Ky. 2010: Rand Paul's surge in Kentucky [libertarians revolting against NRSC, Cornyn, McConnell]

Kentucky could be the next state to host a race where the GOP's grassroots rebels against the party establishment.

Rand Paul, the son of former presidential candidate Ron Paul, has pulled into the lead in the Kentucky Senate race in a new SurveyUSA poll, ahead of the establishment favorite, Secretary of State Trey Grayson.

Paul now leads Grayson by three points, 35 to 32 percent, the first time he’s led any poll in the Kentucky race so far. It’s not the first sign that Paul stands a credible chance at an upset: Paul raised over $1 million in the last fundraising quarter, significantly more than Grayson’s haul.

Grayson has been supported by Republican Senate leadership in Washington -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and NRSC chairman John Cornyn headlined a fundraiser for his campaign in September.

Rand = Isolationist on foreign policy. Has more in common with Dennis Kucinich than Conservatism.

I’m sticking with Bill Johnson.

I don’t know too much about Rand but if he is anything like his father, you nailed it.

It’s Johnson or Paul for me. I am through voting for RINO’s and the Clinton loving Grayson is just that.

As long as they are low spending, low tax conservatives, and support the US Constitution, I’m going going to give them my support.
Hoffman didn’t have a chance in NY because all of the confusion. And it isn’t a cop-out to say that he was inarticulate and uncharismatic. Hopefully the KY candidates are conservative and “appealing”. Unfortunately, we still have to “sell” candidates to the uninformed and misinformed moderates.

Rand = Isolationist

Yes, far better to continue to bleed ourselves dry with military commitments world wide. We'll police the world, using money borrowed from China, so they can take the earnings, come in to the USA, and buy all of our productive assets!

You neo-Cons have it all figured out! We certianly need to be defending South Korea still. And Germany! We have 115,000 men defending Europe. Good for someone's economy, to be sure, but not ours.

FreeRepublic is a conservative forum - not a libertarian forum. Perhaps your in the wrong place. I’m sure infowars will embrace you with open arms. I guess Reagan was one of those evil “neo-cons” too, right?

Paul wins the nomination, we lose that seat to Jack Conway. It’s just that simple. I’m in Nashville and we get KY political ads aimed for the Central & SW part of the state, and the Dems will inundate the airwaves to eviscerate Paul for the links to his extremist father.

I will, thanks. I'll stick with conservatism even if it means losing an election.
