Islam is a violent ideology with its own set of laws(Sharia Laws) that demand strict obedience or face harsh punishment and of which religion is only one component used to impose islam on non muslim societies.
In a few months she will be betrothed to a cousin, and then next year be married to him. Prayer is completely appropriate in this situation.
