House Democrats who have announced they are voting against the Obama-Pelosi-Health Care bill.
The list is compiled from various news sources. Please add confirmed 'no' votes with a source link to the thread.
The 'Rats have 258 members. They can lose 40 votes and still reach the 218 votes needed to pass the bill on a simple majority.
It is expected that all 177 Republicans will vote against the bill. No Republican has announced they would vote for the bill.
TN, John Tanner and Bart Gordon
NY, Mike McMahon and Eric Massa
NC, Larry Kissell and Mike McIntyre
MS, Travis Childers, Gene Taylor
AL, Bobby Bright and Artur Davis
So we need 23 votes or so to defeat it now? Is there a list of uncommitted Democrats that would show a possible pool where these 23 could potentially come from?
Not enough.
kristinn, I called Susan Kosmos(D-FLORIDA) an hour ago and the woman who answered the phone said she is voting NO!!! (SHE WAS ON THE FENCE)
Please Let your REPRESENTATIVE know your OPPOSITION to this bill: HR 3962

Wendell Goler of Fox news just reported that fence-sitter Jim Cooper (TN) will be voting YES. DAMN.
She’s on the list. That’s encouraging news.
To think that the ‘rats would even consider spending over a trillion on a mere 23 vote margin, if that’s what were to happen, is ludicrous on its face; no matter if this was health care, the military, or anything for that matter.
It looks like a lot of the confirmed “no” votes are on the “wobbly” list. Once you scratch those off, it doesn’t seem that there are 23 available fence sitters to defeat it. Are there others out there that we don’t know about? Everyone who has intelligence on this says the Dems are still struggling.
I am going to vote against my bluedog democrat if the bill passes even if he votes against it. All the bluedogs should be out publicly denouncing it. If the bill goes down and he votes for it I will vote against him.The bluedogs must be thrown out.......they have no bite in a house with such a big majority.
Glenn Nye (VA)
Parker Griffith (AL)
I know that doesn't qualify for your source link requirement, but unless they're lying to callers...
Also, in this thread, Man50D reports the results of calling every Blue Dog on Friday morning, and he lists these folks in the opposed column:
John Barrow (GA-12), Dan Boren (OK-02), Bobby Bright (AL-02), Travis Childers (MS-01), Bart Gordon (TN-06), Parker Griffith (AL-05), Jim Marshall (GA-03), Charlie Melancon (LA-03), Walt Minnick (ID-01) Gene Taylor (MS-04)
Call these guys and thank them. And make sure they don’t change their minds.
Remember: The leadership gives PERMISSION to many members to vote NO, so they can take credit for it with their constituents. These members must be the ones with the most conservative constituencies.
Need a total of 40 Dems to cross over and vote against it. You got 23, need 17 more.
At the risk of sounding dense, can anyone here explain what the votes they have been making so far on the House floor mean?
I’m shocked at my rep John Tanner. He will never loose his seat no matter how he votes.
No, we have 17 (according to Kristinn’s list) and need 23 more. I can’t tell if there are 23 more fence sitters out there. Of course, I suppose we don’t know everything that is happening behind the scenes.
What are the implications of the Stupak amendment to PelosiCare? Does it pass? If it does pass, does it make passage of the final bill more difficult? Would it lose people on the left who are committed to abortion?
No some of the lines have multiple names on them. There are 17 lines but 23 names on Kristin’s list.
We'll never know now. If it makes you feel better to have rats destroy our healthcare system, then goody for you. We do know Owens will vote for it.
We worked really hard up here in the last two years to get RINO Wayne Gilcrest out of office and were successful in the primary season. The republican nominee was a pretty good conservative named Andy Harris but he lost to Frank Kratovil. While Kratovil is a democrat I guaran-damn-tee you that Gilcrest would have voted for this bill. Kratovil has been a much better representative for conservative ideals than Gilcrest ever was. Sometimes improvements come in small steps.
The House voted on a procedural vote and then will vote on “the rule” which I had explained to me meant the rule would be to allow a vote on 2 amendments - the Stupak (anti-abortion) amendment and the Republican alternative healthcare bill.
Then there will be a vote on the bill itself late this afternoon I was told on the live thread going on now.
But I cut it off for now.
I wrote to Parker Griffith and he wrote back, long message.
He’s NOT voting for the bill. BTW, he’s a physician.
Didn’t Owens say he would vote for it?
THANKS NEW YORK 23! MAY YOUR TAXES GO HIGH AND YOUR FREEDOM BE TAKEN. :)
Thank you.
Wow - thanks, Kristinn - we need some of his constituents to call him and thank him!
Interesting from that article...
“Repeated efforts to reach Boyd were unsuccessful, so it was not possible to know if the Democratic leadership had given some members a pass to vote against the bill once they were sure it had the 218 Democratic votes needed for passage.”
So I take it that the DemoRATS are letting as many as they can let off the hook to vote NO as long as they are assured they have enough votes to pass.
My Congressman (Democrat Delegate Nye) was on the fence until today, he is voting NO....they must know something we do not no.
BREAKING: Virginia Democrat Glenn Nye a 'no' vote.
BTW, the media hasn't picked up on this. Good scoop!
BREAKING: I confirmed with a phone call to his D.C. office, Georgia Democrat John Barrow is a ‘no’.
Altmire (PA) still undecided.
Right now we're at 27 'no' voting Democrats. 14 short.
Rep Braley of Iowa has just signed up for defeat in 2010. We will do whatever we can to secure this Cash for Clunkers co-sponsor POS’ defeat.
Yesterday my rep, Heath Shuler’s (NC) office told me he was still waiting to see the final bill and hadn’t decided. That was the same baloney he shoveled at us before voting FOR cap and tax. Today his office is not answering their phones. I’m fairly sure this Blue Dog will do exactly what Nancy wants him to. He probably realizes that his cap and tax vote has already sunk him so why not take whatever bribe Obama and Nancy are offering?

Glad to meet another WNC Freeper!
Yep ! He’s a real Lap Dog for Nazi! The Cap and Tax vote sealed it.. No Live Town Hall Meetings...
No use for him.
Oh, I’d like to take credit, but all I did was what everyone else is doing, call and tell them to kill the bill.
Do you mean 13 short for them to pass it, or 13 short of what we need to peel off?
Oops, never mind, I just looked at the total at the top of your thread...duh on me.
