New AARP chief gave big to Obama

Incoming AARP CEO A. Barry Rand contributed $8,900 to President Obama's campaign committees, federal records show.

Rand, a retired senior executive at Xerox Corp., Avis Group and Equitant Inc. and the current chairman of Howard University's board of trustees, gave the maximum $4,600 to Obama's election campaign and an additional $4,300 to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising entity of Obama and the Democratic National Committee.

Altogether, Rand has given $15,900 to Democratic campaign committees since 1995, according to searches of Federal Election Commission databases dating back to 1990 that are maintained by CQ Money Line and the Center for Responsive Politics. . .

The AARP wants out of its insurance commitments.

So it's little wonder they need a way for the government to "take care" of their customers.

From the article:

Nearly all of Rand’s campaign contributions came during the 2007-2008 election cycle. In addition to the $8,900 he gave to Obama, Rand contributed $4,500 to a leadership PAC maintained by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.), the National Leadership PAC, between 2004 and 2008. Rand also gave $500 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) in 2007, $1,000 to the unsuccessful Senate campaign of then-Rep. Harold Ford (D-Tenn.) in 2006 and $1,000 to President Clinton’s reelection campaign in 1995.

Except for the donations to Clinton and the DSCC, Rand’s other contributions went to fundraising committees supporting black candidates. Rand became the first-ever black CEO of a Fortune 500 company when he took the helm at Avis, where he also was chairman of the board, in 1999. He was chairman and CEO of Equitant from 2001 until 2005, when he retired. Rand will be the AARP’s first black chief executive.

:::::::::
The AARP management has been a far-left mob almost since day-one. Now they represent the worst possible interest of their membership of seniors, while gladly taking their money for Medicare Supplemental insurance policies. (getting their cut anyway). Another liberal lie that the AARP represents the interests of their membership.

More on this:

...but, but...the AARP insists it doesn’t endorse legislation!....even though they did just that for Obamacare today.

This outfit is dangerous!

Immigration...healthcare...ALL the same enforcers....

SEIU & AARP....FYI

“AARP does not operate a PAC, but its employees gave candidates, committees and parties $53,200, with Democrats receiving 90 percent of that.”

SEIU & AARP...joined at the hip and helping write amnesty/healthcare legislation. AARP uses your dollars to fund the likes of:

MALDEF - Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund

AARP says: “”Anybody who looks at immigration has to look at aging,” says Harry R. Moody, director of academic affairs at AARP. “First, immigration affects the age structure of society” by adding younger members to the population, he says. “Second, the people who do hands-on care work are immigrants. Look at our nursing homes! We have an image of people picking tomatoes — that’s not the whole story. Immigrants are the front-line caregivers.”

Meet AARP’s New CEO: A. Barry Rand

A. Barry Rand, chairman of the Board of Trustees at Howard University and a nationally recognized agent for social change, has been tapped as AARP’s new chief executive officer. He will become the organization’s first African American CEO when he assumes the position in April.

AARP Welcomes Jacob Lozada

AARP Board member Jacob Lozada gives AARP Segunda Juventud readers his perspective on issues facing U.S. Hispanics and how he hopes to boost AARP’s profile in his native Puerto Rico.

AND AARP works hand in hand with the SEIU. They are the ones formulating the legislation that the dems are pushing.

“– AARP, Business Roundtable and SEIU, which together represent more than 50 million Americans, today took another groundbreaking step for their “Divided We Fail” group by jointly delivering endorsed principles for health information technology (IT) legislation to Congress.

From AARP website:

Health-Care Reform
AARP applauds the House of Representatives for moving health care reform forward with the introduction of the Affordable Health Care for America Act. In the coming days, AARP will carefully review this comprehensive bill to determine precisely how it will affect the health care of all older Americans. The Association looks forward to continuing to work with members of the House and Senate to pass a health care bill this year that protects and improves Medicare and makes quality health coverage available to Americans of all ages.

AARP will continue losing membership with alliances like this. And then they will examine how they might benefit from getting folded into some Agency of the Obama Administration, and we will be expected to finance their new identity involuntarily. Just watch.
It won’t happen until they start to really feel it. Then the two can get together in a way they’ve been trending toward for years.

Is anyone still a member of aarp? i have personally helped kill off that organization by actively helping friends find other discount groups, and...i return every mailing they send begging for renewal of my membership with a declaration that they do not represent my viewpoint scrawled across the form...then they have to pay the postage!!! In reality, most congressmen know the vast number of aarp members are folks just looking for motel discounts!

No one gets into to see Obama, unless you donate to his campaign. He bans lobbyists, but he sees anyone who donates for first. There was an article in the WSJ that said that some lobbyists have actually de-registered, and donated, so that they can gain entrance to the Whitehouse.

I don’t believe that AARP underwrites any insurance products. It just takes kickbacks from the insurers who do.

I noticed in another thread that Obama has directed millions—via the “stimulus”—toward Al Gore and his venture capital partners. When Obama is impeached or indicted it will take an army of investigators to total up how much has been looted from taxpayers.

I have United Health Care for my senior coverage. I need to find out if AARP gets any of my money, or benefits from me having this coverage. If so I will certainly be changing carriers. This couldn't have come up a better time than right now, what with the open enrollment period set to begin in a week or so!

I would urge EVERY senior to find out if their premiums benefit the AARP in any, way, shape or form. If so, get out! And be sure to call and write the carrier to let them know why you're dropping them.

When all is said and done the only thing the vast majority of people, and companies, and governments pay attention to is the bottom line. Cut income, take away the contract, fire them, whatever. Nothing less has the power to change their behavior. Sanctions and words are worthless.
