Many thanks to Jim Robinson and Hildy who encouraged me to post here. I don't do much blogging or posting other than Facebook so you can go over there to learn more about me and my platform. I am running for the U.S. Senate in Arizona. I will be a primary challenger to John McCain. I am a Constitutional conservative. I need your support in our effort to right the wrongs of how our federal government operates and repeal bad laws, regulations and protect states. Thanks for taking the time to read all this and yes I look forward to your feedback. I'm just a common man, a citizen who decided to stand up and be counted when I started the citizen border watch movement, the first Tea party in what is now an amazing renaissance of conservatism that is the soul of our nation. Chris Simcox

A 500 mile circuit from Phoenix to Kingman, Lake Havasu and back through the long straight roads into Wickenberg strengthened my resolve as a conservative candidate. I never stray from the marker I set on my priciples that have been learned, and earned as I approach my 49th birthday this month. This is the month that has validated my campaign. I am a Christian, Constitutional, conservative family oriented man. I understand the job I am applying for as a public servant and I will never waiver from my civic duty and constitutional oath on as I have done since I took up post on our southern border after the attacks of 9-11-01.

To Thine own self be true, and true to my mission to lead a citizen reform movement in the most socially divisive of issues, we laid down a marker at our borders, stood in defense of our sovereignty and demanded respect for our citizenship and rule of law - I have never wavered and never will. The people of Arizona are responding. I would not be wasting your time or mine if I was not absolutely committed to winning this Senate seat for the people of Arizona. As a federalist senator I'll stand strong on a no-nonsense Constitutional approach to protecting our rights as free people. I will defend our states' ability to allow people to work and live free of federal regulation. And I will protect America's freedom from Internal treaties that cede our sovereignty or are ability to defend our nation.

Thank you to the Kingmen Republican Women's Club, The London Bridge Women's Republican Club and the Lake Havasu Men's Republican Club

The following article by Lee Cary sums it up perfectly - please support my campaign tomorrow with a $25-$50 contribution to send a message to the establishment that we the people are ready to get the job done the RIGHT way. Remember the 5th of November! Chris Simcox www.simcoxforsenate.com

And for those who were caught up in being led down the rabbit hole of conspiracy and allegations of financial problems with MCDC. The following statement is true, accurate and to the point. It cannot get any clearer than this.

In 1985, Chris Simcox began a career in early childhood education at a West Los Angeles private school. For the next 10 years he taught in a multi-age K-1-2 classroom.

The terrorist attack of September 11th, 2001 profoundly affected Chris. He became acutely aware of the security issues along our northern and southern borders. Chris believed he could help make Americans aware of the grave risk our open borders pose to our national security.

He left his teaching position and moved to Tombstone, Arizona. There he began working for the Tombstone Tumbleweed, a weekly newspaper. Eventually, Chris founded the first citizen border watch activist group – the Civil Homeland Defense. Over time, it evolved into the historic Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) – a citizen activist group dedicated to securing U.S. borders and coastal boundaries. MCDC efforts brought national attention to the lawless state of our borders. Chris Simcox and Carmen Mercer incorporated the MCDC in Delaware in May 2005. The bylaws of the non-profit 501(c)(4) required three board members: a president, a vice president and an independent third-party secretary. MCDC became a partner project of the Declaration Alliance in May of 2005, and began an educational campaign that eventually alerted millions of Americans to the national security crisis along our border with Mexico.

The MCDC had two goals: 1. Train, equip and organize border-watch Search and Rescue Humanitarian operations along the entire border with Mexico, and in specific locations along the northern border with Canada.

2. Use the experiences and reports from citizen border watch activities to expose the government’s inability to gain operational control of our borders. Our activities ensured media cov¬erage. That coverage enabled us to educate millions of voters. Millions of pieces of direct mail also help bring the porous nature of the southern border to the nation’s attention.

In 2006, MCDC volunteers began helping build small sections of private fencing along the border in Cochise County. This new project was a direct challenge to the Bush administration’s failure to fund, and Senator McCain’s ¬failure to support, the federal project to erect effective barriers along our southern border.

After groundbreaking began on the MCDC fence project in May 2006, the Army Corps of Engineers and the National Guard moved into that same area and began erecting vehicle barriers just yards in front of our physical fence construction. Our plan was to build a three-layer defense system including:

1. vehicle barriers; 2. a small sensor barrier fence; 3. then a large anti-climb fence. A few weeks later, the Border Patrol and the federal government announced they would construct fencing along the exact same area where the MCDC project was building a one-mile section of the "model fence." That MCDC effort was assisted by Jim Campbell, a contractor from the Phoenix area. Campbell personally invested $100,000 in the fence project. He spent $68,000 for the initial steel fence posts, personally acquired the materials, came to the construction site, and oversaw construction of the initial foundational of the MCDC fence project.

