Rebooting the Democrats
The Wall Street Journal ^ | November 5, 2009 | Editorial Staff

Tuesday's GOP gubernatorial sweep revealed an electorate deeply anxious about jobs, the state of the economy and the wider Obama agenda. We realize we sound like St. Jude, the patron saint of lost causes, but if the Democratic establishment wants to avoid a repeat in 2010 they'll dump their current ambitions and start over.

--snip--

Democrats entered this year well positioned to get political credit for a recovering economy, whether or not their policies had much to do with it. Yet a year later their willy-nilly expansion of government is creating fear and uncertainty that are inhibiting the animal spirits crucial to job creation—and, as Tuesday showed, endangering their political ascendancy.

The Democrats won the center in 2006 and 2008. By moving to the Left, they are leading the center to desert them. Its time to start over. If they don't want to, all the talk of a liberal realignment could soon be histoire.

Dems and Obama are on a suicide run...they’ll attempt to ram through as much of their socialist agenda as possible. They’ll blame Rush, the VRWC, Tea party believers, racial bigots, Sarah Palin, and George Bush for everything that goes wrong. The Left’s screaming and yelling, aided and abetted by the MSM will be nonstop. The Big Lie worked wonders for Hitler, and Obama and pals are fascists at heart.

I am surprised, nay--amazed, the editorial staff of the Journal really thinks the Democrat party gives a damn about making sure the economy recovers.

Any sort of objective historical study will show the leadership of that party has a vested interest in making the people depend more on the government. And economic distress is a primary factor in creating dependence.

Wake up, fellas. Don't be afraid to speak the truth: Democrats are anti-prosperity.

Doesn’t Hillary have a cool reset button? They can just use that! Oh wait, I think she gave it to the Russians or someone.

From the article:
“Democrats entered this year well positioned to get political credit for a recovering economy, whether or not their policies had much to do with it. Yet a year later their willy-nilly expansion of government is creating fear and uncertainty that are inhibiting the animal spirits crucial to job creation—and, as Tuesday showed, endangering their political ascendancy.”

This pretty well sums it up. The Dems could probably hold on to power for years if they focused on a few of Obama’s campaign promises like open government, tax credits for companies creating jobs, no new taxes for the middle class, an end to earmarks, limits on lobbyists, etc. They would have been given credit for a recovering economy they didn’t deserve. Instead they have abandoned these promises and embarked on a radical socialist agenda that is ruining our economy.

Not being Bush was only a winning strategy until it became apparent to almost everyone that they are far worse.
