Army Wants To Retreat in Afghanistan Christina Lamb, Jonathan Oliver and Stephen Grey in Musa Quala
ARMY CHIEFS are drawing up plans to withdraw British troops from outlying bases in Afghanistan.
In what would be a significant change of strategy against the growing Taliban insurgency, they are considering abandoning several bases including Musa Qala, the scene of bloody battles that claimed 15 British lives. Army forces would attempt to hold only the larger towns in Helmand province.
It is understood the new “retrenchment” strategy is backed by the head of the army, General Sir David Richards.
Gordon Brown has yet to take a final decision, however. Ministers are concerned the new strategy would be branded defeatist.
Quitting Musa Qala risks provoking a backlash from the families of soldiers who died there. The town was captured in 2007 by the Taliban after British troops withdrew and retaken by Nato forces in a costly operation later that year.
A senior British commander said: “The new strategy will have to be handled sensitively. But we can’t do everything, everywhere. We must concentrate our efforts in a few geographical areas. We have to select specific areas to hold and then do the job properly.”

Call it a lesson-learned, again. We thought the west learned from Vietnam that you either send in troops to annihilate and win or you don’t send them at all.
Things have changed in a big way now that the Kenyan Muslim is in power and does not want to win the war if it means killing the brotherhood.
As for the new “retrenchment” strategy , the UK's troops are inadequately equipped, Blair supported their engagement but his Chancellor (Brown, now PM) refused adequate funding. Typical lefty stuff. Hopefully Brown and scum Labour will be history next spring but that's a ways away.

The UK has lost many men and women over the last 8 years helping us in Iraq and there.
Bush and co kept us together and even got more soldiers to go there from other countries.
Now we have this clown in who would rather do shout outs and play golf then actually do any work.

The make-up of his civilian defense force is becoming clear as the fog lifts.
I don’t think any leader of Britian is going to war full tilt in Afghanistan with zero in charge of that war. Zero does not want to win the war so why sacrifice your soldiers to help an ally when Obama does not act like Europeans are allies. He has gone out of his way to insult and humiliate every European leader at at least once this year. He refused to attend the ceremony in Germany for the fall of the Berlin wall! Bam is not crazy about whitey (hellllllo, he sat in Rev. Wright’s “church” for twenty years! He is a Marxist!)
Further, he does not care about “Bush’s” war against the Muslim brotherhood. He had the jihadist who just shot up our soldiers on this transition team. He acted callously about the lives lost and is trying to hide and play down the jihadist nature of the attack.
Obama is going to bring hard core jihadists caputured during the war to the United States and if anyone thinks the Congress, Obama, the military and the courts are going to protect US citizens from these “guests”, you are nuts. The military can’t even protect itself from jihadists on American soil! Obama has them in his government.
The Congress has permitted them to infiltrate their staffs as uncovered by a man who went undercover posing as a Muslim inside CAIR to find out about CAIR who funnels Muslim spies to these positions. (See worldnetdaily.com for this sickening story.)
We are going to get attacked in a big way.
It is not “lazy” it is because Obama is a Leftist and to a Leftist the enemy of the US is your friend. That is why he’s ignoring the pleas of the general for help in the war. The Leftist’s enemies, the US military, are over there fighting against Obama’s friends - the jihadists.

Chavez has one of these “civilian defense forces” and their job is to serve as political enforces for Chavez. Obama wants to indoctrinate them. That would backfire on him here with Americans beyond the Black tribe and the communists.
