On Fox's Nov. 22 "Fox News Sunday," former "Special Report" anchor and Fox News senior political correspondent was dead spot on target in many regards when it came to criticizing the tack President Barack Obama has taken with his foreign policy gestures.
First, Hume reflected on how Obama reacted on his trip to Asia last week. He noted that Obama was in a tough position, having to rely on borrowed Chinese money. However, "embracing weakness" was not the proper way for Obama to represent the country in Hume's view (emphasis added).
"Look, the president is in a weaker position than he might have been, not least because his policies have contributed mightily to the immense amount of new borrowing that's being done, much of it from the Chinese," Hume said. "So now you have the Chinese even worried about the size of the health care plan. That is unfortunate. But this president seems quite willing to embrace weakness as a position for the United States. I mean, the bowing and scraping that we see -- Saudi Arabia we saw it. We saw it on this trip in Japan."

I do believe the phrase “backasswards” was coined by the lovely lady Sarah. it sure fits almost everything about the ‘bams.
I sure miss Brit on Special Report every night. Bret is OK but he’s not there yet.
P.S. Speaking of not there yet, how do we get together and send Shep back to the minor league?
I don't understand how this man has a gig on Fox. What a no-talent individual. He's got something on someone somewhere is all the I can think of to explain his longevity.
Coined? Hardly. Love Palin, but it’s a term I’ve heard since I was a kid in high school.
I have heard a$$backwards.......not backa$$wards. you must be way ahead of us heathens in upstate NY.
Consider first that I’m older than dirt, and when I was growing up, we weren’t supposed to say words like ass unless in terms of Jesus riding one in the Bible. So “backasswards” SORT of got us around that little sin. Terms like “half-fast” were used, too. ;)
vaudine
I miss the nightly schooling he would give Juan.
And when I first heard it in Oklahoma back in the 1930's, it was "Bassackwards"
“Look, the president is in a weaker position than he might have been, not least because his policies have contributed mightily to the immense amount of new borrowing that’s being done, much of it from the Chinese,”
Like this all started a year ago. In truth, it started decades ago and started to balloon five years ago.
I think thats why most of the posts on this thread are focusing on the humor of “backasswards” as the statements of Hume really showed how ingnorant he thinks the US populas are.
Not long ago I read one of Rex Stout’s “Nero Wolfe” mysteries from the late 1940s, and was surprised to encounter the word “bassackwards” there. It’s been around for a while.
my little granddaughters keep repeating what their mama says.......”oh, Mylanta”........LOL I nearly died laughing when I heard the four year old and her two year old sister exclaim......”oh, mylanta!” that first day.
