Seven years after he and his teenage sidekick terrorised the Washington area with a three-week killing spree using a high-powered rifle, John Allen Muhammad — the “Beltway sniper” — is due to be executed tonight by lethal injection.
The execution is reviving memories for the millions of people in Washington, Virginia and Maryland who spent October 2002 crouched in their cars as they pumped petrol, ducking and weaving across open spaces and running into schools with their children, glancing anxiously at nearby woods.
Muhammad, a former soldier and 41 at the time, and Lee Boyd Malvo, then 17, triggered the biggest manhunt in US history when, between October 2 and October 24, 2002, they killed ten people and wounded three, picking their victims at random and firing from the boot of a battered 1990 Chevy Caprice.

When do we needle Sgt. Hasan Akbar, the Muslim convert who in 2003 fragged commanding officers at a military camp outside Iraq, killing two and wounding 15 others.
He will be burning in hell before the sun rises tomorrow. What surprises me is only 6 years from murder to execution. Amazingly fast in our current legal system.

As I recall the media browned their shorts when the identity of the snipers was found out. They were really hoping it would be a White Christian. They were so disappointed that they immediately hid the story.
The media is worse than the snipers.

I don’t know how accurate that article is. Off the top, Art Agnos was not killed in the attack but that is not made clear by the author. Rather he states their was a “hit” on Agnos.

They are still intermediate rounds, less powerful than a full battle rifle round (like 7.62x51) and more powerful than a submachine gun (pistol) round.
It kinda feels dirty ... but I do score better with the AR-15 than with the M-1.

Some published accounts state that Martin escaped from his jailer,
in spite of the admonition of the court, and died several years later by falling from a wagon and breaking his neck. Old residents of Taos who were eye-witnesses, state that the sentence of the court was executed upon him.
He was placed standing in a wagon, a rope was tied about his neck,
the other end being attached to the limb of a tree above him, the team was started, and his body fell, breaking his neck.
