WASHINGTON -- Democrats had a grim election Tuesday, but they're giving thanks to a growing conservative revolution in the Republican Party that cost the GOP in Northern New York last night and threatens to do so nationwide.
"It's happening in every state in the union," said one otherwise anxious Democratic operative who spoke candidly on background. Republicans "are facing primaries from the right all over, and that's the only thing saving our asses."
The problem for Democrats is they face several tough races, including primaries of their own, and the independents who bought their messages of change and hope in the last two elections are now more swayed by fear in a bad economy.
Indeed, exit polls in the marquee governor contests that GOP candidates won at the head of united efforts in New Jersey and Virginia found Democrats losing independents by about 2 to 1, even though President Obama remains popular in both places.

Where are these loons seeing this split in the GOP? This was one election in one district. In countless other races conservatives go along with a moderate candidate. This Dede was an exception. All over the country Republicans are getting set to run moderates for the Senate next year and I have not heard of any revolt. Mark Kirk, Carly Fiorina, Rob Simmons, Michael Castle etc are not exactly considered hard liners!

Does anyone fall for this besides the RNC leadership? If they REALLY were happy with a "growing conservative revolution" and REALLY thought it helped them they would shut up about it and let it happen. Instead they have to denounce it and give free advice to Republicans. Right.
