Pelosi dismisses Dem losses in Virginia and New Jersey
Politico ^ | Nov. 4, 2009

Posted on 11/04/2009 11:07:03 AM PST by Rennes Templar

Most House Democrats tried to put a good face on Tuesday's election results, saying they picked up two more votes for a sweeping health care bill that could be on the floor as early as Friday.

But it can't make it any easier for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as she works to corral the last holdouts she needs to pass legislation overhauling the nation’s health care system.

Of course, the speaker, who told POLITICO recently she's "not big on showing weakness," brushed aside questions about how the Democratic gubernatorial losses in Virginia and New Jersey would impact her final tally and instead trumpeted the two special election House wins.

"From our perspective, we won last night," the California Democrat told reporters during a Wednesday photo op. "We had one race that we were engaged in, it was in northern New York, it was a race where a Republican has held the seat since the Civil War. And we won that seat. So, from our standpoint, no, a candidate was victorious who supports health care reform, and his remarks last night said this was a victory for health care reform and other initiatives for the American people."

"From our standpoint, we picked up votes last night," a cheerful Pelosi said, "one in California and one in New York."

Frankly this would be good news, if it were true. We all know it isn’t. If the Democrats actually didn’t think yesterday bode ill for them, it would make things easier in November 2010.

Nancy is wearing extra-strength depends today. She probably has knee pads on the inside too, so she doesn’t get damage from her knees knocking.

New Jersey? LMAO, sure SanFranNan... I believe you, honest. /s

The Democrats are in denial. Good for them. As they continue to lurch to the Left, they turn off voters in the middle and the Independents who've turned against them. Keep on doing what you're doing, Nancy - your arrogance will be your party's downfall.

Historically,

those of the liberal mindset, that is, of the individual liberty mindset (conservatives today),

have not killed their political opponents.

That is historically strictly the purview of the left.

What the governorships in VA and NJ going away from democraps shows clearly is a populace pissed at democrap leadership. Governors are the folks who guide a state. That leadership expectations are fleeing in panic mode from trusting democraps to guide is the reality Nazi Pelosi types cannot allow to become the national discussion. And the media who have transmogrified themselves into the enemy of we the people—instead of being the fourth estate of this nation—are glad to oblige in the misdirection their massahs at the DNC tell them to produce.

I don’t see how having two more Governors is going to effect the number of votes for Obamacare.

Surely the Governors can try and influence the Representatives from their state But Reps are not required even to vote to support the will of their constituency.

Is is a good thing going into 2010 though.

Governors are important in redistricting. The mid-term elections are going to be critical both in getting more GOP statehouse majorities and in blocking Democrat plans that severely disadvantage Republicans. Last night was just the opening shot in a long road back.

Yes, Thank You for explaining the role of Governors more fully.

I do understand that Governors will help us as part of a long term strategy.

My last post was in response to what I felt was some excessive enthusiasm in the Blogosphere to what I perceived as an event having No immediate benefit.

It may be an Indicator of Trends, Lets hope.

Having 2 "R" Governors won't directly affect the number of votes for Obamacare ... unless the geezer Lautenberg passes away and Christie gets to name his replacement.

However, indirectly, it casts a shot across the bow to any Democrat who may be wavering on his/her vote.

More than anything else, a politician wants to stay in office, and if any of them think that voting "aye" will be career suicide, they'll abandon Obama post haste.

HMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm…..

Rahm Emanuel 2005 : Our gubernatorial wins in NJ and Virginia are huge

Rahm Emanuel — then chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and now White House chief of staff — had called us to argue the very point Republicans are now making: that the two gubernatorial contests say something about the upcoming midterms. Here’s what we wrote then: Democratic House campaign committee chair Rahm Emanuel, calling First Read immediately after Kaine’s and Corzine’s victories were announced, argued that it’s clear Democratic voters were already energized earlier in the year when Democrat Paul Hackett nearly won a traditionally GOP-leaning Ohio House district. “I think that’s even more true today.”

Nanzi: "We had one race that we were engaged in, it was in northern New York...."

Watta figgin' liar. The frantic spinning is so transparent ...”the elections weren’t about us...except the one we won, that one's all about us, that one proves that the whole country loves us, and wants socialized medicine.”

(Snicker) Now we know why Harry Reid came out Monday to lessen expectations that the healthcare mess would be voted on........the WH knew they were headed into a Republican storm. The tsunami is ahead..........in 2010. Ohaha can say goodbye to trillion dollar healthcare "reform".......nothing more than a slush fund to redistribute the wealth to enrich his hand-picked Marxists.

Fact is, the WH is sucking up valium and vodka in order to anesthetize themselves from the pain in the aftermath of the 2009 Republican rout.....trying to convince themselves the election was not a referendum on Obama.

THE FACTS ARE THESE: Ohaha was totally invested in the 2009 Va and NJ races. Losing New Jersey was the tipping point---this was an election the WH could not afford to lose. The Corzine loss was a debacle for Ohaha.

Pulling out all the stops for Corzine made Ohaha a VERY good target for Americans disgusted with Ohaha’s policies. At the same time Dem Corzine’s corrupt governorship was also a huge negative.

HERE'S HOW DESPERATE THE OVOMITONS WERE TO WIN NJ Obama went to New Jersey three times---Biden was there twice.

The NY Times reported :

(a) every TV ad Corzine put on the air was being screened by Obama's WH team.

(b) Corzine's aides gave the WH daily briefings.

(c) Obama’s pollsters took over for Corzine’s polling team, and,

(d) White House operatives were on the ground for everything from internal strategy sessions to secret, obscure pep rallies with Latinoes, (still toweling off after swimming the Rio Grande).

Corzine had a "Peruvian PAC" endorsing him. Latino invaders from Ecuador, Mexico, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Puerto Rico and Spain are currently "registered" to vote in NJ (or being trucked in election day) under several names.......all voting for Corzine under several identities. Ohaha’s Chicago buddies are experts in mfg the votes needed to win. Stashing piles of votes that “suddenly appear” in used pizza boxes.......... and scribbling “Vota Corzine” on Taco Bell wrappers.

Ohaha hid $17.5 BILLION stimulus in NJ---it disappeared and could not be found ----b/c the stimulus was intended for Corzine's reelection kitty.

NOTE The WH still has not spent 85% of the stim----buzz is Ohaha is saving it for Dem candidates 2010 elections.

AFTERMATH The White House is sucking up valium and vodka to anesthetize themselves. Rahm Enanuel's plieing like crazy. Mmm, mm, mmm....... I just can't wait to see the post-election Ohaha ........... smiling through his electoral castration. ROTFL.

According to White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, the President was busy with other matters last night and wasn't really concerned with election results.

Gibbs fatuous statement---that Ohaha was busy with other matters last night and wasn't really concerned with election results------underlines that the Ovomitons are on mood-altering drugs. No matter what catastrophe befalls them, Ohaha and the mob are grinning, glad-handing, quipping, smirking.....acting like nothing happened. Quaaludes sucked down w/ vodka is doing it for 'em.

======================================================

" Pay no attention to all those people behind the curtain voting for nasty Republicans."

Devious Rahm would do anything to dupe voters: (1) in 2005 he had aethists running as fervent believers---(2) in 2008 he had Marxist Ohaha saying, "I want to be another Reagan."
