On Wednesday 16 December 2009, many milblogs — including This Ain’t Hell, From My Position, Blackfive, Miss Ladybug, Boston Maggie, Grim’s Hall, and those participating in the Wednesday Hero program — are going silent for the day. Some are choosing to go silent for a longer period of time.

I definitely understand the military's need to monitor soldiers' blogs for comsec and opsec and even morale-affecting issues within the military. That said, how does the DoD have any authority over what a First Sergeant does at a civilian schoolboard meeting or blogs about the school officials if his actions are not criminal in any way?

In hindsight, CJ should have avoided calling zer0bama a 'liar' on his blog. Things that make those high up in the chain of command look bad have a way of haunting a soldier later on.
