You can bet that Sarah will be speaking about the Fort Hood atrocity, and her words will ring true and be from her heart. She won’t need a teleprompter either.
Reading his twitts, I love this women, she will make the libs heads explode from what she is saying. David Brooks’s pink panties will be in even a big wad than Linsey Grahams are...
Milwaukee? That’s really enemy territory.Only place worse would be Madison.

“There is no TelePrompTer on the stage. I guess you only get one if you went to Harvard.”
you mean the Peoples Republik of Madisthan?
Milwaukee did vote for Obama...suburbs to west and north did not.
Sarahcuda BUMP
Thanks. I had in mind the red counties around Milwaukee. Very pro Bush and that’s the crowd Palin must be drawing. Obama visited Green Bay and Milwaukee, too.

I'd welcome a chance to read her words. If I missed it, so be it but would still like your help, with thanks.
IT WAS AWESOME! We were over to the right about eight rows back. She didn’t bring Todd though :^(
I’m glad that you started this thread. We were there, and it WAS awesome. It was the largest rally and fundraiser ever held by Wisconsin Right to Life and this gathering benefitted the WI R to L education fund. Many interesting things happened during the course of the evening and we had a chance to meet up with our State Senator afterwards for a late dinner at the Chancery in Mequon.
We arrived about 5:15 and joined a long line waiting to get in the outer doors. No cell phones, recording devices, cameras, etc. were allowed and staffers checked the line several times. We were wanded before being allowed to enter the building. The guards relented, however, and allowed us to keep our cell phones.
The whole event was very well run, except for the acoustics. I felt really sorry for the Irish singing group, Theiss and O’Connor, which included one of the O’Connor sons last night. T & O sang for more than an hour while the restive and noisy crowd waited for Sarah. Mark Neumann, gubanatorial candidate, wended his way through the crowd shaking hands. His reception was friendlly, but cool. Outside, his committee tried handing out stickers, and no one would take them.
All of a sudden, people around me started jumping up and turning towards the back door. We thought Sarah was entering that way, but when we stood to see, it was Scott Walker, County Executive and also a gubenatorial candidate! As soon as the people recognized Scott, a shout went out and everyone jumped to their feet, cheering wildly. I felt a little sorry for Mark, who was still working the crowd, because he’s smart and a nice enough guy. This is Walker’s year, however, and my husband told Mark to his face that he should run for the US Senate against Feingold instead.
Charlie Sykes (local author and radio show host) took the podium and introduced a pastor who started us with a prayer. Charlie then gave some opening remarks — excellent as usual — and introduced the State President of Wisconsin Right to Life who reported on the organization’s achievments over the past 20 years. Those achievements are remarkable and included the statistic that 92,000 babies have been saved over the lifetime of the organization.
Wisconsin has the lowest abortion rate since R v W was passed and a much lower rate than any states around us, despite the population and birth rate remaining about the same. Roughly the figures are 8700 for WI, 12,700 for MN, 14,000 for MI (not sure of that figure), and 47,000 for IL (Obama’s state).
I need to mention that there were 2 huge flat screen on either side of the podium, so that everyone had a clear view of all the speakers and all the statistics and pertinent quotes were displayed.
Charlie Sykes spoke again after Barbara Lyons and movingly related how he got his girlfriend pregnant when he was 19 when he was a college sophomore English major and no clear way to support her. However, he made the right choice and married her and became father to a little girl named Sandy. The marriage did not last, but he supported the baby through college (I happen to know his first wife) and he mentioned that he danced with his daughter at her wedding 2 years ago in France. He announced to the crowd last night that he will welcome his first grandchild in about 2 weeks.
(Take away message: doing the right thing has its rewards).
He then introduced Sarah Palin who was greeted with a lengthy standing ovation and cheers and whistles, etc. Sarah spoke for nearly 50 (FIFTY) minutes, mostly on welcoming life and a few little political jabs worked throughout her speech. She began my trying to link herself to WI in a six degrees type of reference — her father played on a temmam with someone who later played with someone who became a teammate of Bart Starr, etc. And her friend Greta Van Sustern always starts and ends each interview with her about the wonderful features of Wisconsin. That sort of thing. People were waving cheese hats at her.
She reiterated the main features of Barbara Lyons’ report on the excellent WI statistics on pro-life matters. How our many pieces of pro-life legislation have never been overturned by any court. She entertwined her remarks with Charlie’s — referencing his impending fatherhood at 19 and choosing life over death for the child, etc. I lost count of how many times she was interrupted by applause and standing Os. She spoke movingly about her and Todd’s choice to welcome Trig into the world and said again waht an awesome child he has turned out to be.
Her speech was well delivered. She used notes and only faltered once, as far as I noticed. And that was when she was trying to relate a lengthy quote from Fr. Frank Pavone (Director of Priests for Life) and seemed to lose her place. It was a tiny fumble, but she recovered quickly and continued, although watching her closely I could see that she had lost her place. However, she also pretty much had it memorized and so she continued on. She ended on a theme that she had already repeated several times throughout her remarks, “Don’t ever let anyone tell you to ‘sit down and shut up’ “.
When she was done (to another huge ovation), Barbara Lyons took the podium again and explained that WI R to L’s work was supported by donations and the reason for their success was the ads they have been running on TV and developed in conjunction with other pro-life organizations across the country. She invited us all to become “Sarah’s Rogues” and pledge $1000 for the cause. At that point 2 ladies carried out a huge check from Sarah Palin for $1000 and Sarah became the first donor.
It was a great evening!
See that little skinny red county right on the lake on the right side of your map? The smallest one? That is where I live.
I need to add that staffers told me that the event was a sell out — more than 4500 tickets sold.
I need to add that Sarah Palin opened her remarks with a period of silence for the vitims of the Ft, Hood shooting — especially since Wisconsin had been hit so hard. I hadn’t even heard that before then, as I had been busy all day and away from the news. This morning I find that Wisconsin lost 2 soldiers in the rampage — man and woman — and I think 4 others were wounded.
Good report, aftr, thanks for that.
