ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- The wave of voter anger aimed at incumbents in last Tuesday's off-year elections is just what an against-all-odds campaign in New York's governor's race needed. Two weeks ago, Republican candidate Rick Lazio was quietly running an uphill campaign for the 2010 race. He faced a rising Democratic wave in New York, with every statewide office held by Democrats, rising party enrollment and a Democrat in the White House. Lazio even called his effort "the little engine that could." But the Election Day vote that ended the tenures of suburban county executives, legislators and two governors gave steam to Lazio's outsider campaign.

Is Rudy still thinking of getting in the race?
Lazio???
The message last Tuesday was NO MORE RINOs.
lazio—the goof ball that gave us
u.s. senator hillary.
LAZIO??? HAHAHAHAHA!!!
OMG, I remember the debate between them, please God not another RINO!
If Patterson is the Dem nominee for reelection, the GOP could nominate Homer Simpson and win.
NY Republicans have already played LAZY E OH. Didn’t work then, won’t make any difference now. NY people prefer a socialist with a “D” letter after his name.
The media gave us Sen. Hillary just like it gave us President Obama. I remember the phony bs about Rick "invading her space" as if he had knocked her down and raped her. The media have been controlling most of our elections, along with ACORN and local Democrat election officials.
What about the NY Senate races for 2010, which are most important for stopping Obama’s agenda? I believe both seats are up for re-election. Are there any good Republicans running for either of those seats?
Drunk-driving, philandering, bastard-fathering Lazio? Hey, at least he has name recognition!
I’ll grant you that there aren’t enough true small government conservatives to run for every office. But Lazio? C’mon. This is satire, right?
That would be Vito Fosella, not Lazio.
Oh.

Never mind!

The media had a field day with that one. Lazio never recovered.
When I see that name Lazio, the word “vapid” comes to mind.
"Incumbents"? Nice spin. It's aimed at dems and RINOs, NOT at "incumbents."
I remember that too, how dare he ask a tough question of her highness let alone cross that invisible line into her precious space. I liked him, not my state, and he got in to the race late, I forget the who/why of it, who he replaced and why...
Rudy dropped because of cancer.
Don’t worry, if he’s liberal, they probably will.
If Patterson is the Dim candidate, Homer Simpson will have already been nominated.
‘The message last Tuesday was NO MORE RINOs’
Conservative Hoffman was dealt a crushing defeat when NY GOP did much better in suburban county races across New York.
Lazio is no conservative stalwart, but can anybody name two more conservative candidates to run for Senator and Governor?
Don’t taze my space weasel!
Rick is more plausible to run for the senate or house. But I’ll have to read more about him and see.
NY won’t elect a real republican or conservative as Governor. So a wuss moderate is a good as it’ll get. If Guiliani wants to be president, he needs to be governor. If he doesn’t want the WH, he could take the senate seat. He wupps Gildebrand, could probably beat Schumer.
