I just got through to my Congressman, Eric Massa (D-NY). I asked if he had made up his mind on Nancy Pelosi's health care bill and the staffer tole me he was voting NO, and was committed to that position.
Hooray!
Great news!
Wow, that’s somewhat of a coup.
And of course, Pelosi will say this has nothing to do with Obama and his Marxist agenda......nothing at all.
Apparently he’s figured out that he wants a shot at being re-elected rather than being Pelosi’s lapdog she’ll shoot the moment she doesn’t need him anymore.
Long term interests in his career. Very good for him to figure it out. His district voters trump Pelosi. Pray they all learn this lesson before any vote.
A lot of “blue dog” Dems will.
Until after the election.
Good deal — lets hope it a trend (I think it will be). pelosi has her seat all sewn up and doesn’t need to worry about getting elected.
Most democrats are crapping their pants in fear.
He is a freshman Dem who only won 51-49 in 2008. The district has a PVI of GOP +5 per the Cook Political Report.
WOW a Democrat with a conscience..who knew they still even exist..great news!
I have a theory that Pelosi is not so much looking for votes as she is trying to manipulate votes. If she can be sure of 218 she can signal some blue dogs that a no vote to preserve their political life is okay. This news about Massa makes me more confident that I’m on the right tracj with my scenario. I think it’s just deciding which dogs to offer a lifeline to.
I just got a robocall asking me to call my congress person to tell them to vote for the death bill. Not to disappoint I called ... unfortunately ... for them ... I said NOT to vote for the death bill
I haven;’t really been paying much attention to the news today, running errands and such...But this is the second Dem i’ve heard about today, that said they were not going to vote for the bill...The other was a woman , fro lousiana, or Nevada(?)
CAN YOU TRUST HIM???
Rep. Massa Addresses Netroots: I WILL VOTE AGAINST THE INTERESTS OF MY DISTRICT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXWmVBadWvU
This is the same congressman who said he would vote for the bill ( a few months back) even if 80% of his constituents were against it...
Yet, there have been persistent rumors that Pelosi can’t get more than 200 votes.
Well, if your congressman is a Caucasian she could still call him a racist bigot?
“I will adamantly vote against the interests of my district”
Rep Eric Massa at his town hall meeting this spring
He is a big proponent of a single-payer system. I remember his Nutroots speech over the summer, but he seems to be more of ideologue on health care (i.e., he would vote for single-payer if it came to a vote), but since this is not pure single-payer (although it WILL lead to it), he can still vote no on the bill and keep his support of a single-payer plan.
He also opposed cap and tax.
[Born in Charleston, S.C., the son of a career naval officer, Massa grew up in various locations, including Argentina and New Orleans. Massa graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1981 and went on to serve in the Navy for 24 years. He qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer on the USS New Jersey (BB-62), and eventually served as aide to former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, General Wesley Clark. . .]
Great minds.......etc. I say actions are better than words, after all, he is a ‘rat. Watch what he does rather than what he says he’ll do.
I will be watching his vote. I remembered his Nutroots video and asked the staffer if he was committed to his position and the staffer said he was. I made sure to thank him for his vote.
I also called Gary Peters (D-MI) who represents my parents. Peters’s office said he was UNDECIDED.
He is voting against it because it DOES NOT have a public option. He is a liberal fool and also wants troops out of Afghanistan. For a guy who served 20 years in the Navy he is a weasel. Massa worked as a manager for my company in Corning, NY and was much hated by the workers and eventually fired. Don’t put your hope in this dope.
massa is a jerkoff, first class... and with any luck he'll be a one termer
That is VERY good news ... I think in August he was supportive of it.
thats the first thing that came to mind when I saw this;I don’t trust him.
bingo... never, EVER trust a RAT!!!
This is interesting news. The last I heard of him he was saying how he was going to vote for DeathCare and against his constituents (which includes me).
I think I’ll have to check him after the vote (if there ever is one). Of course I want that guy gone anyway. Didn’t vote for him in the first place and would never vote for him. I hope we get someone good to run against him.

If you think I’m hoping on this dope to keep his word, you need to reread my post. Watch what he does, not what he says he’ll do.
As for a 20-year Navy man and boat school graduate, what can I say other than that John F’n Kerry was Navy, too. Then there’s ol’ John McCainiac-at least he’s got an excuse for his insanity(5yrs. in the Hanoi Hilton, but compare him with Rep. Sam Johnson, R-TX). Yes, the Navy has produced some real winners(fools). On the other hand, there are some honorable Navy vets, e.g., John O’Neill and the “Swifties”, etc. But, like K. Sutherland as a Marine LT in “A Few Good Men” said,”When we Marines want to go somewhere, the Navy always has a boat for us.” Or, something like that.
Keep chasing the rest of the pack!
Here are all the Blue Dog Democrats. The clickable links go to their online Message System. You can use this local district information --- City, State, Zip, and Area Codes-- to get through their spam filter. If they ask for a Zip+4, you can use any 4 digits added onto the indicated Zip Code.
The way I do it is, first copy all this information into a different (word) program. Then copy the line that has the city, zip, etc. for that particular district. The click the HTTP thingie to get into the Message System. Then paste the info. into one of the blanks, and point and drag the city, zip, etc. onto the correct lines.
Go get em.

Massa will do anything to get re-elected. He is a political prostitute.
He is no friend of conservatives -—just the opposite but took advantage of weak kneed RINOS who held that seat.
Massa said in the past in regards to supporting health care: “ I will vote adamantly against the interests of my district if I actually think what I am doing is going to be helpful.”
Not that I’d ever vote for him - but a NO vote is a NO vote at this point. Interesting post about him getting fired as a manager in Corning. I am wary, but I figured I’d better report what I heard.
“I hope we get someone good to run against him.”
Tom Reed hopes to run against Massa. Reed is the Republican mayor of Corning, NY. He’s done a good job so far.
http://www.tomreedforcongress.com/
Thanks for pointing it out.
Here’s the video of Massa being an arrogant SOB
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXWmVBadWvU
Don’t celebrate yet. He must have pull with Pelosi. Seeeeelling his soul against the will of the American people!!
Our local Rochester NY newspaper {rag} reported that Massa is bringing John Conyers to Rochester next week.
You know Congressman Conyers who joked at a press club luncheon that he didn’t or wouldn’t bother reading the bill because it would take several lawyers to interpret it and then laughed.
James Earl Carter was a Navy man as well.
You got that right. A point to be made is that the Navy has produced a lot of fools and they have all been on the left side of the aisle; and, McCain fits in that category whether he calls himself a Republican or not. McCain’s a fool in my book.
The bill does not go far enough to get rid of private insurers per Massa.
Take his no vote and then vote no for his re-election.
