WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is pushing back a trip to Capitol Hill aimed at discussing the proposed health care overhaul with lawmakers.

Obama had planned to head to the Capitol on Friday. Now the White House schedule shows Obama planning to visit the Capitol on Saturday.

First I know it has been quite some time since my last post but as a many know I am a military spouse as well as former military member and I have been quite involved with military issues.

Having said that, after watching today's news conference where he went on, gave a shout out and the audience applauded, whistled, while the breaking banner said "dead and injured at Ft Hood" and 2 minutes in he FINALLY addressed the situation at Ft Hood. I watched in shock.

I am at my wit's end this man is contemptable.

Families are waiting to know what they need to plan on for Afghanastan and Obama doesn't care.

Now I read this, and I honestly do not believe there is a sincere bone in our CIC's body, they can say this was planned but all they have talked about was his VISIT to Capital Hill tomorrow (Friday). Would it be wrong for me to think this way?

My prayer's go out to all those at Ft Hood, they are my military family and to all their families all over the world. We have the most amazing military in the entire world.

So the AP wants us to think "Wow, he's even passing up a chance to drone on about healthcare? What a guy!"

I've seen your name many times on interesting threads, so it's good to see you posting again.

I can’t see him being double booked. So I think this is another lie. He has changed his plans due to the Ft. Hood incident.

No, you aren’t wrong. He is the most disgusting piece of work I can ever remember seeing in ANY position of power in this country. Even bill clinton would not have been this despicably obvious.
I don’t think he will be received well at WR, especially after today. But you will never hear it.

Darkwolf377 I recall your insightful posts well, it is good to see you to.

Yes, they wanted the calender for tomorrow out there but not the header heaven forbid anyone knows his true schedule someone might just let it slip this was NOT on the calender.

I firmly believe he is doing this because of Ft Hood. Now the question when will he decide to turn Ft Hood into a personal campaign for him like he did at Dover AFB.

Again great to see you as well.

If this happened under Bush’s Presidency and he did NOT rush to Texas, the outcry would be high decibel:

“What is wrong with the President? Why doesn’t he fly immediately to Texas, to comfort the families?”

(Don’t be surprised if he winds up going to Texas soon. It is all about him first; not the families at their time of crisis.)

I am conviced that he did as well. Of course the left will say that I am unamerican for questioning his motives. Well, I am a military spouse and I frankly think I have earned the right to wonder what he does when it regards our military and challange him when I think it is a publicity stunt.

Let me say, in general the Prez should visit our troops but this guy has only been to Walter Reed once and it was the day before he took office and Landstuhl (Germany) once as well. Ok getting to Germany, tough but he did go over seas for the Olympic bid and oh yeah the White House is only 45 minutes away give or take a few with traffic.

If I had to gander I would bet our injured troops would prefer that he remain at the WH doing what is needed to help fellow troops and their families at Ft Hood. I imagine some will even feel guilty that he is there. This is just such bad timing, the man has a tin ear ..

I mean after how he addressed this during his remarks with the American Indians I tell you that was one of the lowest times I have watched a sitting prez address the media and country and it took him 2 minutes to finally get around to Ft Hood, that is after shouting out, the audience laughing and oh yeah whistling. Than he said “you all know about the event’s at Ft Hood” so the audience knew and they still were not solomn.

Oh I am just getting more angry as I go.

A friend who voted for Obama and now deeply regrets doing so was explosively angry about the Dover appearance.

I think that and his "shout out" today are two moments which will fly under the radar of many pundits, but will later turn out to be turning points in Obama's popularity. I don't think we've seen the end of his poll freefall, based on that Obama voter I know, who isn't a conservative but a thoughtful right-leaning moderate. Well, he WAS.

He won't go to Texas until his drones can guarantee a friendly, adoring crowd -- that may be never.

If I were a family member of one of the dead, or were I one of the injured, he's the last person I'd want to see.

Remember the young soldier who was murdered by a Muslim fanatic outside the recruiting station in Arkansas? Obama didn't even bother acknowledging it for 3 days.

One just has to think they could only convince ONE family to be photographed for this. That says it all, if it were about the troops you would take the majority of thought’s and keep cameras out but it was all about Obama.

I can understand your friend. I actually read a facinating article in of all places the NYT where they returned to Iowa and followed up with voter’s and boy oh boy did many feel they were sold a bill of goods.

He is doing to much, to fast and spending as if he has Obamamoney.

Darkwolf when he did that shout out, when he delayed his remarks I teared up I thought here is a national tragedy and he is only worried about him and what he can get at that moment and he hurt the military and all those freedom loving American’s who think our military should be treated far better.

Oh, I think this will make the way of You Tube, and we need to get it to as many as possible go to newsbuster.org Obama didn’t even get the medal right, than again he did not have a teleprompter.

His number’s will go down I am sure of it.

This is the first time he’s been to Walter Reed as CiC? That’s incredible.

I don’t get why they can’t just say that he decided to visit Walter Reed because of the shootings. There’s no dishonor in that, but there is dishonor in lying about the schedule. If he’s smart, he won’t allow a plethora of pictures.

truth_seeker you ask an excellent question. The press would be all over Bush for misteps, if there weren’t any they would attempt to find them. Obama has a tin ear that is out of space. I mean he is all about himself and when he gave the news conference today that was what you saw, he was there to help a special interst group, heaven forbid tragic events at Ft hood should get in the way of fundraising and promising the moon.

Oh, I am sure they are doing their best to find a way to make a trip so he can look mournful as it was “depicted” at Dover AFB.

