Minnesota Governor and 2012 Presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty needed to make an impressive showing in his first major speech in front of Iowa's most influential Republicans. He accomplished that goal. Pawlenty's speech at the Iowa GOP's fall fundraiser was peppered with humor, stiff jabs at Barack Obama, and well-placed, straight right wing points

Don’t forget Pawlenty is a RINO trying to change his stripes.
Good and Pawlenty .
You underestimate how much Iowans don’t like Minnesotans.
You underestimate how much Iowans don’t like Minnesotans.
it sounds like the only person people on FR are allowed to support is Sarah Palin and Duncan Hunter. . .
Let’s not be so PC, give the guy a chance.
At least he didn’t have to resign being Govenor, like Sarah Palin .
Exactly!!! PAWLENTY (R)hino, JUST SAY NO!
Is he a RINO or just not a puritan?
Let’s not. Pawlenty is a greenie RINO big government Republican.
no he’s an opportunist....is consistency too much too ask?
Well come on.. We have to pick someone. This never ending litmus test that some people in this party have is why we ended up with McCain. No one was ever good enough. Time to let some stuff go and pick a leader. We need a ‘94 Newt again. Someone to be the face of the party. We can’t go into 2010 with that idiot Steele as our party’s spokesman.
How can you complain about McCain and show support for Pawlenty at the same time?
Before all of this tea party stuff Pawlenty and McCain were on exactly the same page. He has no principles, and he’s got his finger in the wind figuring how he can best win the R nomination. We’ve tried this before and been fooled by it before.
I am 100% with you.
My biggest fear is that the pursits will pick a Huckabee and that will end in the current nightmare extending to 8 years.
Like we gave McLame a chance? Sorry, not this time around.
I’d love to hear specifics. He always seemed Ok to me but maybe I haven’t followed close enough.
I am no Pawlenty fan - at the same time, I did not study his background and record enough. Will do so in the coming months.
Are these the same Iowa Republicans who were impressed with Huck ?
I don’t know of any conservatives who voted for McCain in the primaries.

You can find out more about RINO Pawlenty here.
I’m in MD and I voted for Duncan Hunter in the primaries even though McAmnesty already won primaries. I voted for Sarah Palin in 2008.
Conservatives go 3rd Party in 2012.
no hes an opportunist
***
Yep. Good word to use.
Beware folks!
Lets not be so PC, give the guy a chance.
At least he didnt have to resign being Governor, like Sarah Palin .
Your last whine, excuse me, line, had me laughing. Can you point out to me where Palin HAD to resign. Where DID you get that information?
As for the rest, regarding Pawlenty, I have my first-hand perspective as a resident of Minnesota and a conservative. Pawlenty held the line on taxes and I am proud of him for that. In Minnesota that is a rare occurrence.
On the negative side, he's a big Greenie advocate to the point of touring with Will Steger to highlight the affects of Algore's global warming BS. Big, huge RINO alert right there!
Over three hundred independent businesses in the metro area alone have gone under since the statewide smoking ban which he signed for the "good of the children" or some such nonsense. Private property rights, anyone?
Pawlenty's another RINO who will not get the big mo when conservatives take a look at him. I'm sure the RNC will love the heck out of him and look how well that served NY-23. Or the joke that was McCain in '08. T-Paw was HUGE on McCain and part of his posse.
The result: 0bamanation and deathcare.

No, he is just going around making speeches while getting paid by the taxpayers of Minnesota.
Right. Because Iowa’s so far away from Minnesota. How dare he go anywhere on a weekend, especially a bordering state.
About 14 months ago Pawlenty was on Fox News Sunday with Corzine, the VA Governor, and Mark Sanford. When Chris Wallace asked if they were in favor of carbon taxes Pawlenty said YES. The only one to say no was Sanford.
Doesn’t matter, he is campaigning on the taxpayers dime.
Newby please.
I was in the 2nd row listening to the speech. It was good, but I’m aware of Pawlenty’s past record.
The Iowa GOP is relatively unifed yet fairly fractured too. Our governor’s race is a big indicator of that.
You must be very happy with Obama.
Pawlenty and Huck can split the big government greenie vote.
No. Very unhappy with the GOP RINOs.
A third party can and will win in 2012 if both parties continue to move left and the GOP stands for nothing.
Third parties only work to help those you claim you like the least. How many have been elected from "third parties"? The idea is nonsense.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over thinking you are going to get a different result.
We have GREAT Republicans in office right now. Send them reinforcements!!
Pawlenty is no more ‘Republican’ than Huck, Mitt, or Julie.
He is repositioning himself to the right, just as Nixon did at election time. No more believable either.
FO noob!
. We DON’T need a 94 Newt again!
We may never recover from the damage Newt inflicted as speaker.
Pawlenty IS a Huckabee!
I believe the Baraqqi coalition can deliver 40% of the vote no matter how bad things get.
40% could produce a Clintonian plurality.
Watch for Soros to fund RINOs for 2012.
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over thinking you are going to get a different result. (Like going third party)”
Nuff of your insanity; we have to be unified, and third parties divide the conservatives to give liberals a victory. That is the total history of third parties.
Then the GOP had better listen to conservatives should they not? If they won’t the GOP will become even more insignificant.
I agree, but the only way any party to listen to conservatives is for conservatives to take control at the county level and pick the candidates.
As it is now, only liberals are active in the local committees. That is how we get RINOs in office.
Maybe his later years were not so good, but I always remember him standing in front of the Contract with America and winning votes and moving Clinton to sign legislation.
