WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama outlined new multibillion-dollar stimulus and jobs proposals Tuesday, saying the nation must continue to "spend our way out of this recession" until more Americans are back at work.

Without giving a price tag, Obama proposed a package of new spending for highway, bridge and other infrastructure projects, deeper tax breaks for small businesses and tax incentives to encourage people to make their homes more energy efficient.

I tried to spend my way out of a depression, and all I got was a bad credit score and calls from collectors.

Why does Obama expect anything more?

This is an equivlent of.

Using one credit card to pay off another credit card debt, see how easy that is?

"We avoided the depression many feared,"

This self-congratulatory lie should not be left to stand.

Trillions in debt did not keep us from a "depression".

It tied an anvil to the Dodd/Frank Fannie/Freddie anchor that was already sinking us.

It never ceases to amaze me that Dems so obligately believe in the Keynesian multiplier myth. It's like cold fusion, if it actually worked, things would be entirely, entirely different.

“Spend our way to prosperity” - I guess 0dumbo must’ve received an affirmative action ‘A’ in his econ classes.

This is EXACTLY what’s WRONG with our Nation right now. Seriously...President Bush (God Love Him!) told us to ‘keep shopping’ and to ‘keep on keepin’ on’ after 9/11. Tamp down your ANGER. Shut up and keep paying your taxes, Serfs. *Rolleyes*

Jeeze! If it weren’t for all the pot smokin’ at the meetings, I’d be a Libertarian in a HEARTBEAT!

Does anyone besides me think that we’ve been trapped in one GIANT Ponzi scheme that’s finally collapsing after decades of idiots managing our Nation’s treasure?

Are we, Everyday Joe Sixpacks, really any better off than say, people taken for millions by Madoff?

Let’s sober up, Peeps! We have met the enemy and he is our elected leaders!

Hey Diana,

As a fellow Wisconsinite you probably favor a bit of global warming.

But, just to be a good, responsible citizen I'm going to assume Maobama is correct that we are causing global warming, that it is harmful and that we should all do something about it personally.

And I'm going to follow his economic example in an analogous way because he is sooooo smart. So, until I hear the IPCC declare that global warming has been beaten I'm going to accelerate my energy consumption to help pollute our way out of this climate crisis.

Brilliant! :)

I’m not spending DIME ONE until he’s out of office, but I will join you in using my wood stove every d@mn day until he’s gone. And I don’t care if it’s the middle of August - there’s going to be a blazing fire going, LOL!

Between the two of us, he should be on his knees begging for mercy within the week!

*SNORT*

"...using my wood stove every d@mn day..."

That's a great start!

But, remember now, Mother Earth and all her children's futures are at stake here. So, try to work some petroleum-based products into your efforts. Or at least cut down some green (CO2-consuming) trees for your fire.

I'm going out to add some baked beans to our livestock feed right now before it's too late to make a difference. If you are downwind from Amery then I apologize...just remember, it's for the children. I'll drive our old pickup truck the 100 feet to the barn and leave it running while I work.

Since the economy/jobs summit seemed to result in the notion that more deficit spending is the answer, then I'm quite certain my ...ahh... fresh ideas on enhanced goat flatulence should gain me an invite to join O in Copenhagen.
