Troops fire tear gas and beat demonstrators on the 30th anniversary of the U.S. Embassy's seizure.
Reporting from Tehran and Beirut - Iran's capital erupted in chaos and violence today as anti-government protestors and security forces clashed on the 30th anniversary of the seizing of the U.S. Embassy by radical students.
Today's demonstration did not appear to be as large as the huge marches that erupted following the disputed June 12 reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. But the protest, the largest in six weeks, struck at one of the ideological pillars of the Islamic Republic by showing that a sizable chunk of Iranians disagree with hard-liners' anti-American agenda.

On Vali Asr Square, armed security forces surrounded a crowd of demonstrators chanting, “Death to the dictator,” and “Russia is the den of espionage,” playing on the official description of the former U.S. Embassy compound as a “den of espionage.”

We should arm all these pissed off, anti-Ahmadinnerhjacket citizens and loose them on the government troops, supported by U.S. airpower if necessary...

Sure, if we had a President with some balls instead of a tall, black Jimmy Carter.

These brave people have already done more than Obama ever will to steer Iran to a sane future.
To: EnigmaticAnomaly
If McCain (right on Foreign policy) would be President, we would be doing this right now. I have no doubt that he would do everything possible to use the situation to destabilize the illegitimate regime in Iran.
Obama will do everything to stabilize his "partners" in Tehran.

I'm afraid in order to catch it, Pres Obama must care first. It's unbelievable that a president of the USA could hear the cry of help from those fighting and dying for their freedom and do nothing except make flowery speeches.

This is an amazing demonstration, because it is plainly pro-American.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a pro-American President in our White House.
