>> Cordray, a Democrat, said last week that he is following state law that “says in effect if you’re a state employee and you’re sued for work done in the course ... of your employment, you’re entitled to a defense by the state attorney general’s office.” <<

Since when is it in the course of their employment to use state databases to dig up mud in political campaigns? The fact that they were using their status as state employees to help them commit their crimes only means the state should be seeking criminal penalties, too, not helping them out. But apparently Cordray is a criminal, too.

I think that one of the employees was acting on a request from their superior (or so it was claimed). I don’t remember anymore.

"Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray’s office is defending former state employees Helen Jones-Kelley, Douglas Thompson and Fred Williams. All have denied wrongdoing and asked that the case, filed last March in U.S. District Court in Columbus, be dismissed...Jones-Kelley and Williams resigned and Thompson had his job 'revoked' in the wake of a report from Inspector General Tom Charles that found confidential state databases with personal information on Wurzelbacher were improperly accessed."

IF the Democrat AG must involve himself on behalf of the people of OH in this matter? It should be to enter their pleas of "Guilty" and then broker a settlement. That's it.

Joe, if you're listening? Squeeze sloooowww, Joe. LOL

its outrageous that taxpayers money are used to defend against criminals.

The United States Department of Justice was used to defend the usurper in the most recent lawsuit to be dismissed against him. Why? Those suits were on the books before the coronation. Why am I now forced to pay for him thumbing his nose at the Constitution and the citizens of the USA?

Good luck Joe! Don't back down -- fight the commie b-turds!

When I first looked at that convoluted head I had to read that article and that may have been the writers intention. They could have used this headline which would have been factual.

Ohio Civil Servants Joe the Plumber invasion of privacy suits to cost state $$$

But who would read it ? If that wasn’t their intention that was the result.

The point I was trying to make is that barely a peep was made while they (the state) were using taxpayer dollars to invade a private citizens information.

It seems a state with a Dem governor, Dem legislature...anything, anything can happen. It may not be a ‘slam dunk’...remains to be seen.

"It seems a state with a Dem governor, Dem legislature...anything, anything can happen."

Very true; in fact, safe to say when[ever] speaking where Democrat(s) show up in the same sentence? That'd go without saying. LOL

"It may not be a ‘slam dunk’..."

Wondering if maybe this case could be moved to another state for the very reason(s) you've cited/implied?

You gotta know if the poles were reversed? The first attempted motion would be a change of venue; whereby, the defense would claim prejudice.

Be interesting to see how the peoples of OH would take to their Democrat AG going to another state to try this matter insofar as the additional expense went?
Especially since most Ohioans know damned well what the report revealed, would be publicly asking why this matter isn't [being] settled, post haste. LOL

"...remains to be seen."

Yup, sure does.
Pity we can't start a book for these things. A portion of profits going to offset website operating expenses? Some for the children, too. LOL

Of course our native Americans have a lock on that concession. LOL

The taxpayers hired those criminals. Joe has every right to demand they pay up.
