Millions of undocumented people in the U.S. should be given a path to legal status after the country finds a way to stop illegal immigration, business and government leaders said in a report Wednesday.
The University of Denver report argues that legalizing as many of the estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants as possible could strengthen the economy and national security. But it should come with conditions, such as requiring new immigrants to learn English, pass criminal and medical background checks, and pay any taxes that they owe, the document states.
The report is the product of a year of discussions by a 20-member nonpartisan panel and presentations from Gov. Bill Ritter, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, former Gov. Bill Owens and other political leaders. Its policy recommendations are being sent to the Legislature and members of Congress.

Yes, their ‘path’ should be back to the US Embassy in Mexico City standing in line behind the rest of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th world huddled masses ‘yearning’ to be ‘free’.
Beneficial to the democrat party, maybe.
Illegal aliens already have a path to citizenship.
They can return to their home countries. Go to the nearest U.S. consulate or embassy, obtain a visa application, and apply for permanent residency, like every other person on earth who would like to come here.
There is no way we can deport 12 million illegals. I don’t know a perfect answer but maybe this may be one. The only stipulation is that they be unable to vote until after the 2012 elections to guarantee that they understand what America is about. And another requirement is they will be required to take a class reading the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and pledge allegiance to the flat of the United States at every class opening. I just don’t know but something must be done because the corrupt King Obama will see that they vote in 2010.

Pay attention here folks. This, along with the comments yesterday on foreign students is part of the preparatory maneuvers for doing amnesty soon.

But, but....Janet Napalitano AND John McCain both insist the border IS secure!!! What complete idiots....if a country will NOT deport illegal aliens, why shouldn’t they ALL come???
BTW, many ‘progressives’ don’t agree.
Some ‘progressives’ understand the situation better than the GOP leaders.

We have 10% unemployment minimum amongst citizens, how will legalizing them help those citizens?
How is legalizing low wage earners beneficial to society when they won’t pay taxes and they and their families will be eligible for tax payer funded social service programs?
Since their families will be allowed in, how is it beneficial to have possibly 80 million new residents who are eligible for social service programs, whose kids will be using the school system, and town services will be strained.

Sure there is. If we keep insisting that, we are LOST. When a nation says that, why on earth would any of them stop coming here. You’re simply begging to open the flood gates. We don’t NEED to deport them all. If we got serious about the law (YES, the law says the prescribed penalty for illegal entry is DEPORTATION.) most would self deport or not bother to come in the first place.

I suppose these “owed taxes” are supposed to pay for the English classes, background checks, and other social services, that not only the ‘new’ citizen uses, but also the Ten relatives each will sponsor.
Fat chance. The CIS released a report years ago showing clearly it took three EMPLOYED generations for the social services consumed by the original immigrant to be paid back. Zero positive fiscal impact, until his great, Grand Children.

Now, be a good Rino and don’t ask such questions...no one is going to answer you anyway.
I say fine employers who hire them, do away with all services they can qualify for, and they’ll all go home. We have jails overflowing with them at a huge cost to the taxpayer and we have Hospitals closing because they’re a burden on the system, they need to go home. We can’t afford to ignore 12 million.
