Capitol Hill Tea Party II
Politico ^ | Nov 6, 2009 | Glenn Thrush

Posted on 11/06/2009 2:48:20 PM PST by BAW

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) is planning a second anti-health care reform Tea Party at the Capitol -- this one scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday -- approximately the time when the House is due to vote on Democrats' public option bill, POLITICO's Jake Sherman reports.

King and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) organized a rally Thursday that drew thousands to the west front of the Capitol, drawing chants of “Kill the Bill.” There were a handful of arrests.

“We can kill this bill and stop the government takeover of health care,” King said in a news release. “We need the help of every American willing to stand up for freedom and liberty. I urge all Americans who oppose this bill to come to Washington tomorrow morning and join us to stop this bill.”

In a news release, King said other Republican lawmakers will appear, but didn’t list names. Thursday’s event drew House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.), House Republican Conference Chair Mike Pence (R-Ind.) and other conservative lawmakers.

There has GOT TO BE some way for us to stop this from passing...or I’m afraid we are going to end up going from Tea Party to Civil War in a flash!! Something’s got to give...I believe Americans are at the breaking point...I see it even among the “professionals” on the news networks...on both sides.

Like Beck has said....our country may not even be recognizable by the end of the year!

If Obama & Congress can't control 10%+ Unemployment with established policy fiscal/monetary tools and bureaucracies, why would voters be re-assured they take on and can manage, predict and efficiently control Health costs via a big, new public bureaucracy? Anyone? Rat lurkers??

I never thought I would say this, but maybe it’s time we took the government back by any means necessary. Wonder how long it will be before someone from the “gubmint” knocks on my door?

Something I read.

We are at an awkward time. It’s too late to work within the system and too early to shoot the bastards.

But the time is getting close. The Democrats are determned to push us until we make a stand.

I share your feeling of desperation. But I know that the vote in the House is only Round One in this match between the politicians and the people. In America the people will ALWAYS win unless they give up.....This is an issue we must not give up on.

Keep in mind folks any version of federal health care is unconstitutional since Article 1 Section 8 does not specifically grant Congress the power to regulate health care. Therefor the people are not bound to abide by an unconstitutional act. People need to respond with civil disobedience in order to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.

As I have said many times, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the others are not the problem, they are only the most visible symptom of the problem. The real problem is located in the mushy brains and the selfish attitudes of the people who voted for them.

The Founders were quite aware, and pointed out several times, that this experiment in self-government and unprecedented freedom would only work if fueled by the right kind of people. They could build the best governmental framework in the history of mankind (and did), but it would all be for naught if the country were someday populated by people who were selfish, irreligious, and lacked self-restraint (which is largely the case now).

Thus the famous statement by John Adams, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." I am afraid that we have reached the point where so many of our fellow citizens lack the character essential to the success of the American system that we will soon be forced to heed not just John Adams, but Thomas Jefferson in regards to his explanation of the purpose of the Second Amendment.

I don't know how else we extricate ourselves from the pit we've descended into. Sure, we can buy ourselves a temporary, limited reprieve by replacing many of the far-left politicians, but it will only be a matter of time before the tens of millions of brainwashed idiots vote them back in. We're just surrounded by too many stupid, foolish people many of whom seem to have no notion at all of allegiance to the United States, nor do they have the faintest idea of the principles the country was originally founded upon, and without which it will cease to exist.

There's only one way to stop this, and of course only in my dreams would it ever happen.

The Republicans - every last one of them - need to simply walk out and join the tea party on the front steps, denouncing the Rat package for exactly what it is in no uncertain terms. Hand it to them, lock, stock, and barrel, with flaming rhetoric.

Even the media lapdogs would have to cover it. Pelosi et al will then blink, because they'll have to.

Wow...so true. You sound as hopeless as I feel ;)

Perhaps we can divide the country straight down the middle, 50/50. We keep the Constitution and military, they get what they deserve.

I just watched it tonight.
It seemed a bit rushed but was pretty scary i thought.
I can’t believe the bigwigs at ABC let this one through.

At one point a human asked the Visitor “So, what you are offering us is ‘Universal Healthcare’”

If I were a betting man here’s my bet:

Congress has set up a redirect on their phone lines to a separate system with a phone bank....mostly you get busy signals...if you do get thru, the answerer directs you to one of 535 other phones (one per congresscritter) that answers and says: “this phone mailbox is full, good-bye”. Now my ‘sample of 1’ may be incomplete, but that’s what I got when I got thru and asked for Senator Bill Nelson!
