A Massachusetts man has been fired from his sales A Massachusetts man has been fired from his sales position at the Logan Airport branch in Boston of Brookstone allegedly for telling a female manager that his Christian faith says homosexuality is wrong.
Peter Vadala was fired, and the company says he violated a tolerance policy. But Vadala reports his dismissal came because he expressed his Christian view of homosexuality after a female manager made repeated references, as she approached him four times during work hours, to her plans to marry her lesbian partner.
"At the start of the day, she told me she was getting married. I told her 'Congratulations,' and asked, 'Where's he taking you on your honeymoon?'" Vadala said.
"She replied that her partner was a 'she,'" he continued, "So I immediately tried to change the subject.
"I think she knew I was uncomfortable talking about it," he continued. "But, she brought it up to me three more times during the day.
(Story continues below)
"After the fourth time she told me about her plan to marry her partner, I told her, 'I think homosexuality is bad stuff,'" Vadala said.
"That's what I said. I wasn't rude about it and I didn't act disrespectfully to her," he said. "All the woman said to me as she left the store was, 'Human Resources buddy. You keep your opinions to yourself!'"

Thought crimes are very big these days.
Calling the ACLU. Come in, ACLU.
Obvious entrapment.
Four times bringing up the subject?
He should sue the company for allowing a hostile work environment.
It doesn;t pay to believe in anything these days if this stands.
Honesty and the right to express your personal beliefs.(now under new management)
I guess keeping your opinions to youself doesn’t work both
ways? Sounds like she set him up!
Sounds like entrapment by management. She should be fired as well. I’d like to see him sue on this one but in Mass. the juries are pretty wacked.
Apparently in the United States of America a person is not entitled to an opinion, or a Christian belief. So much for “tolerance.”
any picketers available to let that office feeel the freedom...
This guy needs to become the poster child for the anti-gay-indoctrination movement. In any state where there is a homosexual “marriage” referendum, this guy should be flown in like Joe the Plumber to show how the queer Nazis operate.
As always...tolerance as long as you believe what THEY believe.
I think the female manager needs to be promptly fired. She created a hostile work environment. As management she should know better, and placed her employer’s business at risk. She should have managed her team and left her personal matters at home.
I manage people for a living. I would love to promote my religious and political views - but that’s not what my employer expects me to do. They expect me to lead my teams to exceed objectives.
Oh no, we are entitled to an opinion, just not a Christian one.
Do we need any more proof that the Left are the grown (but not mature) targets of derision on the school playground and they STILL want to run and tell teechur?
Perhaps Brookstone is entitled to hear our opinions on this subject.
Seems to me she was the one harrassing him. She should have kept her private life private and no one would have known what she was about to do. It's amazing to me how liberals can be intolerant of somone else's views.
Tolerance policy? Sounds pretty intolerant to traditional Christian believers myself.
I agree. She didn't get a positive answer from him so she continued to bring it up.
so much for being open minded towards another persons beliefs
so this means i’m free to bash/fire/admonish/berate anyone whose beliefs i do not share?
cool. just wanted to confirm the ‘rules’
What? Did he ask if she was the Husband or Wife in the relationship? LOL!
He should have said: I am uncomfortable talking about your lifestyle choice. If you continue to HARASS me I will report you. Your personal life means nothing to me. I don’t want to hear about it. Go away you stupid dyke.
Maybe leave out the last sentence.

Perfect response.
I once tutored a girl (13 yrs. old) who lived with her mother and her mother’s “partner”. When the mother dropped her off and we spoke, she frequently referred to her “partner”. I felt like I was being baited - especially since I had some apparent Christian plaques in full view. I always just smiled and looked her straight in the eye. She knew full well what I thought of her choice of lifestyle but we both knew I wasn’t going to say a word about it. I felt so sorry for her daughter.
Okay...if I lived in this area...I would dress up in a hijab, get a job in this place.....then tell this woman “in my religion, not only is homosexuality a sin, if you don’t repent, you will get stoned to death”.
See what they do to the muslim woman?

Welcome to the new world order. Remember how homosexuals whined about how they had to stay closeted or risk getting fired from their jobs? They said they just wanted tolerance so they did not have to be scared anymore.
But they did not stop with that. Now if someone voices a moral objection to anal sex or girl on girl action, they risk being fired. Funny how wanting to not live in fear turns into intimidation and violence against others so easily. Human being are sucky creatures. Unredeemed human nature is never content to be left alone, it always wants to hurt other people. Gays are no different that other human beings in that respect.
That would have shut her up.
Nailed it!!
“He should have responded: I regard your discussion of your private sexual preferences to be offensive to me, creating a hostile work environment, and I must ask you to cease to discuss it forthwith. I will also so notify Human Resources that you are sexually harassing me.
“That would have shut her up.”
I doubt it-she’s a dyke! She would have rushed him while singing “Ride of the Valkyries” and punched him squarely in the nose!;))
All are equal. Some are more equal than others.
“Calling the ACLU. Come in, ACLU.”
They’d be around.
If he was an Islamic that said homosexuals should all be executed.
E.g., by having the wall of a building pushed on them (I think that’s
one of the Taliban party-tricks employed in Afghanistan before 9-11).
But he cited his Christian faith saying he believed homosexuality
was simply “wrong”. So much for the ACLU for riding to his rescue.
The ACLU probably grieves that they can’t be part of the tolerant
band that would cheer if this fellow was burned at the stake for
his statement of faith.
I would have been fired too.
Sounds like religious discrimination to me.
He should sue.
I wish someone would really do that, what a firestorm that would be.
Great! Is the wedding going to be in Maine?
After he wins that case, he needs to sue them both for wrongful termination. While he is technically an at-will employee, an employer cannot fire an employee for exercising a protected right he or she has in the work place. Brookstone's HR department is apparently run by idiots for sending him a letter that admits he was terminated after one of its supervisors sexually harassed him.
The proper course of action would have been for HR to have taken the supervisor's statements up the chain, to have her counselled as to the requirement not to sexually harass any employee. The senior manager should have fired her and given her ten minutes under the watchful eye of security to clean out her desk.
But I don't suppose Brookstone senior managers have the cajones to do the right thing under the law. I hope they are forced to pay Mr. Vidala a ton of $50 bills.
He said it wrong? What did do, pronounce it: “homothexuality”?
In 95% of America, this man would have a strong case for a wrongful termination lawsuit. But Mass has turned into a socialist hellhole where anyone with a conservative viewpoint on certain issues has limited civil rights. Nonetheless, if I was this man I’d sue for wrongful termination for a large amount of money and force the company into a costly settlement, which they certainly deserve.
This did not happen in America, it happened in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts, which as we know is full of Massholes, who are famous for their tolerance of diverse opinions.
It’s the New Thought Crime...
How soon until Christians will be forced by the government to wear a yellow “C” at all times???
homosexuals are sexually retarded.
Does not their “tolerance policy” require tolerance of Christians?
Okay...if I lived in this area...I would dress up in a hijab, get a job in this place.....then tell this woman in my religion, not only is homosexuality a sin, if you dont repent, you will get stoned to death.
See what they do to the muslim woman?
That would be PRICELESS....
On a positive note, he was presumably just a salesclerk @ an airport store that sells overpriced tchotchkes. He has nothing to lose by giving the lawsuit a shot.
