It’s sounding like they’re going to put the vote off a couple more days, according to some recent news breaks. If true, that means they don’t have the votes to pass it. They would run a roll call vote in a heartbeat if they thought they’d win. They have total control over the process so they can call for a vote any time. But they won’t unless and until they can win.

Let’s keep calling and emailing. Mike Thompson is my congressman. He’s supposedly a blue dog but he’s never done one blue doggish thing in his career. That was just a scam to get elected after they withdrew the district that sucked up a few conservative pockets. Anyway, his voice mail is full, so I’m switching to email. The House operator said they usually empty their email in the morning around 9-9:30 (6-6:30 here), so time differences may be a factor in optimizing our effort.

Rules committee still in session on CSPAN-2 (at midnight Eastern) and some fireworks were just flying when Republicans offering amendments were telling what's really in the bill. Rep. Kirk (R) pounding them on a ratio of premiums for old vs young that he insists will raise premiums for younger people considerably. "If you don't understand this ratio I'm talking about, then you don't really know what's in your bill." Rep Sessions (R) pounding away about the provision for fine of up to $250,000 and 5 yrs for those who refuse to enroll in an approved plan or pay the extra tax.

That segment is done now and a new panel is in place to offer more amendments. Could be a long night...

Steve King (R) now proposing a series of amendments, including checking citizenship, eliminating a loophole where 1 qualifying person can qualify the entire family for subsidies (thus getting illegals covered if one person in the family is legal), removes public option and more to come...

I watched this on CSPAN2 last night. I can’t believe what I saw. It was the pubs stating each time that this health care bill will kill the economy and small business. The pubs were introing amendments that try to not make the bill so intrusive with the LOUD no’s from dems for hours.
