We've been trying to figure out what, if any, preparations Wall Street has been taking to guard against H1N1. For the most part, the banks have been coy about their activities.
But as noted on The Today Show this morning, several banks have been among the early recipients of H1N1 vaccine, allowing them to get ahead of hospitals in some instances.
The story was originally broken by BusinessWeek this week.
Goldman Sachs (GS) has received 200 doses in total -- the exact same as Lennox Hill hospital.
Health officials say corporate partners are always part of the distribution of any vaccine.
There's no allegation that they broke any rules, and we're still not quite sure what the whole story is -- mainly it looks like another PR snafu for Wall Street. Some are suggesting that, perhaps, the banks should have donated their allocated vaccines.
In defense of the banks, we all benefit when others are vaccinated. It's a positive, not zero-sum game.
Update: To be clear, Goldman confirms that all these decisions are made by the CDC, and that the vaccine only goes to specified high-risk individuals. In addition, as noted by the above BusinessWeek report, 29 companies including Time Warner another others have also been slected as vaccine distribution.

I don’t think this is part of any plot to favor “government owned” banks. My company, a major corporation outside of the banking sector, received hundreds of doses, nationwide, as well.

It says in the article the CDC determines it I just thought it was interesting and I don’t like goldman sachs because of the fact that we the taxpayers got stuck with 100% on the dollar in the backdoor aig bailouts and of course because of all the money they have donated to obama through the years.
Our COUNTY, population 500,000, has received 15,000 doses only. The first 5,000 are just being given TODAY, only to “high risk” groups. This shows the priorities of the administration.
The vaccine debacle is an example of how Obamao wants to run healthcare.

Isn’t it interesting that Obama has made sure that the bankers that are helping Barney Franks et al to destroy our economy and the Gitmo terrorists that are out to destroy our entire country, are getting protection from this flu before anyone else. Things that make you go hmmmmmm.....

Didn’t I see the cast of the Today Show getting the H1N1 vaccine a month or so ago? Or was that a regular flu shot? If so- why did they get priority?
If there is something to be concerned about -- it's that they stopped production of the regular seasonal flu vaccine, so that is unavailable.
That stopped to produce the H1N1 vaccine, which is generally unavailable, because of the gov't insistence on single-dose packaging. This has the potential to become Obama's Katrina -- or something a lot worse.

He got hammered, from multiple reporters, on the vaccine going to GS.
Gibbs' spin was to pawn it off on the CDC, and then the groups receiving it, suggesting they should be socially conscious enough (not his words, but mine) to make sure the most vulnerable get it first.
Bottom line: he made absolutely no sense.
OT, but he was also asked about Valerie Jarrett's "truth to power" statement with regard to Fox News. (Is Fox the power?) Gibbs said he didn't hear it, or something. ROFLMAO!

If ever there was a villian both sides of the aisle could agree on, it’s Goldman Sachs.
That GS got the vaccine before the people did is EXACTLY what is going to happen when the government takes over healthcare. Some will be put to the front of the line, and 99/100 they’ll have more influence than you do, even if your kid is dying.
If we don’t use this, we are truly stupid.
