Representative Stephanie Herseth Sandlin says she will oppose the health care reform bill expected to be considered this weekend in the House.
The South Dakota Democrat says the plan falls short of her goals for health care reform and could threaten existing access to health care for many South Dakotans. Herseth Sandlin says she's also concerned it doesn't do enough to bring down the federal deficit and could affect future health care for seniors.
The House could begin consideration this weekend of the 10-year, $1.2 trillion legislation that would extend health coverage to tens of millions of uninsured Americans and put tough new restrictions on insurance companies.
Herseth Sandlin says she is hopeful the bill can be improved by House and Senate negotiators.
Wrote and called her just yesterday! Woo Hoo!!!

Sent to Congresswoman Sandlin:
Remember Tom Daschle? I sent thousands of dollars to John Thune to ensure Daschles defeat.
Blue Dogs who vote for 0bummerCare can expect the same massive funding effort to unseat them.
Vote NO on 0bummerCare.
nice job DadOF5
In related news, this representative has been summoned to nancy pelosi’s office for an immediate impromptu meeting regarding funding for any federal project tentatively scheduled to take place in South Dakota./s (but probably not by much)..
LOL...cant miss the 2 of you represent at least 40% of her district. I say that jokingly as my wife if from a town of 600 in SD
Your email, the deluge of phone calls to the Hill, and the sea of patriots that flooded Congress, that’s what did this. At least one Congress critter was listening.
Pray for the poor operators on the switchboard. Oh btw, they are asking for your zip code so they can get you to your representative. I told her they all work for me, I don’t work for them. She hung up on me. That was a first.
The Dems at each office kept asking if I was a constituent. The Republicans usually don’t cuz they get it.
Rats leaving the ship a little early aren’t they?
“LOL...cant miss the 2 of you represent at least 40% of her district.”
Hey, there’s at least three or four of us ;) Her operator recognizes me by name now - haha!
Dear Supporter,
Have you ever helped "whip" a vote? Well, get ready.
Before a vote takes place, most Members of Congress are asked ahead of time which way they'll vote. It's called tallying the "whip count." It helps us figure out who needs to hear from us, and who's already made up their mind. There are 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. That's a lot - and we can't do all this counting alone.
Our goal today is to call every single office and ask how they'll vote on "The Affordable Health Care for America Act," H.R. 3962. Can you help whip a vote? Click here to whip a health care vote.
The vote will likely happen on Saturday (that's tomorrow!), and it could be incredibly close. Help make sure Congress votes for this bill, which would:
Vastly improve access to quality, affordable health care coverage Provide a strong public option that will compete side-by-side with insurance companies; Eliminate insurance company "rescission" and denial of coverage due to "pre-existing conditions"; End insurance company discrimination against women.
You can bet that insurance companies like UnitedHealth, Humana and CIGNA have a legion of lobbyists talking to Congressional offices right now. We've got to make sure they remember who they were elected to represent - the American people. Help hold politicians accountable by whipping the vote for health care reform. Tell them to vote for H.R. 3962, "The Affordable Health Care for America Act."

Way to go! And I’m sure she’s doing it through gritted teeth. Maybe she’ll get punished by EMILY’s list - oh nooooooo! I have her number in my cell phone, but don’t need it - I have it memorized!
I just sent her $25. It's a small price to pay and we could use more representatives in Congress with balls, regardless of their political affiliations.
All she got was curt thank-you from me. She’s doing her job for once - representing the conservative values of South Dakota. She’s the only rep we’ve got and I hope she’s defeated in 12 short months.
Line’s busy!
(D) Kratovil from Maryland’s 1st congressional district is telling callers he is voting against it as well.
(0bummer wanted bi-partisanship, right? Well now he has it, in opposition to 0bummerCare!!!)
“She’s too damn good looking for a Dem anyhow.”
Really? Her eyes are hard and her hair reminds me of a mop.
The picture doesn’t due her justice. For a Dem she is hot
A sane one? Wow

Is there a thread for “Rats leaving a sinking ship” yet?
Is she related to the East Texas rat Max Sandlin?
That’s her husband.
My Daugher in Law is her cousin then, wait till I see her father. ( We served in the Army together.) Hey, John one of your ridge runner relitives got it right for a change.
The family is originally from Decatur. Alabama, very nice people.
I think she’s cute.
She’s pretty much a blue dog, right?
He’s feeling the heat as well. Blue dogs and Dems who barely beat a GOP opponent last fall are all probably voting “NO” tomorrow.

You’re not the only one. My whole family, friends and neighborhood have been driving her and her staff crazy with our calls and letters.
She got the message!
Senator Johnson (D-South Dakota), you’re next!
Not sure how long these types of things will be sarcasm only. I do wish, though, that anytime anyone is “summoned” to the bigwigs’ offices, they would go with a tape recorder or an amanuensis. Shout their threats and intimidation. from the mountaintops
A few years ago I saw Stephanie Herseth on CSPAN talking about national security. I wrote her an email that said the most important thing she could do to improve national security is get married and have some children. Apparently Mrs Sandlin is able to take good advice, which is a good trait in a politician.
Maybe she plans to challenge Thune for Senate in 2010.

+++++++++++++++
Expected, or not?
I like these public statements from the Dems. Makes them easier to count.
In the case of these entrenched Blue Dogs, many cannot be opposed for the lack of available candidates. Henry Cuellar of TX, once a favorite of Rick Perry and GWB, can vote any way he pleases and still draw more than 2/3 of the vote from constitutents.
Now people need to concentrate on Blue Dog Whip Heath Shuler.
Great work by Dad Of 5 and Uncle Miltie. Keep the pressure on folks. Keep calling and faxing. :-)
Herseth Sandlin = DINO.
Senator Johnson (D-South Dakota), youre next!
Senator Johnson, like myself, owes his continued life to the PRESENT medical system/ So how about an acknowledgment of the fact, by voting down this attempt at exploding what is undeniably the greatest health care system on earth, bar none.
Mayday mayday, calling Senator Johnson. SILENCE!
This monstrocity must be defeated.

Steffi knows she would be ousted in 2010 by a wide margin if she voted for Obamacare. She also voted against cap and tax for the same reason.
I see him at church every weekend. I won’t be able to hold my tongue if he votes for this monstrosity.
Is anyone keeping a list of Dem no’s?