BTW, great seeing you again, bin quite a while.

when he did that shout out, when he delayed his remarks I teared up

I have to be honest, my reaction was different. I felt like a computer that froze up. I just couldn't get my head around what I was seeing.

And then I realized the reason--it confirmed everything I've always believed about this hollow, empty LITTLE man with the loud voice. THAT is why I was confused, the collision of my (interior) thoughts with (exterior) reality. I thought, "He really DOES care more about votes and winning LOVE ala Bill Clinton than, well, ANYTHING." Or anyone.

And as I said, I think it will take some time for people to realize that his actions today are the beginning of the end for his political career. I'm not saying it's the worst or least thing he's done, it's just that we can never tell what kind of impact something will have. It's always something that kind of sneaks up on you, and it takes awhile for the body politic to really GET it.

skr, yes, my beloved and I got into a heated discussion about it I was certain he had not been there since taking office, Dave wanted me to be certain he had thought he had gone and in the end after researching the Army Times, we were both right he went on MLK Birthday the day prior to taking office, so he was yet the official CIC and then to Germany once.

So, when I see the Dover op, I have to wonder what the ploy is, he can’t decide on Afghanastan and now all of a sudden after months he want’s to mourne our troops and go visit the injured a day after the worst event in military history on American soil.

I agree, perhaps being upfront would be better but even if he said that I still would think why, the injured from Ft Hood are all over TX again it just seems like a ploy.

Do NOT misunderstand, I think most troops would enjoy a visit from their President even if you do not share his political philosophy but I think even they would see through it.

ArmstedFragg, I fear you are right, and that is an area I am just doing my best to avoid. I deal with military families, they need to know where their future is with the military. I mean Obama told us back in March, then a few more times, so we are patient military families but even we have our frustrations.

The consequences of failure would be breathtaking, not just for our security but the future of our US Military.

“It’s always something that kind of sneaks up on you, and it takes awhile for the body politic to really GET it.”

His spinners aren’t really very good, at all.

How will he explain this guy being an advisor, on his Transition Team?

I’ll bet a bunch of military leaders will relish the chance to make it known they are stuck with personnel like this, lest they offend the diversity, political correctness guidelines forced on them.

All the stuff found in hours, the interviews like the “allah akbar” shout, the video in muslim garb...happened so fast nobody in the administration could control it.

I agree that as Americans get to know Obama better, they like him less and less.

Let’s hope by next November they strip him of congressional majorities (or trim it to ineffectual scale).

When GOP candidates run next year I hope to hear promises to undo the stupid bailouts/stimulus to government, health care wealth redistribution, etc.

America was duped into believing he was a “moerate” but he so clearly is extremely socialist domestically, and aims to weaken America’s military and international power.

Oh, some might say, we wish for the good ol’ Clinton days. I say that with a smile but oh boy the differences are staggering.

“I just got an email from someone who pooh-poohs all of that, and insists it’s far more telling that he “apparently has no close friends and is estranged from society”. “

I expect the political and military explanation will be he was mentally unstable—just not detected soon enough.

Military will take the blame. “We have systems in place to discover things like this, in his case we just didn’t know how serious it was, blah, blah, we’ll try harder.”

Instead of a simple case of “Eventual Jihad.” (Similar to, but not the same as Mentally Unstable).

Islam is Permanent Mental Instability, if followed to letter of the holy koran.

A huge thank you to you and yours for your service.

There’s been much discussion in this country about water-boarding Al-Queda prisoners as “torture.” What did any of our injured at Walter Reed ever do to deserve the torture of being visited by a communist, America-hating incompetent? If I was a patient there, I believe that if he approached my bed or chair I would turn my back to him.

THE FACTS:

Obama’s mother married an Indonesian man when Obama was 6 years old and they moved together from Hawaii to Indonesia. From age 6 to 10, Obama lived in Indonesia with his mother and step-father, who—like most Indonesians—was Muslim. As Obama explains in his autobiography, Dreams of My Father (which was first published almost 10 years ago, far before he ran for the presidency):

At age 10, Obama moved back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents. So he spent a grand total of five years in Indonesia, only two of which he spent attending a Muslim school.

Moreover, at the time Obama lived in Indonesia, roughly 1967-1972, militant Islam was virtually unknown to that part of the world. The predominant form of Islam in Indonesia at the time—and still today—was a blend of Islamic and pre-existing animist beliefs and traditions.

Furthermore, while the term “Madrassah” is often used as shorthand for a specific type of radical Islamic school where new jihadists are indoctrinated, the term simply means “school” in Arabic (and, by extension, a number of other languages). There is no reason to think the school Obama attended was anything other than a typical Indonesian school.

So let’s recap the facts:

1) Obama was not “raised as a Muslim.” He was raised primary by his mother and grandparents, none of whom were Muslims. His step-father, whom he lived with for only five years, was a Muslim, but a very traditionally Indonesian one. Obama is a practicing Christian.

2) Obama did not attend a “radical Madrassah” during his time in Indonesia. During his five years there (from age 6 to 10), he split his time between a local Muslim school and a local Catholic school.

3) Obama has not concealed any of this information. To the contrary, it is all laid out in detail in his two autobiographical books.

Obama’s mother and step-father did not have much money. They couldn’t afford to send him to the expensive International schools in Jakarta, so instead they sent him to a local public school (the so-called “madrassah”) and a nearby Catholic school.

Mystery solved!

Here’s a better question: if you have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about and are unwilling to do even the most minimal research or thought, why should anyone care about what you have to say? You didn’t even know which ‘foreign country’ you were talking about.
