Italians want crucifixes to stay in classrooms: poll

ROME (Reuters) - Some 84 percent of Italians oppose a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights that crucifixes should be removed from Italian classrooms, according to a poll on Sunday.

The poll in the Corriere della Sera newspaper showed 84 percent of Italians want the crucifixes to stay, 14 percent said they should be taken down and two percent had no opinion.

Those in favor included many who are not practicing Catholics. Some 68 percent of those who said they never attended Mass said they still wanted the crucifixes to stay in schools.

Italy has said it would appeal the ruling, made last Tuesday in Strasbourg, and government leaders from Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on down said the crucifixes would stay because they are a part of Italy's Christian culture.

The ruling -- which said crucifixes could disturb children who were not Christians -- prompted Vatican anger and an uproar in Italy, where such icons are embedded in the national psyche.

The case was brought by an Italian national, Soile Lautsi, who complained that her children had to attend a public school in northern Italy which had crucifixes in every room.

“The ruling — which said crucifixes could disturb children who were not Christians”

The Muz Bunch are trying this all over the world...succeeding in the USA only, it would appear.

Religious persecution of Christians is nothing new. We are warned that it WILL happen — not may, but WILL — several places in God’s word.

Meanwhile, the clock is ticking down to the second coming of Jesus. “No man knows the hour”, except Almighty God Himself, but it’s a safe bet that tomorrow, it will be one less day away than it is today.

Meanwhile, Jesus takes care of His own, as He has promised He will.

One of two things will happen first: this particular period of suffering will pass — or Jesus will come.

FRegards

Dear Italians,

If you wanted to retain control of your country and have Italians decide what is best for Italy you should have not joined the EU.

I'm sorry, but you have sold your national sovereignty for a few pieces of silver.

Sincerely,
Captain Obvious

Captain Obvious has it exactly right on this one. My thoughts exactly. Italy was a nation for what, 150 years? It wasn’t worth much to them, evidently, and they gave it up to the EU.

They have no reason to complain now. And even it they did, it would do them no good. The EU bureaucrats don’t care what a citizen thinks. Or is there even a concept of a “citizen” of the EU? They are just simply cogs in the EU system, of no consequence.

But then, this seems to be what the ‘Rats have in mind for the US.

.
The last 50 years have shown that our Constitution is very fragile and vulnerable to those who are not of good will and who have America’s destruction as a goal. The Constitution can easily be destroyed by unconstitutional means.

The blessing that was America was shortlived — the earlier empires took much longer to die.

I have been contemplating what was written above. I have been depressed and angry over recent political events. As many others, I have participated in Tea Party protests and am a frequent participant here.

One thing I have realized...you cannot kill America. Not the philosophy, it is impossible. God created America, he gave us free will so we can destroy the nation, but not freedom, not decency. Those are his creation and his gift for us. As long as there are people who believe in America and are willing to fight for the American philosophy America will exist. And, I believe the good will overcome evil, but only after some very nasty times.

Sometimes it seems Silvio Berlusconi is the only man on the entire European continent who has any balls.
