Immigration Overhaul Bill Unveiled In House [12M Illegals: Called "Most Generous" Legislation!]

Immigration Overhaul Bill Unveiled In House The legislation, which includes a path to legalization, is met with criticism from conservatives and liberals.

By Antonio Olivo and Teresa Watanabe December 15, 2009

Reporting from Los Angeles and Chicago - Raising the curtain on a new round of debate over immigration reform, a group of Democratic congressional lawmakers introduced a comprehensive bill today that, among other provisions, would offer a path to legalization for the country's estimated 12 million illegal immigrants.

The bill, championed by Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) was decidedly more pro-immigrant than the bipartisan legislation House lawmakers defeated two years ago. And the latest version drew immediate fire from the left as well as the right. Groups opposed to legalization derided it as a form of amnesty, and more-liberal factions complained that it relied too heavily on enforcement.

In Los Angeles, immigration activists hailed the measure at a news conference before heading to local lawmakers' offices -- aboard a yellow school bus festooned with banners -- to urge their support.

"This is a big day for us," said Jorge-Mario Cabrera of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles. "Our community has been awaiting this bill for a long time."

Cabrera called Gutierrez's bill the most generous immigration legislation in more than two decades, citing provisions that would allow migrants to legalize their status without returning to their home countries, prohibit separation of families, offer more visas for workers and relatives and eliminate local enforcement of federal immigration law.

The bill also calls for beefing up border security and overhauling the federal detention system for jailed immigrants to provide for better medical treatment and other services.

Secure the border and deport the criminals who broke into our country illegally. Only the douchebag politicians need to pass an amnesty bill before they can enforce our laws. It's time to bring back the tar and feathers for the backstabbing traitors in Washington DC.

Uncontrolled “legal” immigration and “anchor-babies” immigration has already changed our nation. This Bill will formally and officially end the US as we know it. Sad. Whoever thought that in less than 12 months those 67% voters aged 19-29 and white single women who (according to Gallup) voted “overwhelmingly’ for Obama would have sent an entire nation hurtling into self-destruction.

Democrats/Marxists want to legalize illegals so that they can create millions of new Democrat voters.

Over and over again democrats are being warned that they will NOT be reelected if they vote yes on healthcare.

THIS is the democratic response to that threat.

Democrats have every intention of making absolutely positively sure illegal aliens and likely 3/4 of the population of Mexico become immediate democrat voters. It is NOT being done for compassion - it is self-serving and will be a fatal blow to all Americans (especially the jobless) and to the standard of living our children and grandchildren will be forced to endure.

This will be the fight of our lifetime for the preservation of our nation.

Just for the hell of it I gave Nancy Pelosi a call to ask if she thought it was fair to make taxpayers pay for the education and medical costs of illegal aliens, especially since it was a failure of federal enforcement and administration that allowed illegal aliens to mass in this country, as well as multi-billion dollar document forgery, people smuggling, and identity theft industries to form ... and is it fair to now reward lawbreakers with amnesty, and the failed government with more power and ready made voters?

Her reply? “Are you serious? ARE YOU SERIOUS???”

or will he once again try to play a conservative and go against it

What in God's name are you talking about?

Do you recall McCain-Kennedy, the Amnesty Bill of May 2007?

When we literally burned down the phone lines to the Senate?

When McNutcase's "popularity" plummeted? ( I don't know anyone who likes him, so I'm not sure what "popularity" means in this context)

As far as the election in Arizona, he's about out of that dance finally, now that everyone sees him for the fraud that he is.

I attended the press conference. It was well orchestrated including having about 20 children wearing white tee shirts saying "Future Voter."

Was that a press conference held here in Los Angeles? I'm asking because I'm wondering how they were able to use a school bus.

From the article: In Los Angeles, immigration activists hailed the measure at a news conference before heading to local lawmakers' offices -- aboard a yellow school bus festooned with banners -- to urge their support.

Thanks. Since I'm here in L.A. I'm going to try and see if I can find out how one gets to use school buses for protest activities.

Go to The social contract.com by James Walsh,I'm tired of documenting this over and over and over.

In 2005 the number was 38 million, 36 million illegals plus 2 million visa overstays. Who knows what the number is now.

Walsh is a former scholar and Federal prosecutor. He knows the immigration stats inside out and has done his homework. He is the real deal that's why no one ever talks about him.

Yes and is there REALLY any way to stop them?

The definition of immigrant is merely a person who moves from one place to settle in another. Your definition is retsrictive and you have arbitrailly used it to support your point.

What more do you have to say? They are here against the laws of the US. That makes them illegal immigrant or aliens for that matter. What else do you need?

I want to keep the discussion within the bounds of the laws. Most people who visit America are called tourists. It makes no sense whatsoever to refer to those who come here without legal permission "immigrants".

I prefer calling them "tourists without visas".

I want words to have a meaning and not have people make up and limit definitions. That’s a propaganda technique.
