The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs will seek to move forward on an investigation surrounding the mass shooting Thursday at Fort Hood Army base in Texas, Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.), the committee's chairman, said today.
The chairman said the scope of the probe would address the motives of the alleged shooter Army Maj. Nidal M. Hasan and whether signs of "Islamic extremism" were apparent, but missed or ignored.
"It's premature to reach conclusions about what motivated Hasan," Lieberman said on "Fox News Sunday" this morning. "But it's clear that he was, one, under personal stress and, two, if the reports that we're receiving of various statements he made, acts he took, are valid, he had turned to Islamist extremism."
Lieberman said if the shootings were fueled by such viewpoints it was the worst act of terrorism in America since the attacks of September 11, 2001.
"Therefore, if that is true, the murder of these 13 people was a terrorist act and, in fact, it was the most destructive terrorist act to be committed on American soil since 9/11."

Considering Lieberman’s unabashed support for the ongoing War On Terror I am confident he will conduct a thorough investigation of what happened, much to the Dems’ angst.
The fix will be in..just like the 911 Commision. They will prescreen testimony and end up with a conclusion that makes the military even more PC and punishes the innocent with more regulations and training. The potential perps will receive more protection and less observation. There will be tighter controls on guns on bases. It will happen again.

There are plenty of Jewish members of congress and the Senate. I disagree with many of Liebermans views but he usually right when it comes Islam and terrorists and isn’t afraid to speak the truth that others like to ignore. This was an Islamic terrorist attack and there is no other explanation. His statement is an American statement and has nothing to do with him being Jewish other than but being a patriot.
I hope the big O doesn’t squash him!! He is standing against the administration, and as I see it, the WH counsel may come at him!

I have nothing against Lieberman or any member of the Jewish faith. My point was simply that I’d like to see more Christian members of Congress speaking out.

Soldiers on base aren't armed unless for purposes of training. MP's are a different story.

Investigate the trail of how Hasan was allowed to continue to practice psychiatry (while imposing his own political and religious ideology on susceptible, traumatized patients under his care), appointed by the WH to advise on the national security transition team, and even awarded a promotion. Follow the stink all the way into the Offal Office and pin it on the donkey in charge.

This is not true. He volunteered for (or was granted a place on) an advisory think tank at George Washington University that was tasked to advise...not appointed by the WH. But GWU thought he was pretty cool I’m sure.
