Major Nidal Malik Hasan - Shooter and Killer at Ft. Hood Texas was just promoted in May of 2009 to Major reports US Army Times

The Army major suspected of opening fire on soldiers as they were preparing to deploy overseas at the massive Fort Hood military base in central Texas Thursday was an Army psychiatrist who recently completed training in treating traumatic stress disorder at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in the nation's capital.

Virginia state medical licensing records list a Nidal Malik Hasan as a psychiatrist for the Army Medical Corps, with his primary practice at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood.

At least 12 people were killed (Including Hasan) and 31 wounded in a shooting at Fort Hood Army Base near Killeen, Texas, when at least one gunmen opened fire on soldiers who were making their final deployment preparations.

S Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas told FOX News: "I do know that he has been known to have told people that he was upset about going (to Iraq)."

Virgina Board of Medicine

Hasan is from Virginia, and was single with no children. He was 39 years old. They report he is a graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997.

According to Lt. Gen. Bob Cone at Fort Hood, the shooter used two handguns in the attacks at the Soldier Readiness Center on Thursday around 1:30 CDT. The gunman was then shot and killed by a civilian policeman.

Black Hills Today staff send their thoughts and prayers to the families and friends killed and injured in this horrible crime.

That is inconsitent with "they had concerns" but very consistent with how disorganized some things are in the military...

This promotion means nothing.

The promotion of a military physician from Captain to Major is automatic. There is no review. If the doctor is not at Leavenworth, he is promoted.

"The promotion of a military physician from Captain to Major is automatic. There is no review. If the doctor is not at Leavenworth, he is promoted. "

No doubt about it. I've seen officers and SNCOs get promoted smack-dab in the middle of an Article 32 investigation, even a court-martial a few times. Once a FITREP is submitted, it comes down purely to time-in-grade, time-in-service, MOS and demand. That's it.

In the government (whether civil service or military), when a member of a minority doesn't get promoted, there's a good chance that the individual will file a grievance based on "racial" or "ethnic" discrimination. So maybe they promoted him just to avoid the hassle. It happens.

His co-workers had concerns. The authorties seemed to think he was a victim.

Does anyone know when he was to be deployed?
Tomorrow? Next week? Next month?

Thankfully, as a Army psychiatrist, the only "intel" he had access to was where the coffee machine was located and the closing hours of the local PX.

I’d like a little more profiling data than we’ve gotten so far. Hearing the first details of this hours ago, my first thought was that the ONLY profile it fit was US Soldiers committed to Islam opening fire on a roomful of victims.
It was revealed that he had two handguns and 44 rounds were fired in all, most by him but some by two possible confederates.
Then it came out he was a MAJOR, and then that he was a psychiatrist. Before those details I had made up my mind he was not some Egyptian, Saudi, Iraqi- or other- born Muslim,
but a recent convert to Islam, and was going to be shown to be, once photographs came out, an African-American. THe picture says different, and the other info states he was
“from Virginia”. So I was only partly right, but at the beginning I had NO DOUBT this was a Muslim perp.
Ironic also NOBODY has mentioned the oddball coincidence of him going to Virginia Tech, which apparently everybody’s forgotten was the site of another gruesome massacre.

Seems he had time to practice his small arms skills.

Guy was a nut, amongst nuts. With the training he had, he could cover his actions to the point where no one would suspect him of anything.

While I do not know for how long this man may have been providing psychiatric services for the Army, I’d wager to bet he had access to lists of soldiers who were getting ready to be deployed overseas - could be useful information for his masters.

Do we know he hadn't caused the deaths of other soldiers by misusing his medical training? The downsides to that are he's only killing folks who are already out of action and he doesn't get to be a shaheed that way.

(Please us the Arabic Muslim term, these murderous scum have nothing in common with real martyrs.)

I read that he was scheduled to be deployed to Afghanistan in January.

He wanted the Muslims to rise against the American invaders and equated a soldier falling on a grenade to protect his brothers-in-arms to the acts of a suicide bomber.

Hmmm, what is wrong with this picture?/sarc

According to this page, he attended med school at the University of Damascus, graduating in 1990. Also, he did his residency in psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University F. Edward Hbert School of Medicine.

Did Homeland Security and the Brass at Walter Reed ignore his rantings, promoted him and sent him to Ft Hood?

Mark Stein does a great job of shredding the pc bs and getting to reality of Islamic Killers in America and around the world:

MARK STEYN: MULTICULTURAL ILLUSIONS KILL - NO STRATEGY TO DEFEND AGAINST IDEOLOGY
dakota beacon ^ | November 06, 2009 | Mark Steyn

Posted on Friday, November 06, 2009 9:36:18 AM by Mount Athos

Thirteen dead and 31 wounded would be a bad day for the US military in Afghanistan, and a great victory for the Taliban. When it happens in Texas, in the heart of the biggest military base in the nation, at a processing center for soldiers either returning from or deploying to combat overseas, it is not merely a “tragedy” (as too many people called it) but a glimpse of a potentially fatal flaw at the heart of what we have called, since 9/11, the “war on terror”. Brave soldiers trained to hunt down and kill America’s enemy abroad were killed in the safety and security of home by, in essence, the same enemy – a man who believes in and supports everything the enemy does.

And he’s a US Army major.

And his superior officers and other authorities knew about his beliefs but seemed to think it was just a bit of harmless multicultural diversity – as if believing that “the Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressor” (ie, his fellow American soldiers) and writing Internet paeans to the “noble” “heroism” of suicide bombers and, indeed, objectively supporting the other side in an active war is to be regarded as just some kind of alternative lifestyle that adds to the general vibrancy of the base.

When it emerged early on Thursday afternoon that the shooter was Nidal Malik Hasan, there appeared shortly thereafter on Twitter a flurry of posts with the striking formulation: “Please judge Major Malik Nadal [sic] by his actions and not by his name.”

The above is an excerpt. Go to the link below for Mark’s complete oped.
