Angry words as timetable for climate deal starts to slip (Copenhagen Treaty dying)
Breitbart/AFP ^ | 11/6/2009 | Unattributed

Green groups and activists for the developing world on Thursday accused rich nations of tiptoeing away from vows to seal a binding, far-reaching UN treaty on climate change in Copenhagen next month. Their bitter response came after European Union (EU) negotiators in Barcelona spelt out the likelihood that the much-trumpeted pact would be concluded in 2010, not at the December 7-18 meeting as planned.

The talks, launched under a two-year "road map" in Bali, call for a global accord to curb emissions of heat-trapping carbon gases beyond 2012 and channel funds to poor countries most threatened by drought, floods, storms and rising seas.

But, with little more than a month to go, delegates at the week-long talks in the Catalonian capital admitted to poor progress and the prospect of a delay.

"People are talking more and more about a framework, a framework (in Copenhagen) that then you could specify further in the following months," said Artur Runge-Metzger, the European Commission's chief negotiator, told reporters.

If so, "I think it should be done as early as possible," he said. "Normally, 'as early as possible' in the context of international conventions is something three months, six months, you need to allow that time."

He said states could still start implementing "fast track" measures as soon as January 2010 that would help to mitigate global warming and help poor, vulnerable countries.

Does that mean when 0bama finishes turning us into a poor country our typical drought, floods and storms that happen here every year will qualify us for UN funds?

"People are talking more and more about a framework, a framework (in Copenhagen) that then you could specify further in the following months,"

So is he saying we would enter into this and then they would literally make up what we should do later?

Bunch of despicable crooks.....

For those who haven’t been there, the Capital of Bali is one of the most polluted cities I’ve ever been in.

“Greenpeace climate policy director Martin Kaiser said US “intransigence (is) threatening to kill the prospect of a legally binding Copenhagen treaty.”

GOOD!!

There is a lot of wealth tied up in the carbon credit markets. My money’s on Goldman Sachs to get their way (again).

Americans must make it clear that Barack Obama does not have our support for this climate change garbage, we have no intention of respecting any such treaty he signs on our behalf. It is important for our allies to understand that Barack Obama does not enjoy the trust, respect, or support of the American people.

What's all this 'channel' talk? Just write 'em a check.

We all know this is about global power and wealth distribution. But what really makes me chuckle is the nitwits that think money will come pouring into poor countries. Cap & Tax will destroy the economies of all of the so-called "rich" nations. They will see a huge drop in tax revenue, and charitable giving that has helped developing nations will largely dry up as well.

3rd world poverty has nothing to do with "global warming." Corruption and lack of freedom are their biggest problems.

The problem (I know there are many when we are talking about the UN) with UN funds is that the US provides the bulk of UN funding. Do we pay ourselves this way?

They can't reach an agreement because global warming theory is rapidly losing support in the scientific community because of: 1) lack of evidence in the temperature history and, 2) errors and highly questionable assumptions in the IPCC's climate model.

I make the following bold predictions for the next twenty years: 1) hysteria about global warming will soon be replaced by hysteria about shortages of fossil fuels and sky-high oil and gasoline prices, 2) high prices of fossil fuels will push scientists and engineers in Corporate America, European companies, Japan Inc., and China Inc. up to full speed on development of alternative energy technologies and more fuel efficient motor vehicles, machinery, and appliances, 3) alternative energy sources and highly fuel efficient vehicles will become economically attractive because of very high oil and natural gas prices, 4) alternative energy sources and highly fuel efficient vehicles and appliances will replace fossil fuels and older vehicle/appliance technologies without significant subsidies and as a result of these free market forces, global CO2 emissions will decline steadily rather than increase, starting in 10-20 years, 5) despite higher CO2 output in the next ten years the earth’s temperature will not change significantly and scientists will figure out how they screwed up in their early global warming theories (...lol). Finally, due to the lack of global warming, developing countries will not be able to claim they were damaged by climate change and will have to return to their usual methods of extracting money from the wealthy countries.

I was there in 2001.
Considering how small Denpasar is, it was REALLY NASTY.
None of the resorts are in Denpasar for obvious reasons.

I was in Beijing in 2001, the week before the Olympic Committee would arrive, and thought it was the most polluted place I had ever been. Far, far worse than Los Angeles.

Please note that the Obama Administration's “Cap and Trade” legislation contains the American framework for establishing, operating, and funding the Copenhagen Climate Treaty. As proposed, the U.S. Cap and Trade scheme will impose legislation and taxation on U.S. industry. A portion of the taxes and assorted revenues raised then will be sent to a new U.N. sponsored global climate agency established by the Copenhagen Climate Treaty.

These funds will then be distributed to various third world nations, NGOs, and other environmental groups for numerous climate remediation projects of dubious value at best.

The Chicago Climate Exchange is also a part of this environmental mugging. The Exchange has been set up by groups and individual supporters and participants in the Cap and Trade scheme to trade carbon credits that parts of American industry will require. For example, American coal-fired power generators will need to buy carbon credits from third world organizations. More money will change hands and leave America this way. The Chicago Climate Exchange and its owners and managers will take a cut every time a trade is made.

This is but the tip of the spear. A whole new industry for shaking down America is being put into place. There will be consultants, carbon credit rating agencies, and other parasites feeding on the American people at every turn...even when someone turns on a light switch.

If nothing else, please be aware that these projects are all interrelated....that they have been put into place, piece by piece, over the years by the U.N., its NGOs, and others who hope to profit. All these projects were engineered to strip America of its wealth and transfer it to other nations, making the climate overseers rich in the process.
