Democrats Face Electoral Backlash After Health Care Vote, Top Republican Warns

Democrats will pay at the polls for their vote in favor of a sweeping health care reform package Saturday night, a top House Republican warned, while Democrats cheered the bill's narrow approval as a historic achievement.

Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., chairman of the House Republican Conference, told "Fox News Sunday" that the vote proved Democrats have not listened to American concerns about over-spending, bailouts and government takeovers.

"The message from last night is that the Democrats didn't get the message in August or last Tuesday," Pence said, referring to the town hall meetings over the summer where members of the public protested the plan and last Tuesday's election where Democrats lost two big governor's races.

If the republicans play their hand right, the 2010 elections can be even better than 94’. But, our message must be based on conservative principles, both fiscal and social. Are you listening RINO’s?

It will take more than threats. The dems are riding high . The deals that were cut for congress and aarp as well as ama need to be exposed . Bribery with tax payer money . Otherwise its all hot air , empty threats and posturing. By the time 2010 comes around the WH will do a monster cash dump with the unspent stimulus money .

Oh, I think Pelosi and the House leadership understand, all right. I think she knows it's now or not for many years and she's willing to sacrifice a lot of Blue Dogs to get her dream of socialized medicine. So, she's doing it before those dopes figure out just how much trouble they're in.

You said it. It means sending money & taking some time off work in 2010 to work against selected targets, even if they are not ones own representatives.

That's right.

The Dems don't care.

Once ObamaCare takes hold, it will create a constituency (just like welfare and the public school system has) which will become reliable Dem voters who will return them to power by the following election cycle, and keep them in power for generations.

Your point is well taken. If the idiot local chairs had nominated anyone reasonable to conservative-moderate voters in NY 23, it is entirely plausible that Pelosi could have been defeated last night (she would have had to pull the bill)

Yes, I have been watching this group of “progressives” (read: communists) that have been in our very own Congress. They are mostly radical fanatics for power and control. They care little or none for America and its people. They act only to serve their own empowerment. Their names should appear, and probably already will, on the list for 2010.....

The favorite weapon of the RATS is buying votes. You bet they will do this. That is the main reason they are holding so much tarp money and are waiting for the proper time for the major dump

I fear that all this talk about a 2010 backlash that sweeps Republicans into power is wishful thinking. Bill Clinton was caught in a bold-faced lie and was impeached, but that didn’t keep him from getting re-elected.

The American voter doesn’t care. They want their gubmint cheese and job digging holes and filling them. Don’t bother telling them about freedom and the Constitution.

God help us all.

The rationalizations from the Democrats are classic examples of navel gazing. So, Tim Kaine, who saw his party completed decimated in the Virginia elections, says Congress is taking its cues from the 2008 election. So, from his perspective, Tuesday never happened. Imagine the level of self-delusion that takes. How can the pretend that nothing has happened to the American electorate since last November?

And then, the other Dem Doofus, Chris Van Hollen is equally out of touch. He is talking about the Republicans doing nothing in 2006 to 2008. Hello? Where have you been since January and since the American public has risen up in anger at the Democrats doing EVERYTHING WRONG! Good grief. What a self-deluded moron.

If this blows up any way in the next few phases (senate, conference, house, senate). It will be egg on their face. If this goes through, it’s 1994 again.

Blue Dogs won’t like be sacrificial lambs with it becomes apparent. They might be planning their own payback.
