Muslim Veterans Group Says No Reports of Harassment of Islamic Soldiers

A Muslim veteran affairs organization says it has not received reports of harassment from Islamic soldiers, contrary to claims by a relative of the man authorities say is responsible for the worst mass killing on a U.S. military base.
Abdul-Rashid Abdullah, deputy director of the American Muslim Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Council, told FoxNews.com that the nonprofit group has not received a single report recently of a U.S. soldier being harassed "simply because he was Muslim."
"That kind of report is inconsistent with what we've heard," Abdullah said prior to a press conference in Washington to denounce Thursday's shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, that left 13 dead and 30 wounded. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a 39-year-old Army psychiatrist who was reportedly due to be deployed later this month, is accused in the mass shooting.
Abdullah said his organization, which condemned the "unspeakable" attack, serves "several thousand" Muslim soldiers.

The truth is that every serviceman and woman who is Muslim should be under periodioc review as a security risk.It should be accepted as a matter of their service that they will be reviewed for flipping potentioal into the jihadi berzerker mode.
This is particularly true for those who receive notice of posting to a Muslim theater of war, where they prosecute war against their own.

What are the numbers of US soldiers being harassed and murdered by Muslims ?
Are we allowed to ponder that dynamic ?
” Lt. Col. Les Melnyck, a Defense Department spokesman, said that as of August, 3,557 active duty troops of roughly 1.4 million identified themselves as being Muslim. .....
adding that 1,710 Muslims are currently serving in the Army, by far the most of any service branch.”
A percentage of these have to have the same sympathies as Hasan .
Will PC policies continue the pattern of ignoring the obvious red flags until the next attack of domestic terrorism ?
Heads should roll for this egregious intelligence failure .
To: SJackson
Screw politcal correctness, bring back “profiling” now. Watch the left use this “harassment” excuse but this guy was mouthing off all over the place his Muslim beliefs and putting down the military and America. So if he was “harassed” in any way, he brought it down on himself.

The picture I'm getting is that this guy wasn't harassed, he was going out of his way to proselytize, start arguments and antagonize fellow soldiers.
He was certainly not officer material, but I suppose the Army was reluctant to cut him after spending so much for his education.

To avoid upsetting a few hundred muslim soldiers at most, all Americans face the risk of incidents like Nov. 5th at Ft. Hood, Texas.
Something is wrong with the logic and the prioritization.
Surely a reporter will ask Obama, or his press secretary, or an Army General soon.

The truth is that every serviceman and woman who is Muslim should be under periodic review as a security risk. I agree and it should also be for any service member with a past association with white supremacy or past gang affiliations. It does not mean they are not currently good or even excellent solders it just means that a little more periodic reviews should be conducted.

I don’t want to belabor it, but they should continue to serve honorably as they have in the past. I’ve posted several threads about Muslim servicemembers. I acknowledge over a period of years. The peoblem here seems to be that warning signs, huge warning signs, were ignored. Not only ignored, but in the face of poor performance reviews and what seems to be aberrant pronouncements, he was not only not disciplined, but promoted. I suspect his faith may have been an issue in what might have been willful disregard of his unsuitability

If he was harassed at all it wasn't because he is a Muslim. It was because he was spouting the typical "Death to America" jihadi BS. He wasn't harassed enough obviously. When someone says they hate you and want you dead you ignore it at your peril.

You are probably correct. I do admit that I made my #17 absolutely polar in order to stimulate a discussion on this matter. Like the Japanese in WWII, blanket condemnation is unjust. However this article does bring out a couple of points I feel should be addressed:
- Years ago, here on FR (probably when the soldier in Kuwait fragged his colleagues in their tents) we discussed whether Muslims could find "justification" in their Koranic beliefs to nullify the oath that we veterans made to "uphold and defend the Constitution...". IIRC, we determined that Islam probably could be construed to take precedence over their oath.
- The very existence of a "Muslim veterans group" could constitute a focused listing of Muslim servicemen who might be exhibiting early signs of divided allegiance. As such, it could be a place where millitary intelligence might begin a search for servicemembers who are showing early warning signs of the type you described. IOW, that membership is a "self-flagged" group.
Notice that I did not posit a blanket expulsion of Muslims from our Services -- but that the membership of that group had
de facto singled themselves out as servicemembers with possibly-divided loyalties.
As far as I can determine, Christianity (aside from possible pacifism conflicts) does not per se conflict with loyalty oaths.
Islam, OTOH, places "precedent claims" upon its members that could well make them inherent security risks.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Aside from summary expulsion, how do we assure that Muslims are faithful to their Constitutional oath? Have them renew it -- when the Koran specifically permits them to lie to unbelievers...?
I suppose my problem is that I view Islam to be a de facto conflict of interest with faithful service to the Constitution.
Your thoughts? (BTW, if you have links to the "several threads about Muslim servicemembers" you have posted, I will do you the courtesy of reading -- and discussing them -- before I begin to "firm up" my analysis of this situation.)
You have a point about the potentiality of a religion vs nation loyalty issue, but you deal with that when it happens. Though I’d disagree with the premise, religion is invoked on occasion when claiming conscious (sp)objector status, but that’s quite different that siding against your nation. The fact that a Muslim finds justification for the murder of infidels. Unfortunately the Muslim community has done little to differentiat between themselves and jihadists, so it’s a issue for the beholder.
Hadn’t thought about the organization issue. Though there are Jewish veteran’s groups, I don’t recall a Jewish servicemembers group. Maybe there are now, I don’t know.
I’m on a blackberry and can’t search for a couple days, but I’ll try to remember. Several were on antiterrorism, a reader might not have recognized the author was a Muslim vet. . .
A final note of tangental interest, Israel has a problem or two with jihadists, yet Bedoins and Druze serve in the IDF with distinction.
This POS did not need to be profiled. He advertised his sentiments.
I’m wondering if the authorities thought his religious fervor and anti-American statements might be related to his desire to get out of his contract. A new version of “If I say I’m gay I might not be drafted.”
To: SJackson
'Abdullah said his organization, which condemned the "unspeakable" attack, serves "several thousand" Muslim soldiers.' It is not the veterans, but those servicemen they "serve" that should be of immediate interest. ...and don't tell me they don't have a "list" of those they "serve"...
