Update
No S. Korean casualties. N. Korean vessel was extensively damaged(word-for-word translation: 50% damaged) and returned to the North(, presumably on its own power.)

My bet: Zero SK casualties (we’d know). Given the tech gap, I’d guess bad news for NK...

They want something (from the South but probably more specifically from USA). It may well be a tantrum. Conveniently two or three days before appeaser Obama arrives.
I think they are using the stick.

I think we should send U.S. peacekeeping troops to make the Koreans play nice — and make them all Muslim. The rest of our troops will feel safer, and surely the Muzzie GIs won’t mind pointing guns at Buddist “infidels.”

His gut says to apologize to Norks, but that won't play well politically. Got to find something he can live with, which is few and far between, considering this outright provocation. LOL.

Conveniently two or three days before appeaser Obama arrives. Very conveniently. NK creates an incident "defending" bogus and unrecognized claims to "territorial waters." The O-bot floats in on his magick carpit to "make peace," usually meaning posing for a glorious photo-op while the parties engage in "compromise." As usual in all compromises with evil, that means SK loses something.
The O-bot claims victory as the great peacemaker, NK gets a distraction as cover for its nuke program, and everybody is happy, except of course our lone ally in the picture.
The O-bot should send a thank you note to "The Il One" for making him look good.
Japan take note: Unless you gleefully sop up a lot more worthless US bonds than the Chinese, you are expendable.
We have a willfully destructive chump in the White House.

More or less "all clear" for right now. (1:40 p.m. local)
9 ROK fishing boats had to be evac-ed from the area.
This is the ROK island nearby where the dust-up occured two hours ago:

No need to wake Obozo.

S. Korean Joint Chief of Staffs said, "A N. Korean patrol boat violated Northern Limit Line at 6.3 miles to the east of Daechung Island, (intruding into S. Korean waters) by 0.7 mile. Our Navy repeatedly sent warning messages, which it ignored and continue to head southward. Our Navy sent a warning message that warning shots will be fired. When it did not relent, they fired warning shots according to rules of engagement. The N. Korea vessel fired directly at our patrol boat, which returned fire according to rules of engagement and repelled the N. Korean vessel. There were no casualties on the S. Korean side, but the N. Korean vessel returned to the North, heavily damaged in billowing smoke.

Nope. All of those colored and numbered islands west and south of the dotted line—including Gangwha (the big, light green one) as well as the little light green one above it, are ROK claimed and occupied territory, all firmly garrisoned with ROK Marines, and or Navy, Army. Obama’s friend Kim Jong il doesnt dare attempt to take those back. They are fighting over the sea boundaries. Correct me if I am wrong, TLR.

Based on this, of course, then, ROK sets the NLL(Northern Line Limit) line to be 7 miles due east of their Daechung Island. And the norks came in by over about 7/10ths of a mile. One can clearly see the NLL line, east of that (dark green) island, separating ROK and DPRK, on the map above.
