Will Purple Hearts be Given to the Fort Hood Soldiers?
Right Side News ^ | November 10, 2009 | Ernest McDermon

Posted on 11/09/2009 8:35:45 AM PST by RightSideNews

by deeming this a "criminal" act, instead of a terrorist attack, will the Obama administration refuse giving Purple Hearts to our wounded and fallen at Fort Hood?

General Cone should not be considered for further promotion, and probably relieved of command for failing to properly secure the Fort Hood installation in wartime. General Casey, Chief of Staff of the Army is working to treat this event as a "criminal act" and not a wartime "terrorist attack". This foolish, "politically correct" thinking is what lead to the 9/11 attacks: a failure to properly identify, and react to, a deliberate attack on the United States by an Islamist terrorist with the tacit support of Al Qaeda.

The Obama Administration's heart is not in the fight against the Islamists and their efforts to impose Shari'a Law worldwide by force. The Administration's attempts to classify the War on Terror as "overseas contingency operations", and attacks like this as "man caused disasters" shows a weakness of character at the highest levels of the Obama Administration. The current President is not interested in defending the nation, but is solely interested in transforming our society into a Socialist State. Mr. Obama does not want any distractions like the combat deaths of 13 US Soldiers this past week on US soil to cause distraction from his political agenda.

If John Kerry can get one...of course, that diminished the purple heart quite a bit.

I’m sure our poser-in-chief will be more than happy to come pin one on Hasan himself.

Obama will certianly award purple hearts to gay soldiers who are killed by Muslims.

After all, it is a hate crime to kill gays but not whites.

Once the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy is rescinded by Obama and being gay in the military is out in the open, they will be targeted by Muslims.

After all, the only thing a Muslim hates worse than an American is a gay American.

In the bizarro world we now live in:

Terrorist Nidal Hassan will get the purple heart, and law enforcement will be sued for violating his right to exercise his religious beliefs. Shooting a man while he's performing Jihad, is just so “culturally insensitive”!!

I'm also sure that the victims are somehow at fault, and Mr. Hassan is entitled to legal recourse from them and their families too.

Of course not. That would be admitting failure by the Army.

I’m sure O- will have a hookah-summit with this terrorist so they can dis Infidels and work out his pardon in 2012.

If the Army/President declares it a “terrorist act” (which it was), then they will get their Purple Hearts.

General Casey, Chief of Staff of the Army is working to treat this event as a "criminal act" and not a wartime "terrorist attack".

Treating terror acts as criminal offenses led to 9-11 (I know I'm stating the obvious). The bombing of the twin towers in '93 was treated criminally. But the real difference between that act and 9-11 is the fact that the tower didn't fall and knock down the other. The first attack was an act of war and we did not act that way because the body count was tolerable to the Clinton administration. I am sure 13 dead is well under Obama's response threshold.

Obama cannot afford to award the Purple Heart because that would mean that he would have to admit that the enemy is here and acted on our soil. I can, however, see him diminishing the significance of the medal by changing the terms of the medal to allow all to receive it if they get hurt during wartime.

My reading of the Regulation wouldn’t facilitate award of Purple Hearts. Don’t know if they could get around this or not. As far as LTG Cone and Gen. Casey are concerned, it is my guess they are both in their final post retirement assignments.

He knew a muslim terrorist was in his ranks. He did nothing.

He towed the PC line like a good Obama-bot, and you call it “nonsense”?

ABC News reported that “U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda”

In view of this, this is a terrorist act by an enemy combatant. IT IS NOT A CRIMINAL ACT as out Marxist administration say. It is TERRORISM.

LOTS of careers are finished after this. If they can fire/retire/discharge 300 + pax over the “loose” nuclear weapons issue between Minot AFB and Barksdale AFB a while back, I would imagine dozens of careers being effectively over at this point.

Probably some GS 7 is in a heap of trouble....

I think the Zero Administration wouldn't risk hearings and the like.

Maybe some Golden Parachutes in the future though.

I was wondering whether the casualties will be awarded Purple Hearts.

Awarded for "Being wounded or killed in any action against an enemy of the United States or as a result of an act of any such enemy or opposing armed forces"

So, if they are awarded Purple Hearts, this will acknowledge that the attack was not a deranged lone gunman, but from the same enemy they fight overseas.

How do you know that? Because of some rant on a blog, or because some moron with a microphone stood in front of a camera and said so? Doesn't make it true.

Clearly, someone knew that this guy was a wacker, but not likely that LTG Cone, or even the hospital commander was among them.

"As horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse."

Mr. Horowitz.....

.....It was an ATROCITY and an ACT OF WAR not a tragedy. A tragedy is an accident, this was not an accident.

.....Diversity should NEVER be the prime consideration. Diversity for diversity's sake has been demonstrated to be a failure almost everywhere it has been imposed.

You are leaping to conclusions. “US knew”. How does Dean Reynolds know that? What are his sources? the term US is a little broad. Who in the US? Someone in the government, I presume. Last I checked, it was a pretty big institution. Most of the agencies that ferret this sort of info out don’t share, and I’m not aware of any report that claims that this information was made available to anyone at Ft. Hood.

No, I am jumping to conclusions. Just like Obama said NOT to do.

Look. I know you want to defend the military. By all means - do so.

Yet, when you have generals placing diversity above the lives of 13 soldiers - and you see evidence that the Army had Hasan under investigation - yet he committed a terrorist act, then yes. I will jump to the conclusion that they Army screwed up.

I wish I would be proven wrong. But you know it's true.

Lots of room to criticize the Army, they deserve it. The politicians even more so. However, LTG Cone just held a news conference and was asked if he knew about this report that MAJ Hasan was trying to contact Al Quaeda. He said he didn’t know it and was unaware that there was such a report.

I’d be surprised to learn that anyone in the Army had been informed. They should have been, of course. That information, together with the facts of Hasan’s on duty behavior might have gotten someone to put two and two together. It wasn’t done, largely because of the political correctness culture that prevails and the current Administration’s determination to deny the existence of terrorism.

You seem to address your reply to “Mr. Horowitz.....” The quote is from General Casey (Nov. 8 interview on Meet The Press).

There’s a good article by Diana West on it (exerpt below):
http://www.dianawest.net/Home/tabid/36/EntryId/1116/Diversity-Uber-Alles.aspx

As Gen. Casey blatantly underscored it yesterday on Meet the Press:

“Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse.”

The end of “diversity” as a fetish object is “worse” than the massacre at Ft. Hood? Think about it. The general in charge of the Army is saying that if we, as a people, stop worshipping diversity above all and start protecting our soldiers and ourselves from the teachings and goals of Islam, that’s “worse” than the carnage at Ft. Hood.

Fire Gen. Casey. His duty is to diversity, not his troops.

I stand corrected. Thanks!

It very upsetting to see that a General said this.
