Chris Matthews’ Epiphany: the Left is Obama’s Problem
NewsReal Blog ^ | November 8, 2009 | Rhonda Robinson

Posted on 11/08/2009 3:20:35 PM PST by Rhonda Robinson

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman, Michael Steele inadvertently flipped the light on for Obama faithful, Chris Matthews host of MSNBC Hardball. Although it was on, it was too dim for Matthews to see the entire picture.

Matthews’ started his interview with Steele by peppering his questions with insulting statements, calling conservatives “wing-nuts.” It didn’t take long for Steele to stop the questions and address the statement, asking why Matthews kept calling his people “wing-nut?”

Then Steele turned the “wing-nut” to the far left.

Steele: “What about all the left-wing-nuts who won’t let the president get his agenda through? What about all the left-wing-nuts that are the reason we don’t have health care right now? You’ve got 60 votes in the Senate, you’ve got 78 seat majority in the House, and I don’t see anyone talking about the left-wing-nuts who are stifling the health care for my mother and my family and my community. So don’t give me the name calling here.”

That’s when the light came on. Well, at least a flicker.

this is exactly why left wing talk radio and MSNBC etc have no one interested in them.

Instead of using facts and saying how it is form their view they decide to come out with names after names after names and it turns folks off.

They’ll sit there like little kids calling names tons of times instead of addressing the issues, then they start giggling like little kids again.

If they took a step back and watched themselves they would see how cringeworthy they are

I'm sorry, but Steele's argument seems all wrong to me. Blaming "left wing nuts" as the reason "we don't have health care right now."

THAT IS WRONG-HEADED. We've always had health care! When has this country not had doctors and nurses???? By "health care," he means some kind of government-administered animal regarding insurance. And he seems to think some such thing should already be in place!

Most shocking is that Steele would criticize any success at stifling this president from "[getting] his agenda through." He's blaming that on left-wing nuts almost as if it's a bad thing!!!

GET THIS GUY OUTTA HERE!!!

Chris Matthews is an old alcoholic on a perpetual dry drunk. Don't know that he ever went to rehab, I doubt it because it doesn't look like it. I think he just white-knuckled it, with only marginal success.

I don’t see anyone talking about the left-wing-nuts who are stifling the health care for my mother and my family and my community.

Here's the light bulb - and it should be coming on for Republicans who think their "leader" has their interests.

Your mother doesn't have health care, Mr. Steele? Buy some for her, chump!

Don't help the leftists insist that I pay for it.

The context was his statement was Obama can't control his left which almost sank the House bill with defection.
Link that with the fact that Steele's a RINO dunderhead, and Viola.

Michael Steele being interviewed by Chris Matthews looks like “Dumb and Dumber” to me. Steele can’t debate from a conservative perspective to save his life, and Matthews is too busy being smarmy and self-serving to acknowledge anyone’s opinion unless it corresponds to his own.

Chris Matthews’ Epiphany: the Left is Obama’s Problem

I watched the entire segment.

That wasn't much of a Epiphany, more like a 5 watt bulb being turned on

Years ago I really enjoyed Matthews show. I think his diabetes has affected his mental acuity besides a strong dose of mind numbing liberalism. He sure has become a major jerk in the last few years

Sadly, the tingle that ran up little Chrissie’s leg during the Obama campaign went all the way up to his head, blowing his tiny vestigial brain out his left ear. Given the many times Chrissie has gladly taken it in the ear for his pals on the left, the size of that orifice made the blowout inevitable. The scar reveals that he DID have a transplant. Unfortunately, it was the cryogenically preserved brain of Lyndon Baines Johnson and turned out to be even smaller than the original organ, probably because – as with nearly ALL Democrats -- it had never been used.

Tim Kaine was running his mealymouth, refusing to let Steele get a word in edgewise, and placed his hand around Steele’s wrist, a gesture meant to control Steele. Well Michael Steele physically and noticeable removed Kaine’s hand from his wrist. Kaine’s rudeness could hardly go unnoticed and frankly maybe he would’ve learned something had Steele punched him.

For some reason I thought she was a lawyer, but I checked Wikipedia...she is/was a news anchor. This, though, I found interesting about Matthews:

"In 2002, Matthews was hospitalized with malaria, which he evidently contracted on one of his visits that year to Africa. He has also had other health problems, including [diabetes] and pneumonia.

