Yes, that was a bummer.
But kudos to Christie and McDonnell!

Thank me!
Hi, cookie.
I didn’t believe the polls that had Hoffman in the lead.
I’m welcome!
Gallup: GOP would win the House of Representatives
The American Thinker ^ | November 03, 2009 | William Tate

Psst. Don’t tell anybody, but Republicans would win control of Congress if the election were now, instead of next year.
It’s sure to remain the biggest political secret not in the news. Naturally, the media will ignore it; the polling company that produced the survey, Gallup, even buried it under a misleading headline.
Maybe, to get some coverage, the Republicans could claim to have hidden somebody in a weather balloon, or something.
The congressional election prediction is part of a one-two punch Gallup delivered Barack Obama’s Chicago mob on Tuesday, albeit reluctantly.

In NY-23, Conservatives Win (Erick Erickson of Red State)
RedState.com ^ | Wednesday, November 4th at 12:04AM EST | Erick Erickson
http://www.redstate.com/erick/2009/11/04/in-ny-23-conservatives-win/
The race has now been called for Democrat Bill Owens.
This is a huge win for conservatives.
Whaaaa. . . ? you say.
There are two big victories at work in New Yorks 23rd Congressional District.
First, the GOP now must recognize it will either lose without conservatives or will win with conservatives. In 2008, many conservatives sat home instead of voting for John McCain. Now, in NY-23, conservatives rallied and destroyed the Republican candidate the establishment chose.
I have said all along that the goal of activists must be to defeat Scozzafava. Doug Hoffman winning would just be gravy. A Hoffman win is not in the cards, but we did exactly what we set out to do crush the establishment backed GOP candidate.
And make no mistake, despite the Beltway spin, we know for certain based on statements from the local Republican parties, that they chose Scozzafava based on advice from the Washington crowd.
So we have demonstrated to the GOP that it must not take conservatives for granted. The GOP spent $900,000.00 on a Republican who dropped out and endorsed the Democrat. Were we to combine Scozzafava and Hoffmans votes, Hoffman would have won.
Secondly, and just as importantly, there has all of a sudden been a huge movement among some activists to go the third party route. We see in NY-23 that this is not possible as third parties are not viable.
Third parties lack funding and ability for a host of reasons. Conservatives are going to have to work from within the GOP. The GOP had better pay attention.
For all intents and purposes, NY-23 is a trial run for Florida. And in Florida, the conservative candidate is operating inside the GOP. If John Cornyn and the NRSC do not want to see Florida go the way of NY-23, they better stand down.
Hey! Come on, now. Turn that frown upside down. We won two governorships. And Hoffman or someone better than Scuzzy will be back in 2010. The cause goes on.
Who would have thought we could win in NJ while losing NY 23? Looking back, it makes some sense. They knew they were in trouble up there and knew how much cheating to do. They probably figure NJ was in the bag.
Mornin’, darlin’.
He was not dynamic, but at the same time, I really wanted him to win so that people would stop saying that Sarah was unelectable. Now, they’ll continue to say with, only using this race as proof. Plus, I was excited that the Republican Party would have to listen to a conservative or at least consider how influential we were.
The absentee ballots killed Hoffman, no?
Remember also that one of the governors removed was head of the DNC. That’s gotta sting a bit.
That whole race was screwed cause they had no primary.
I know and was excited for Christie and McDonnell, but Hoffman took the wind out of my sails. I hope the GOP still takes note.
I just think the Hoffman loss makes the moderates and Rinos sit back and say “See, conservatives can’t win”. I hope I’m wrong.
Don’t mind me though, I’m an all or nothing kinda gal. Everyone who is far more politically sophisticated than I thinks it was a win for conservatives.
Yes. So, we shouldn’t put it all on the Hoffman race and ignore our wins. I’m sure Rush is going to agree. Corzine got whooped. Obama plugging for him did absolutely no good at all. Ain’t that great?
Hoffman will get another chance next year, if he chooses to run. Someone posted that he wasn’t very articulate. If that was true, then it’s too bad. How hard could it be to articulate the horrors being proposed in Obamacare, with its huge raises in taxes and drastic cuts in Medicare? How hard could it have been to articulate the loss in jobs, the depressed values in houses, the 401k’s that have tanked, and the constant worry about where energy prices are going? There were a lot of professionals who endorsed him, but evidently they didn’t understand at the time that he needed some help in articulating his points.
Heheh, makes me feel better.
Don Imus was really ragging on Rush Limbaugh this morning. He criticized Rush for unbuttoning his shirt way to much during the Fox News Sunday interview . . he said Rush was trying to show off all of his chest hair. Also , Imus said it was wrong for Limbaugh not to wear socks on National Television.
Imus also insinuated that Monica Crowley and Rush had some sort of affair a few years ago, which Monica denied.
Two out of three. This movement is young. Wait until next year. You should be encouraged. It’s only the beginning.
Yea, at least it’s only for a year.
Governor Kaine (D) of Virginia was not “removed.” Virginia law bans governors from seeking a second consecutive term. The RATS failed to hold the seat. That is not surprising; what was surprising was the margin of the blowout.
Did you hear the pothead racist on Chris Plante?
What a jerk.
Yes. We had a great win last night. We did not get everything we wanted, but that is simply incentive to work harder. What I think we learned is that much as I had thought about the alternative, we ARE going to have to work through the GOP. Third party candidates have too much of a disadvantage still. I wonder how many failed to turn out for Hoffman expecting that he couldn’t win. Perceptions shape reality.
Dede screwed the pooch by going in with the Dem.
Shocking Aaron was in the dance off.
It is none of Imus' business who other people date. But if Rush and Monica hooked up, they both had good taste.
I think, too, he was hurt by those absentee ballots, which were mailed in prior to Scuzzface dropping out. He drew huge crowds though, and Fred seemed to think a lot of him. I think part of the problem may be is that he isn’t an insider or “polished”; but I’m sick of polished. Shoes should be polished; politicians should be real.
Jealousy is so ugly, Don.
I mistyped - Kaine’s selected replacement could not win - that is accurate :)
Slap in the face of the DNC either way. 18 plus points.
I thought he might.
Has no fans.
Dede looks like a pooch. Probably barks and howls like one too.
Is Don Imus a fashion critic now?
I did not care for Derek’s band.
I’m hearing that area of NY is very moderate repub.
I didn’t listen; we had a plumbing problem at the office and I’ve spent the majority of the morning freezing outside my office, further adding to my sunny disposition this morning. lol
What did he have to say?
I can. It’s NYS. The entire state is infiltrated by leftists now.
Pardon my ignorance on Scuzzy, but is she gay?
To me, moderate Republicans are the equivalent of a she male.
Scuzzy and Newt and the RNCC can take credit for Owens’ win. I don’t see this as a fail for Sarah. Sarah did the right thing. That isn’t measured by a win. Doing the right thing is doing the right thing.
And anyone who didn’t vote because they thought it was a lose...those people are the worst of the worst.
I honestly don’t know, maybe some of the NY freepers might know.
