WASHINGTON A trio of senators with differing political views is working behind-the-scenes to rescue troubled climate legislation.
Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., together with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., said Wednesday they would work in conjunction with the White House to patch together a bill that could pass the U.S. Senate.
The three senators met individually with Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Carol Browner, the president's assistant for energy and climate change.
"Our effort is to try to reach out to broaden the base of support ... ," Kerry said at an afternoon news conference. "The key here is to really negotiate once, in a sense."

Your handy dandy RINO to the rescue. See the problem yet?
Hey can we see the proof the hoax is real first?
Vote these mental midgets out!
The other two blood suckers are just lice on the body politic.
Oh great—the average citizen is fairly broke, and they think its ok to add more cost to energy bills. I swear they are loons. I guess we need to organize on this.
Graham! YOu sir are a moron!!!!
Seriously, isn’t he up for election? Let’s run a conservative as a 3rd party against him.. I know a Dem might win, but we have a dim in there anyway.....
Nope. He was just reelected last year.
I hate to cuss but, damn, just damn.
I tried my hardest to not let this happen.......I really thought my fellow SCarolinians were done with him......but NOOOOOOOO
Joe Wilson really needs to take Grahamnesty’s seatm,...er,...eh,...I mean, he ought to beat him in the next election.
Perhaps we'll wake up one morning and hear the news that he has accepted a position in the Obama administration.
Other than that we'll have to deal with him for five more years.
"If environmental policy is not good business policy, you will not get 60 votes," Graham warned. "The green economy is coming. We can either follow or lead."
I've heard reports, that Republicans in Virginia beat Democrats in the south and west of Virginia on the Cap & Trade issue alone. There is no 'green economy'. For every 'green job' created, two 'real jobs' are lost. Grahamnesty, you think you're smart. You aren't. You're a fool, who gets punk'd by someone as truly braindead as John Kerry.
South Carolina voters are not going to forget your work on Cap & Trade, no matter if it's passes or doesn't pass. It's a sign of your lack of common sense, which is a sign of former Senators.
Joe Wilson really needs to take Grahamnestys seatm,...er,...eh,...I mean, he ought to beat him in the next election.
We will have to see in 2014!!!! That seems like a lifetime from now.
