Businesses nationwide shut down for one hour the day after the full Senate or the full House of Representatives passes a bill that moves America closer to socialized medicine but before a vote of both chambers on a final bill. This strike is part "trip-wire" and part "shock therapy" to let Washington politicians know we don't want the government to force us into a government-run health care monopoly.
During that hour the businesses can call members of Congress and/or protest socialized medicine by holding signs near busy streets.
Organizers are seeking business owners to join the strike and offer a one sentence quote as to why they are joining the strike for a future press release. Sign up at:

bullcrap, one hour. everyone needs to go galt. permanently. let hussein and nazi pelosi and hairy reed print the money for health care and hand it out to their cultists...who will go looking for doctors who will take it.
but the doctors who are worth a damn will not be around. they’ll get doctor nicks.
Is it time to revive the “Liberty Dollar”?

That is the only real way of “going Galt” that I can think of.
Seems a rather silly idea to me. How does this impact the gubment other than an overloaded switchboard? That happens all the time as it is.
The idea is to have production in America stop, even for an hour, just to show them the level of anger against their plan to take-over more of the economy and force us into a system where bureaucrats make our health care decisions. It’s more about the shut down than the calling of Congress. It creates a good visual for the media to show a business owner closing his door or turning off a machine to protest the expansion of socialism (dictatorship). My originally idea was to shut down for a week or a day but too many business owners said that was not possible for them to do.
To those who are cynical about the value of this protest: This is not just a symbolic gesture. It’s not just holding signs (but I’ve done plenty of that). If businesses actually close their doors and turn off their machines it is a real action that should send shock waves that will be picked up by the media and politicians about how fiercely we intend to fight their plans to make us all serfs of the government. The more tangible an action the more likely the media will cover it.
This is the first time I have heard of the lost liberty hotel and your attempt to limit imminent domain. Very impressive.
Imagine.
One hour of no traffic moving. No grocery stores open. No banks open. No cable t.v. (oh the horror!)
Recovering Democrat...I’m assuming you are mocking this idea. Do you have a better idea of how to stop this action in Congress?
I like this idea. A lot.
Thanks. Please help me promote it to blogs and talk radio. Also, if you’d like to join the strike visit http://www.strikeagainstsocialism.com
