AP Sources: Dem Health bill to get AARP backing (Obama ready to throw Grandma under the bus)

In a coup for House Democrats, AARP will endorse sweeping health care overhaul legislation headed for a history-making floor vote, officials told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

An endorsement from the seniors' lobby was critical when then-President George W. Bush pushed the Medicare prescription drug benefit through a closely divided Congress in 2003. House Democratic leaders are hoping it will work the same political magic for them as they strive to deliver on President Barack Obama's signature issue.

An announcement from the 40-million member group is expected Thursday, said officials with knowledge of the group's decision. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the endorsement is not official yet.

Backing the 10-year, $1.2 trillion House bill is a tricky move for AARP. Many retirees are concerned about cuts in Medicare payments to medical providers, which will be used to finance an expansion of health insurance coverage to millions of working families who now lack it. Also, AARP says its membership is about evenly divided among Democrats, Republicans and independents, meaning its endorsement in today's highly politicized atmosphere could anger many members.

Democrats death-care bill, withdraw health care from granny, granny dies, save money, give money saved to unions and other democrat constituency, Democrats get elected forever.

Who needs granny anyway ...

This is about as digusting as it gets to go after old people this way.

It is important for senior citizens to make it clear that AARP does not speak for them, and that they joined only to get the discounts and benefits.

The AARP is ready to back death panels and the denial of healthcare based on age?

I guess I was right about leftism being above everything.

Eco-nut groups, “feminazi” groups, homo-rights all are simply fronts for leftism. Their facades are different but the goal remains the same.

When you are old, as is my 90 year old aunt, and you withdraw needed care, the old people die prematurely. It happens to thousands a year in England right now.

So yes, it really is kill granny.

I throw out anything from AARP also. The sad thing is there are a number of good alternative companies; christian ones, who offer even better supplemental insurance plans for seniors, but they don’t have the advertising dollars. Just google senior supplemental health care and they are easy to find.

Much like the Democrats who are killing their potential future voters by aborting them; AARP will be in self-destruct mode here very soon.

I saw somewhere, maybe a month ago, a report that asserted there were provisions in the health care bill (as of that time) that would have provided a substantial payback to AARP programs. The scheme, as I recall, involved some kind of AARP insurance that was effectively excepted from a general prohibition in the bill. Anybody know about this?

Make that anger most members. I wish I were a member so I could quit.

Don't be confused.

AARP is actually a camouflaged lobby of the Democrat party claiming to represent old people.

Senior citizens have had nothing to so with AARP's decisions. They claim 40 million members, but none have been polled on this matter to my knowledge.

I am a senior citizen and am thoroughly opposed to Obamacare.

I read it is MediGap which is more expensive than the Medicare Advantage Plan which also covers expenses not handled by Medicare. So, ZERO has been reported as saying he will not support any Medicare funding given for Medicare Advantage, so AARP gets to peddle MediGap!!! You scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours.

I've got two of those all postage paid by AARP post cards I've been saving. I think I'll attach them to a couple of bricks and mail them back to the b@stards. If every one did this we could bankrupt them.

Save the all postage paid cards. Tape them to a nice package full of sand and mail them back.

AARP has been pro killing grandma for a long time. I remember reading an article by them a long time ago discussing to older people whether they should think about if they should let their lives go on after they have become a burden. It was awful to read that from an organization that was suppose to be for the elderly. I realized then that the organization was a cover for left wing death mongers.