In May 2007, five state-level MCDC directors called for the Board of Director to meet with state directors to discuss a proposal to restructure the organization. A series of state and regional workshops were already scheduled to address that issue in August. The five state level directors challenged the Board of Directors to convene a meeting within two weeks. The Board of Directors voted to ask the five state directors to drop their demands for an immediate meeting and to attend the National Conference in August. When the five refused, they were removed from their positions by the Board of Directors. Chris Simcox did not dictate the firing of the five state-level directors. In fact, as the corporation’s official minutes demonstrate, he voted against firing the five and, instead, preferred to negotiate with them to resolve their differences within the organization. Throughout this episode, there were no financial problems within the MCDC. Any claim to the contrary is unsubstantiated. The MCDC filed all its necessary 990 reports, as well as all other documents required from a non-profit educational organization. The MCDC complied with all federal regulations and requirements for 503(c)(4) status. Furthermore, it has demonstrated complete fiduciary responsibility by hiring competent and reputable accounting and auditing firms that have prepared the requisite fiduciary reports on behalf of the organization.

Consequently, with all documentation and audits in order, and after two successive inquiries by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), both the Declaration Alliance and the MCDC have been judged to have appropriately accounted for all funds. Any and all accusations to the contrary are unfounded and motivated by efforts to besmirch the reputation of both organizations. These efforts likely represent fundamental disagreements with the MCDC goals stated above.

As a candidate for the U.S. Senate, Chris Simcox will bring his tenacity to achieve, his strong work ethic, and his varied life experiences to his work on behalf of the people of Arizona. He will ensure that, through his voice, their voices are heard in Washington.

Welcome Chris!!

“Conservatism is the soul of our nation...”

Unfortunately national security, as regards illegal immigration/amnesty specifically, is NOT in the hearts of many “conservative” voters/legislators and a low priority for others. I’d like to see that changed, because I will NOT support ANY candidate, “conservative” or otherwise, who supports ANY kind of amnesty (”path”, “earned”, “touch-back”, etc.) for ANY (”criminal” or not) illegal aliens. Anything short of attrition through enforcement is, for me, unacceptable. And so it is important for me to know clearly what any candidate’s intentions are as re: illegal aliens already here in our country.

Chris, I know you mean well.... but if you want to be taken seriously, you really need to tighten up your story.

For example, that interminable recitation about the infighting between the national and state Boards of Directors could have come right out of a Monty Python sketch -- just substitute "Judean People's Front" for MCDC and you're getting sued for copyright infringement. Lose it immediately. Nobody cares.

And yes, you're clearly very concerned about border security ... and that's a good thing, to be sure. But what else are you talking about in your primary campaign? What, precisely, is going to set you apart from John McCain other than that one issue which, to be honest, isn't all that compelling to most folks? When somebody challenges you about, say, Pakistan or the financial crisis or whatever ... what are you going to say?

Keep it up, but remember that you've got a lot of homework ahead of you.