Your claim the word "misogynist" and/or "misogyny" was coined by feminists is wrong. The word harkens back to ancient Greece and the earliest known record of the word in its English form is some time in the early 17th century, 1620 or 1656. Etymologically, it is rooted in Greek; looking at the word this is quite apparent. William Safire (no liberal or feminist) wrote in '08: The word misogyny has since its earliest recording in 1656 meant “hate or contempt for women.” The etymology of misogyny is straightforward: In Greek, miso means “hatred,” and gune means “woman.” A misogynist is a woman-hater."

Regarding your claim that "misogynist" doesn't get much use on Free Republic, and also the implication the word isn't used by conservatives...well, that's demonstrably wrong. It shows up many times via a keyword search, a title search, and in discussions about Islam and rap music, for example. Also, here are a few examples of prominent conservatives using the word:

Ann Coulter: After living through an administration that produced a cornucopia of misogynist and felonious behavior, the very same people who were defending the felons are now beyond indignation about Bush.

Charles Krauthammer: But people aren't dying in the street because they want a recount of hanging chads in suburban Isfahan. They want to bring down the tyrannical, misogynist, corrupt theocracy that has imposed itself with the very baton-wielding goons that today attack the demonstrators.

Oliver North: Among the contenders are 300 women, a fact that has driven the misogynist Taliban leadership over the brink.

Mona Charen: In 2005, the winner of Best Original Song at the Academy Awards was "It's Hard Out Here for A Pimp." The level of misogyny and vulgarity in the song is impossible to convey in a family newspaper.

David Limbaugh: As others have said, if they are truly worried about the plight of minorities, especially blacks, then why don't they decry and organize against the racism and misogyny in rap and hip-hop music?

Suzanne Fields: As a feminist, she's particularly outraged that many feminists have muted their criticism of Islamist misogyny.

Linda Chavez: Tune in to a rap station and you'll hear not only sex but also glorified violence and misogyny.

Michelle Malkin: And apparently, the Miss USA organizers agree. Instead of apologizing for Hilton's vile behavior, the pageant director of the Miss California contest, Keith Lewis, sent a note to Hilton throwing Prejean under the bus: "I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss CA USA 2009 believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman. … Religious beliefs have no place in politics in the Miss CA family." But gutter profanity and misogyny do?

of those only Coulter, North , Malkin and Limbaugh are the only true social conservatives...I’d give a lot of credence to although the others do offer us some morsels on occasion

I’m 52, don’t know how old you are but prior to political correctness that word was hardly ever used and the context is exponentially more often used to argue for women in combat, gender politics, glass ceilings, pro-abortion etc....the litany of fembot stuff rather than as a weapon to bash Islam or black urban culture...which granted when used in that context if more often the province of the right.

btw...it is not used much here except by angry women and social mods

so what was yer name before July dear?

insecure....lol...never heard that one in my 52 years..my wife will like that..

my point was crystal clear:

the term misogynist regardless of it's ancient etymology which btw also had nothing to do with feminism either is a word that is 99% of the time codespeak for whiny, strident fembots of the Steinhem/Faludi school. When I hear that word used in the context you FIRST used it that's what I am reminded of much like when I see the words DIVERSITY, ECOSYSTEM, or TOLERANCE used to defend one’s side of a discussion...and sadly when some conservatives stoop to turning that word on the left it doesn't detract from that intent regardless of the fine character of the person using it in that particular case. It's like when a decent person points out real racism. Like me saying I think Jeremiah Wright is a black racist...which I do but usually folks who claim racism are the same ilk who claim misogyny...the identity politics folks on the left and misogyny is over gender victimhood for womyn.

My contention that the word misogynist was first brought into popularity in the mid 80s by fembots is without question.

One last note, challenging your assertions you make here on this forum does not make one insecure or defensive by deafult .

It's pretty much the nature of the beast unless we're have a circle back slap over the evils of Islam or our love of Sarah Palin or hatred of Bro.

Maybe you are too young to remember before the word was used like it is and are unaware of the most used context. Do you ever wonder why nobody says misandrist?

Honestly, I don't know what your contention is. First you say it is a feminist neologism, then you contradict yourself and claim it was "brought into popularity." Your original claim was that the word was coined recently by feminists. William Saphire/others illustrate otherwise. I'll simply side with Saphire and scholars on this one. As to the rest of what you're saying, you seem intent on scoring a point or two......so be my guest. I'm not that invested in this apparent "debate." I responded to another Freeper, Hildy, to have a passing conversation, that's all. Lighten up and have good day.
