Good neighborhoods provide families a lot of protection, but even the best of communities remain vulnerable to the threat of criminals invading their homes. Our human bodies are also vulnerable to foreign invaders such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. But when these infection-causing microbes break in where they don't belong, they face a serious defense force, eventually to be caught and destroyed by a highly trained, cell-sized army equipped with a sophisticated array of weaponry. That security force is called the human immune system. Designed with amazingly dynamic communication networks that pass information back and forth between hundreds of millions of cells, the human immune system strategically fights off microscopic invaders and remembers them each time they attack the body...

Ping!
Very poetic.
Looks like a lot of completely wasted effort. Necessary to “create” the defensive system? Certainly not - it would be just enough NOT TO CREATE these “foreign invaders such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites”. :)
Add to that the fact that our puny immune system really isn't a match for the world's most-virulent pathogens, which is why so many poor, innocent babies used to die of Diphtheria, Pneumonia, etc.
Then along came man-made miracle drugs like the Sulfa drugs, antibiotics, etc., as well as inoculations against Polio, Small Pox, etc.
Regards,
Why did God make viruses and parasites?
—to say nothing of the internal varieties, such as cancer, diabetes, Parkinsons, etc., etc.,-—
A swiss security force maybe. (ie, armed citizenry)
Neat picture of a Garand at the link.
The Bible tells us that all of creation was originally created good. Sin, disease, sickness and death came after the Fall.
I was admiring that myself :o)
Wouldn't want to live forever, would ya?
Evolution would not work if we lived forever. Was that God's plan?
“The Bible tells us that all of creation was originally created good. Sin, disease, sickness and death came after the Fall.”
I ask this question with NO sarcasm and not with the intent to challenge. I’m seriously curious and looking for clarification.
But where in the Bible does it specifically say this? OT or New? I’d really like to read this for myself.
I’ve heard this before, but have never been able to find the specific reference.
Thank you.
Oh. God created viruses AFTER Adam ate the apple?
That's a statement filled with speculation and hope.
Where did you get that? That means that viruses were originally created good, and then mutated so that some of them became harmful. When I say “some of them”, you do know that many viruses are completely harmless don’t you?
Where in the Bible does it tell us that sin and disease came after the fall?
Ah, viruses evolved to attack humans. Thank you.
A brief, but useful, explanation of how the immunde system works can be found at www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/.../immunesystem -,
it’s about three dozen slides with descriptions.
Read Genesis 1, and you will find that God repeatedly refers to the original creation as “good.” In Genesis 3 you will find that all creation was cursed because of the Fall. This curse, is repeated many times throughout both the Old and New Testaments.
That Bible does not says all creation was specially created, and has since degenerated into its present state since the Fall.
Passage please?
btt
But you said the Bible said that.
??????????????????????????????
Bump To Toilet?
No, back to the top
Why did God design mutating viruses that would mutate from good to evil?
Why did God design mutating viruses that would mutate from good to evil?
The immune system is a brilliant example of the absolute power of RANDOM systems to accomplish amazing things.
The variable region of an anti-body has its genetic DNA scrambled inside immune cells such that each creates a unique 3-D configuration that will bind specifically to almost ANY 3-D structure (with those that bind to self told to self-destruct).
Virus and bacteria will adopt different 3-D structures through evolution to avoid the acquired immunity of the anti-bodies that rendered it harmless the last time, but the latent immunity is there in the form of a specific antibody waiting to become acquired immunity; all generated through RANDOM processes.
If it can degenerate, it can also evolve through natural selection. Causes of disease, sickness and death were largely unknown to people 4,000 years ago. Now we know that diseases and death are often attributable to certain organisms. Not only simple ones, like viruses, but also to quite complex parasites. So, there is a legitimate question, if, for example, Onchocerca volvulus was created "according to its kind" too. Or it rather EVOLVED to efficiently attack humans.
May I ask you a question in all seriousness and for clarification also?
You very likely have access to a Bible, Have you read the Genesis account of creation?
If so, have you reached any conclusions to your questions? and if you haven’t read the account, why not do so as was suggested on a previous thread?
If you have read the acount and have questions that is a different matter and certainly will receive an answer.
I see that neither you nor GGG can back up his claims about what is in Genesis 3. Y’all should really be more careful claiming that Genesis 3 says something that it does not.
It is obvious that they are making false claims about what is in the Bible.
Come on, GGG. Genesis 3 is not really that long. Do you want me to go through verse by verse with you?
Verse 1? I don't think so...
Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?"
Verse 2?
2 The woman said to the serpent, "(B)From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;
Verse 3?
3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'
Verse 4?
4 The serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die!
As the IDers say about God, since I have seen no recent evidence for your existence, you must be dead.
Verse 5?
5"For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
Evil existed before the fall of man. God knew evil and did nothing about it.
Ooops...correction (was in a bit of a hurry): The Bible says all creation was specially created, and has since degenerated into its present state since the Fall.
Passage(s) please?
Do you have children, CW?
Oh, that is a good one. Now back to your post:
In Genesis 3 you will find that all creation was cursed because of the Fall.
Verse 6?
6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.
Sorry. Forgot to ping you.
Genesis 1 tells us that the entire universe and everything in it was specially created by the Word of God. In Genesis 3 all creation was cursed with degeneration and death because Adam and Eve brought sin into God’s creation. This is reaffirmed in Romans 5:12-19, and 1 Corinthians 15:21-22, but with a twist. For these verses tell us that just as by one man all sin, degeneration and death entered the world, so by one man we are all offered the free gift of salvation, which saves us from the second death, which saves us from eternal separation from God—or in a word, Hell.
In Genesis 3 you will find that all creation was cursed because of the Fall.
Verse 7?
7Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.
What do you mean, “that’s a good one”? It’s a simple question, do you have children or not?
In Genesis 3 you will find that all creation was cursed because of the Fall.
Verse 8?
8They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
Dang! Forgot again.