I lead by example.
My Mission in Running Against John McCain
Eight years ago I challenged the status quo on illegal immigration without thought of political party or ideology. My intent was to bring to peoples’ attention the underlying problem of our border insecurity. I felt then that our two main political parties were part of a three-ring circus with Democrats and Republicans whistled on stage by the Ring Master –main stream media personalities. Little has changed.
Today, conservative media personalities seem to be maneuvering to upstage each other. For example: neoconservative Mark Levin has criticized populist Glenn Beck.
In this mix, I consider myself an independent conservative. I don’t fit into any predefined box. My mission is, and always has been, to open the eyes of a widely apathetic citizenry.
I agree with Beck when he says that a President McCain would have been no better than President Obama. It partially explains why I’m challenging John McCain in the Republican primary next August.
McCain voted for TARP. He has nurtured Cap & Trade and accepted the scientifically dubious premise that global warming is manmade as well as a clear and present danger to the planet. McCain is engaged in the healthcare debate when he should be leading a Senate effort to stop it on the ground that it’s unconstitutional. And, McCain supports the failed organization that is the United Nations.
Meanwhile, we learn that Obama plans to cut funding for border security. The truth is that McCain never wanted to fix our porous borders in the first place. I, along with tens of thousands of citizens, held a Tea Party on the border in 2005. We led the charge to stop the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill in 2006. We forced Congress to build over 600 miles of fencing in 2007. Yet, the border problem remains a serious issue regardless of the party in charge. And it will only improve until voters demand change.
On the border issue, Beck is right. A President McCain would have been no better than Obama. In 2004, McCain told me, to my face, that what I was doing on the border would bring more trouble than the drug cartels. Meanwhile, McCain and Obama both sit idly by allowing the drug cartels to expand their criminal activities into U.S. cities and essentially control America’s southern border.
I respect the libertarian principles of Constitution, Freedom and Liberty. I’m running as a registered Republican with the goal of helping move the GOP toward becoming a party that embraces those principles. Among some in the Republican establishment the attitude toward me is “How dare you! Who the hell gave you permission to do this! You’re going to screw the whole damn thing up.”
I fully expected that response. It’s symptomatic of a political party that needs an awakening. And I believe that awakening will be delivered upon it by patriotic voters in 2010 in Arizona.
My response to the GOP establishment, and to Mark Levin, in defense of Beck is that Beck is doing what a good teacher does, and what I did when I was a teacher. He’s starting with the basics - government 101 – and building from there.
My love of the Constitution and my deep respect for the freedom-loving conservatives of Arizona call me to run against John McCain. He, progressive liberals, and the professional GOP party loyalists should take note. People are demanding that politicians return their government to its Constitutional foundation. In the next election, they will elect Congressional representatives who will protect our free market economic system, our borders, and our national security.
So I’m running as a states’ rights candidate. And I will, when elected, work to protect the state from federal government encroachments. I will work closely with Arizona’s elected representatives to protect the rights of Arizona’s citizens. I will not enter the Senate with the overriding goal of working for the GOP or the federal government. I will go to bring a message from the American people that says, “Keep it simple; stay out of our private lives; do what’s necessary to defend the nation. And don’t impede our industry or stand in the way of our enterprising spirit flourishing once again.”
Chris Simcox

Chris Simcox Opposes Cap & Trade

Chris Simcox, founder of Minuteman Civil Defense Corps and Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate seat held by John McCain, has denounced the Cap & Trade bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. Simcox said, “The Cap & Trade Bill that squeaked through the House needs to bring a roar of opposition from voters in Arizona and across the nation. This is bad legislation that will, if passed by the Senate, not only bring us much higher costs in energy, as Obama has promised, but it will also bring a heavy cost to our sovereign freedom as a nation. It will represent a treaty that’ll not only pull us deeper into the European Union, but will also yield control of America’s free market for energy to international concerns.”

Simcox quoted John McCain who wrote in a March 18, 2008 Financial Times op-ed piece that, “We need a successor to Kyoto, a cap-and-trade system that delivers the necessary environmental impact in an economically responsible manner.”

Simcox criticized McCain saying that, “McCain has accepted the premise of man-made global warming as settled science, when, in fact, every day more credible sources are stepping forward to challenge that premise.”

Simcox said that, “A year after McCain endorsed Cap & Trade, the Office of Policy, Economics and Innovation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, released a draft document, dated March 9, 2009, that stated, ‘We do not maintain that we or anyone else have all the answers needed to take action now.’ The document continues, ‘We believe our concerns and reservations are sufficiently important to warrant a serious review of the science by EPA before any attempt is made to reach conclusions on the subject...The science has and undoubtedly will continue to change and EPA must have the capability of keeping abreast of these changes if it is to successfully discharge its responsibilities.’ So,” Simcox stated, “the EPA itself has yet to accept the premise of Cap & Trade!”

Simcox added, “Senator McCain made a hasty and uninformed decision when he supported the TARP bailout bill. Concerning Cap & Trade, he’s has made a long but equally uninformed decision to support a concept that would be better called ‘Tax & Control.’ McCain was wrong about TARP then, and he’s wrong about Cap & Trade now.”

To win in the republican party primary, you need to have a really good life resume of continuous achievement.

You don’t have that, and you won’t win.

The republican party is as much about experience and knowledge as it is about platform and ideology.

Our nominees were Eisenhower, Eisenhower, Nixon, Goldwater, Nixon, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Reagan, Bush, Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain.

That’s who we are, that’s what we do.

So, staytrue, your idea of continuous achievement is McCain/Feingold and the McCain/Kennedy legislation? Shafting conservatives with an arrogant sneer and the giggling approval of Lindsey Graham?

I'll take conservative ideology over that, any day. And you might notice that your list is of presidential candidates, not primary senatorial candidates.

First of all, welcome to FR.

I wouldn't take a lot of advice from FReepers, *r9etb* and IIRC, *staytrue*.

They have been known to be pro-open border and illegal immigrant rights activists on this forum.

Not trying to start in ill feelings for any of the members but, since you have been in the forefront of the illegal immigration/border security issue, you might want to know who you're dealing with.
