Snow is expected later in the week, as forecasters have warned Britain should brace itself for more wintry weather with below-freezing temperatures.
Gemma Plumb, a forecaster with MeteoGroup UK, the weather division of the Press Association, said: ''We might see some snow on Thursday, but it's too early to say for definite when it will occur and how much there will be.''

He’s got a mouthful of buttercups and can’t talk right now.
Check the tundra for him tomorrow or the next day.

We might see some snow on Thursday, but it's too early to say... but we are 95% certain that the ice will melt in Greenland by 2100 and flood some island somewhere. Give us all of your money.

Gee and these Met people are backing AGW and can't forecast four days in advance! As a pilot of more than 30 years I'm shocked if they get it right two days out. I watch surface analysis and 500 mb charts put out by NOAA twice a day. Very often the maps dramatically change in just 12 hours. Forecasts beyond 48 hours or so are a WAG at best......

'Snow on the way as Britain in grip of cold snap'
Like this is something new for Britain or Europe?
- In 1812 we have 'Napoleon and the Russian Winter', one of the 'coldest on record'. And it wasn't just in Russia, but in Lithuania and all of 'East Prussia'.
- When Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol in 1843 Snow & COLD was common in London.
- When 'Hans Brinker, or The Silver Skates' was published in 1865 the Canals in Holland always froze in winter.
- When Arthur Conan Doyle was writing his Sherlock Holmes stories, first in 1887, London winters were always cold and snowy.
- And in modern times we have the winter of 1944 during the Battle of The Bulge. That winter in Belgium was again, one of the 'coldest on record'.
I don't know how far back in time these ijits want to go, but they're ignoring almost 200 years of COLD & Snowy winters in Europe.
(yes there's been mild weather too but the COLD & snow was there and it can't be ignored, right Al Gore) (/s)
