$230,769.23 Spent Per Stimulus Job "Created or Saved"
Weekly Standard ^ | October 30, 2009 | Daniel Halper

Posted on 11/06/2009 8:17:07 AM PST by IrishMike

The White House’s stimulus program is a joke. Indeed, the Obama administration would be better served if it handed out money on the side of the street, than it is by its current job creation program. Consider the current numbers:

Reports to be released Friday on the government Web site Recovery.gov are expected to show that the $150 billion in grants and loans made so far under the economic stimulus package have created or saved about 650,000 jobs, White House officials said Friday morning.

Now, some simple math:

Cost: $150,000,000,000

“Created or saved” jobs: 650,000

Cost per “created or saved” job = $230,769.23

And the White House call this a success?

Yes, yes it does. Joe the-vice-president Biden’s chief economist, Jared Bernstein, says:

“Good news, folks…But as we applaud these unprecedented efforts in transparency and this new confirmation that the Recovery Act is successfully creating jobs across America, we are also acutely aware that even the highest estimates of jobs created or saved by the Act only partially offset the extent of job losses since the recession took hold last year. For this reason, we plan to continue to squeeze every job out of every dollar left to spend in the Recovery Act, and to do so with the same level of transparency achieved thus far.”

Here, folks, is the Obama administration squeezing good news out of bad news. But transparency reigns supreme: the economic news still looks bad.

As well as approx. 24K per household for cash for clunkers failed policy.

The ONLY thing Obama has done successful is get a puppy and date nights costing us bucks.<——so this isn’t even successful. Don’t even start me on how much money Obama spent on WH deco for halloween while we are in a depression.

I’m in north east FL and we have 6 guys cutting some trees for FPL(electric company)
I asked why have you come from AL, they told me it was aprt of the stimulas money

HUH

I asked how ling is their job and do they have another after they finish.
The reply was
no we do not and we’re here for another week and have been doing this for a couple of weeks .

Why the hell would guys from AL come all this way to cut some tree branches away form the electric lines when they could have got a local company and then I find it is my tax money paying for a short term job .

And the the left sheep support those who do not read the bills they vote on and then support this crap.

Seems they the Govt are trying to get jobs on a short term basis so as not to be counted into the unemployment figures

$230,769.23

Gimmie my check for $230,769.23, let me have full control of that money and I can retire in 12 - 18 months.

Instead... it is gone, vanished, pizzed away by the current communist administration that prances around in front of the tee-vee cameras applauding each other on how magnificently wonderful and "progressive" their "bold new ideas" are that are "saving the world."

Right.

that numbers so understated because their job numbers are so inflated. Its probably 3x the cost.

With all the money this administration is spending, I half expect there to be a $230,769.23 bill issued in the next few years to compensate for inflation.

It will be approximately enough to purchase one measure of wheat and three measures of barley.

/we are soooo screwed

The numbers are SOOOO gamed.

For example, a caller on the Tom Sullivan Show reported that his small company did several small jobs funded by stimulus re-distribution-of-wealth. For each job, he had to list his crew (8 peeps IIRC) as NEW HIRES. So, for the same company, and the same employees, he HAD to list them as NEW HIRES EACH JOB, thus creating the illusion of (64 IIRC) new hires; when in truth, the employment picture for his company had never changed an iota.

.

Drive around, wherever you are in this great country.

Do you see a sudden burst of commerce? Throngs of new hires heading to work? I'll bet not.

No sane person would be taking on financial liabilities in the face of impending Cap and Confiscate, Healcare Confiscation, and Card Check union take-overs.

.

Can't we be honest and just say jobs created or government dependent union positions

Propped up

instead of saved. They way they say in the MSM/Admin it makes it sound like it actually is part of the real economy, not the phoney state economy.

“Cap and Confiscate, Healcare Confiscation, and Card Check”

Global Warming legislation = kick economy in privates
Healthcare Takeover = stomp on economy’s head while down.
Card Check = handcuff and add ball and chain so economy cannot get back up.
