Sacramento, Calif. (AP) -- Former Hewlett-Packard Chief Executive Carly Fiorina says she'll run for the U.S. Senate seat held by California incumbent Barbara Boxer.
Fiorina ended months of speculation Wednesday with an announcement in an opinion piece she wrote for the Orange County Register. She's scheduled to make a formal announcement later in the day.

All horn, no tusk?
Battle of the Divas.
Another McCain campaign key advisor has decided to save the Republican party.
*sigh* What a choice, Boxer, or a woman capable of tanking one of the world’s leading companies.
Wow.
Here we go again. No doubt the ‘a little conservative is better than none at all’ crowd will come out and support this RINO. After all, all that matters is winning, right?
Fiorina...she’ll do for California what she did for Compaq.
Isn’t Chuck DeVore also announced candidate for the Republican nomination?
Of course considering that it's far left "CALL ME SENATOR!" Babs Boxer's seat I suppose even a RINO looks pretty good...
I guess this means no corporation wants to hire her to run the business into the ground.
McCain in drag.
Go Chuck Devore!
Yes, but at least Califronia is already run into the ground.
(/sigh)
They aren’t even going to get that. Fiorina or Devore, the result will be the same. Boxer has that seat for life. It’s the CA way.
Yes.
If she wins the primary, this will become another loss for the republicans. I’m sure the democrats encourage political inepts like this to run, just so they have an easy victory.
*sigh* What a choice, Boxer, or a woman capable of tanking one of the worlds leading companies.Exactly what I was thinking!

The prospect of unseating Boxer is going to be very tempting.
She’s a Republican, or what?
The woman who ran HP down the tubes? Forget it.

Isnt Chuck DeVore also announced candidate for the Republican nomination?
endorsed by Demint.

Yipee
Another pro-abortion lefty who calls herself a Republican.
No thanks!
“Here we go again. No doubt the a little conservative is better than none at all crowd will come out and support this RINO. After all, all that matters is winning, right?”
You know, four or five years ago I would have disagreed with what you are conveying in your post. Anymore, I am 100% in agreement. Liberals will take a mile of rope when given a millimeter...it’s in their nature. I used to think a RINO was a decent stopgap to kick these blue areas back to red. Man was I ever wrong.
While I would love to see another (R) in the Senate and see the end of Boxer, an elected RINO basically means that we lose this seat in six years to something worse than Boxer or we have yet another permanent fixture to drive us nuts. It is a net loss no matter what.
Also, suppose Fiorina pulls this off ... I doubt her executive instincts will compel her to remain 1 of 100. She’s probably using this as a stepping stone to winning the Governorship of CA ... that worked well for Corzine :-)!
which party?
Is there any difference anymore in California?
Anyone is better than Boxer.
Carly just might do it!
Fiorina vs Boxer. In a state with 30 million people, this is the best we can do? Feh.
McCain RINO shill alert.
OK Californians... where is your “real” conservative to challenge her in the primary? Otherwise, from the sound of this thread, everyone is supporting Boxer as better than a RINO because who cares about numbers in the Senate, or something.
Maybe we better “ Tea Party” her email address /phones and let her know right up front... NO WAY!
How about “Doing for California what I did for Hewlett-Packard?”
How about “Doing for California what I did for Hewlett-Packard?”
One wonders if the Arnold ‘vote for him because he has a chance to win’ crowd will push Carly like they did him?
38+ million people in CA, and this is the best we can do! CA is doomed.
Really Cali, is this the best you can offer??? Please tell me there will at least be a primary challenger against her.
I’m sorry but this woman’s professional career was a TRAIN WRECK! I can’t imagine she’ll be any more effective in DC.
Anybody’s better than Boxer. I’d be willing to give her a chance and see what she can do. And if she sucks, we can replace her in 6 years with someone better.
I completely agree.
Great, another RINO. When will these people ever learn....
Yup. On to the infamous GoP primary.. ;-)
Nope... Not gonna support this rino. No amount of wailing and grinding of teeth by the socialist wing of the GOP and their lackeys here on FR is going to convince me otherwise.
In fact, its not enough to simply refuse to support this rino. We need an ACTIVE opposition against her. The goal is to deny her a seat of power within the GOP.
The war against the socialists in the GOP needs to be won and that means defeating every single one of their RINO candidates, even if it means there will be a dem socialist instead of a gop socialist in the seat.
So California conservatives have to choose the conservative candidate in the primary to get the right person on the ballot against Boxer. That’s the proper time to dump the RINOs.
But once it goes to the general election the choice becomes clear: Vote for Boxer or vote for her opponent. I will always vote for her opponent, regardless of the level of their conservatism. I know it’s a lesser-of-two-evils argument, but incremental improvement is better than no improvement at all. Boxer must go!
no WAY no MORE!
Would Tom McClintock ever give it a go?
Is she still out there trying to fit in?
Bipartisanship is one-sided. We don’t need anyone who “reaches across the aisle”!
