Retracing steps of suspected Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Malik Hasan
LA Times ^ | Nov. 7, 2009 | Bob Drogin and Faye Fiore

Over the last few weeks, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan drove off the vast Army base at Ft. Hood, Texas, at least a dozen times to enjoy seafood dinners with Duane Reasoner Jr., an 18-year-old he was mentoring in the ways of Islam.

They would pray at the simple Masjidu-Ttaqwa prayer hall out along the highway, hit the all-you-can-eat buffet at the Golden Corral and then rush back for evening worship. Twice they drove to Hasan's one-bedroom apartment to pick up books or to talk.

Only once -- on Wednesday, the night before Hasan allegedly shouted, "Allahu akbar!" pulled out two guns and opened fire on dozens of fellow soldiers -- did the dinner talk stray from religion.

"He said he didn't want to go to Iraq or Afghanistan," said Reasoner, who was raised as a Catholic. "He didn't want to be deployed. He said Muslims shouldn't be in the U.S. military, because obviously Muslims shouldn't kill Muslims. He told me not to join the Army."

SNIP

On Friday, agents were trying to find a motivation for the attack, retracing the suspect's steps in the last days and months, interviewing colleagues, neighbors, friends and family to glean details about Hasan's life -- and whether he was moved, at least in part, by radical Islamic ideology.

SNIP

Much of the furious hunt for answers Friday occurred behind closed doors, as FBI cyber-agents and other forensic experts scoured Hasan's computer, his home and even his garbage.

FBI officials would not say whether they had definitively confirmed that Hasan was the same "NidalHasan" who in one Internet posting -- a comment to an essay titled "Martyrdom in Islam Versus Suicide Bombing!"-- SNIP

But there were indications that Hasan was active on the Internet and that he had posted numerous inflammatory comments.

The FBI should probably take an immediate look at his computer too.

What did the United States do make this poor, innocent man react this way?

tried unsuccessfully for several years to win a discharge from the military.

What, did the army hold a gun to his head like he did to his victims to make him stay in it for 12 years?

A Muslim, 39 year old, single male mentoring an 18 year old boy after dinner at Golden Corral. Sounds pretty gay to me.

<<<< Twice they drove to Hasan’s one-bedroom apartment to pick up books or to talk. >>>

I’m glad you posted that. I heard a report on CNN where apartment neighbors said they had never seen anyone visit Hasan’s place...until the day before the attacks. They said a man in Muslim garb accompanied Hasan upstairs Wednesday and they stayed about 5 minutes. Must have been this young man.

Dare we hope that young man rethinks his conversion? What a mentor.

I’m sure this young man’s parents were just fine with Hasan’s “mentorship” of their son. Hopefully, this will make 18 year old Duane think about the repercussions such a radical decision could make on his life.

Interesting, this young man was being led and counseled by mass murdering , Muslim terrorist Major Hasan.

In the late 1960s I had some one to lead and counsel me as well when I was about the same age, but he was different, he was this guy.

suspected Fort Hood shooter

Whew! Good thing they threw in the weasel word! I mean, once he's out the coma, he'll have to stand trial, and then, if -- you know -- if he's found innocent of any involvement, he could have sued them if they hadn't said he was merely "suspected".

Gad. We need to grow a pair and call a spade a spade. Islam is cult of death and its followers are agents of evil.

You know, I had the same thought.

The clown lived in a one bedroom apartment with an air mattress and folding chairs.

I hope - I truly hope - that, in addition to charging him with everything under the sun, the Army will conduct a criminal investigation for dereliction of duty by his chain of command.

The FBI should have been tailing him since June. All muslims in the military, if they go to mosque, should be suspected at all times.

I wonder if his parents are practicing Catholics or if they had converted as well.

I find this interesting and would like to know more details.

For instance:
Was 18 year old Duane in search of himself? Did he have a record, had he spent anytme in jail? Did Hasan meet him in the mosque or on the street? Is Duane in the Army? Was Hsan doing any volunteer work outside of the Post and Duane was someone seeking counseling?

I think the answers to those questions (and more I could come up with) would offer a fascinating insight into what draws and holds converts.

We need more light shining on the way of Islam. Knowledge is power. Know what you are dealing with.

There is usually a minimum 1 to 1 active duty payback for every year of tuition paid for in post graduate work by the military, (sometimes 2 for 1). If he joined the military while an undergraduate, accepted for a medical program, and military paid him during his medical training, say for 3 years, then he may have had a minimum of 3-6 years active duty payback on his contract.

I’m not clear on his timeline. It seems as though there are about 7-9 years missing from a typical timeline from his cousin’s testimony in the press.

God defeated Allah at Fort Hood.He also did not let Hasan die to gain a seat next to his perverted god.

Political Correctness is used to keep America blind to what actually goes on inside a Mujihads heart mind. The left has worked so hard at making sure that America does not see its war against Terror as a religious war, when in fact the enemy sees it as EXACTLY that. A religious war.

This is , as Bush said, a war against evil. And evil came to Fort Hood in the form of a jihadi who was in fact possessed by Allah. For me this incident has shades of the movie “Exorcist.”

And Good has triumphed, even though so many innocents died.
This truth of which we speak needs to me shared with America as much as possible.America needs to know of the evil which it faces, at long last. No matter what the left want to make of it.

The religious practice of the Mujihad needs to be explained to every one. There is an inner prayer designed to connect one with the self righteous energy of Allah, who literally takes over the body and mind of the jihadine.Thats what happened here.A kind of Muslim spiritual possession.Hasan was not insane, or deranged. He was just fired up on his prayers and energized. He was executing a religious ritual which he believed would open the gates of heaven for him.

The MSM will not properly inform the public about this religious practise of jihadism. It would no longer be a war on terror,The terrorists could no longer be redefined as “criminals” by Obama , who should be Mirandized with the benefits of due process that Bush had made sure to remove, as deserved.

The truth of this secret Mujahid meditat9ive practise must be exposed for ALL tio see. It is what creates these incidents of ritualistic genocide.OUT THEM NOW!

On Friday, agents were trying to find a motivation for the attack...

My Gosh, that must be tough investigative work. There are simply NO clues, NO pattern, NO background, NO reliable witnesses at the scene, nothing!

As President Barak Hussein(oops!) Obama says, we may never get to the bottom of the mystery of "why" Hasan did it - at least if Dear Leader has anything to do with it (and he certainly does)!

Curious if Hasan shaved off his body hair before his attack like many devout Muslims do before martyrdom.

Or did he somehow think he was going to survive?

The juxtaposition of these two comments is most unfortunate given the seriousness and gravity of the situation.
