ELIGIBILITY - To be eligible for a grant or contract under paragraph (1) an entity shall be an accredited school of medicine or osteopathic medicine.
PREFERENCE - In awarding grants or contracts under this section, the Secretary shall give preference to entities that have a demonstrated record of at least one of the following:
(1)Training a high or significantly improved percentage of health professionals who provide primary care.
(2)Training individuals who are from disadvantaged backgrounds(including racial and ethnic minorities unrepresented among primary care professionals)
(3) A high rate of placing graduates in practice settings having the principal focus of serving in underserved areas or populations experiencing health disparities(including serving patients eligible for medical assistance under title XIX of the Social Security Act or for child health assistance under title XXII of such Act or those with special healthcare needs)
If nothing else, this clearly comes off as a red flag. No? Picking winners and losers based on a racial quota.
I had to type this up, so sorry if it's not longer and doesn't capture more context. Feel free to download the PDF yourself and take a look. Which is what I hope every single person around here does. I'd rather have it wrong and be told that than have this right and get even more pissed.
Redistribution of wealth and opportunity.
It’s neither. It’s treason.
God commanded: “Thou shalt not steal”.
that’s how you get people to vote for your bill.
“(2)Training individuals who are from disadvantaged backgrounds(including racial and ethnic minorities unrepresented among primary care professionals)”
The way I’m seeing this is that this statement applies to white middle class Americans!
Sure its Reparations and Affirmitive action, didn’t you see all the “minority” folks lined up on the House floor just salivating jes thinkin bout all dat free money and free everything at whitey’s expense?
Sadley many of our children are asleep and more concerned with American Idol or football and baseball to notice.
It’s affirmative action.
I’m considering moving, out of the US.
This from the “post-racial” president.
Affirmative action has been around for years. Where have you been?
How about when we repeal this Obamanation of a healthcare bill in 2010 we also repeal affirmative action, dismiss the Department of Education all together and use their budget to build a 50’T x 20’W stainless steel electrified wall between us and Mexico (and Canada), and raise the voting age to 25? Do it all in one bill, Day 1, and then move on.
Try this one on for size.
On Nov. 2, the Congressional Budget Office estimated what the plans will likely cost. An individual earning $44,000 before taxes who purchases his own insurance will have to pay a $5,300 premium and an estimated $2,000 in out-of-pocket expenses, for a total of $7,300 a year, which is 17% of his pre-tax income. A family earning $102,100 a year before taxes will have to pay a $15,000 premium plus an estimated $5,300 out-of-pocket, for a $20,300 total, or 20% of its pre-tax income. Individuals and families earning less than these amounts will be eligible for subsidies paid directly to their insurer.
Soon those who cannot afford health care will be getting it, while those paying out for the premiums will not be able to afford the deductible.
I know AA has been around for years.
This bill is only a few days old.
Did you read what was posted?
hmmmm... that verbage used to be on pages 890-905 looks like I need to go back and find out what was added in to push it to page 1234, and yes, it gives preference. Problem with that is, different cultures have different ideas of what 'care' is. I certainly learned that first-hand when trying to find a care home for Dad(he's now safely at home with us)
Bummer, this means that we’ll have a generation of (mostly) incompetent minority doctors.
Sorry, but I don’t plan to roll the dice when it comes to someone cutting me open. If I’m not sure that the doctor EARNED his credentials on MERIT, I’ll find another doctor (assuming I’m still allowed that choice).
My occupation (DDS)will allow me to go just about anywhere, however why should I leave? Aren’t there enough freedom loving folk who just want to be left alone that such a group can’t find a state/states and just peaceably separate?? Otherwise I’m afraid it’s going to become violent. Very violent.
I know what you mean and I’ve come to that conclusion myself.
