld the Constitution and had not already kissed the ass of Emperor 0bama.

Communists (aka '0bamunists') are in control of the Executive Branch and the Congress, and the Judiciary is nothing but their rubber stamp now.

Don't you know we're living in the United Soviet States of Amerika now?

But a great idea regardless.

I believe that Bill Nelson, Senator from the sunny state of Florida, has submitted an amendment to exclude the Counties of Dade, Broward and Palm Beach from the Medicare cut backs.

I had called his office asking why not the whole state of Florida? As a citizen of Florida I was being discriminated against by living in Collier County in SW Florida.

Tried to call Senator Nelson yesterday and of course all local offices were closed and the DC machine was filled.

Any other Floridians have insight into this? On Friday, supposedly Bill's vote was still “undecided” according to Staff.

I wonder if it would be effective for us to start contacting our State Senators on this issue of all the other states’ taxpayers being required to pay for Nebraska’s incremental Medicaid burden—and push for nullification of this bill in our respective states.

Hey, I sent Webb and Warner an email today asking what they were going to going to get VA now that Nelson got Medicaid paid for. I think everyone should flood their senators with the same question.

It seems to me that such a provision would meet the same fate in SCOTUS as Algore’s famous try at a selective recount in FL in 2000.

Unless the justices pull a Ben Nelson on us.

Just remenber that almost all "wack jobs" are libtards and they only go after conservatives. So the libtard senator in Nebraska is pretty safe.

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

Alexis de Tocqueville

And since you mentioned a certain word...

PJ O'Rourke on the subject.

Yea, I don’t have much faith in the SC, but I just wonder if some type of legal action would force a big wrench in the whole deal. The other comments are valid too...what about the rest of Florida? What about state legislatures forced to come up with money that Nebraska won’t?

This whole thing smacks of the same repressive acts that the British government forced on the Colonists. When you gerrymander benefits for one state and another is left holding the bag, you are back to taxation without representation. (Well, we have been there for a long time, actually).

Louisana was bad, Nebraska is obscene. I would hope tea party movements start within those two states ( and spread all over) that would champion nullification of this damn bill.

That may be the whole idea. Obama promises federal money to Nebraska in exchange for Nelson's vote, the other states then file suit over it, the SC finds in favor of the other states, Obama takes back his money, but Nelson doesn't get to take back his vote.
